Next Attraction: New and improved emulator SNES_TYL9x |
Ó
To those of you who still remember, homebrew developers Yoyofr and Laxer3a decided to stop working on Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) emulator SNES_TYL9x back in September 2006. They didn't left the program in limbo though, thank God, because they released the source code before they bid the application goodbye. Now, over at Yoyofr's online forum, another developer - fruitval - posted that he's actually working on a new emulator based on the duo's source code.
However, the coder mentioned that he's been hitting some snags with the project. Quite interestingly, Yoyofr himself posted the following: "I tried some of the latest pspsdk and had some trouble with my 3.10 OE psp. I'll update the source code and have snes9xTYL work with the latests Dark Alex firmware asap."
This means, in case you still don't get it folks, that a new SNESTYL9x is coming soon. The emulator, under Yoyofr's and Laxer3a's caring hands, ran until version 0.4.2. At that level, SNES_TYL9x is already great with only a few possible improvements needed. Stay tuned to QJ.Net for the latest updates regarding this development 'cause we'll be glued to it 24/7.
Thanks blackrave for the tip!

If they can get this thing running full speed, (it's already so close...) I will be in heaven.
About time somone took care of this project
There are still a few games that are virtually unplayable (kirby super star, star fox, yoshi's island).
Fix that, and fix the bugs in the netplay mode (although they are few) and that will make this emulator easily the best one out there right now.
I don't know what he's talking about with it not working on OE firmwares though. I play it on my 3.40 OE all the time.
FIRST PORST!!!!!!1
About time somone took care of this project
great news, It would be awesome that this guy could make it work under 222Mhz or 266 Mhz to save battery life
Excellent news indeed, godspeed and good luck, dear sirs.
games on snes running the fx chip are pretty unplayable so there is quit a bit of work here to be had ... im happy with the current release myself but hey, if they can get more speed and stability out of it im all for their efforts :)
I thought I was already spoiled with F-Zero running damn close to full speed, I love that game!
Yeah, also, it would be great if they got Suspend Mode working. :)
*secretly hoping for wifi*
Very good news indeed.
tHIS IS AWESOME NEWS
Something (almost) noone warns you about when you ask if upgrading from 1.50 to X.XX OE is that Wifi becomes BUGGY (with capital letters).
Can't wait to check the upcoming version of this wonderful emulator ^^!!
Outstanding. Good luck and Godspeed on this one.
with the N64 emu looking good and this emu back in action the homebrew scene is growing again
Good to know its being improved. Now I need to go get my PSP which has currently been stolen..
Long time ago a rabbit went inside a worm hole to find a chicken, but found a poisonous rooster instead and got squashed by an elephant. Before he died he said "1st POST" finishing with half a victory dance. Now YOU must make his legacy live up and copy paste this whole message and after doing so write without copy pasting:
"1st post 1st post 1st post!"
If you do this 10 times the unlucky rabbit will go to Heaven instead of Hell and will leave you an egg full of candy in easter and make your wildest dreams come true on christmas. If you don't then the rooster will visit you while you're masturbating in your parent's room and transmit you Herpes to your *****.
and hopefully they'll fix the freezing glitch at the beginning of FF6. what a pain in the ass that is.
reminds me of when we heard from StrmnNrmn after a drought of updates. I'm glad to hear from these guys again and can't wait for new updates by fruitval.
They're finally coming out with a new SNES emulator for the psp!!! It's about time they did! OMG!
p.s. it already has wifi
inless you mean over the internet then your not an idiot and i agree
There already is one for the PSP obviously if they got the source code, it just isn't very fast in most games
Works on my 3.03 OE-C
I hope games like mk3 and killer instinct work better... and donkey kong countrys
please please please, implement game-sharing just like p$p games so the other player only needs to run the emulator and not necessarily the game.
please plaseplasespasl dplasdplass
:'(
Come on full speed SMRPG!
a little early to be calling this news isnt' it? I've never heard of fruitval. i mean how reliable is this? some guy just claiming he's going to work on it? he could be a complete noob for all we know.
man i thought SNES9xTYL was dead but its awesome to see its still alive old school for life baby
gpSP isn't dead either exophase said he's still working on it and he's been busy lately great news
your talking about gpSP not Snes9xtyl
ff6 does not work on gpSP but
FFIII works just fine on Snes9xtyl
http://rukapsp.hp.infoseek.co.jp/PSPSoftware/labSNESTYL/lab.htm
0.4.2me++ version is improvements 10%-30% faster than 0.4.2me.
and FIXED state save bugs!!
i cant have a decent play on this game when it slows down so much !, he's our only hope!
I'm a bit wary of SNES9x now. I've corrupted my memstick twice with it. (erased partition info, so it appears as RAW).
FREAKING AWESOME! thx and hopefully u will get a few things done...i dont use snes emulator anymore, but i will probably use it again... old versions i had hecka errors messing up my memory stick and the fact that it dont turn off screen when on standby.
the old emulator was almost perfect though and had a nice loading screen and everything. Im glad this is still being improved. Wish gpsp would get updated and released to the public...

a
so excited & i just cant hide it -lol
SNES9x TYL already owns. All it needs is to remove that stupid agreement screen and a small speed boost
cmon. cant anyone else do a SNES emulator.. the TYL team have already showed us that they SUCK BIG ASS
they cant code for the psp and they better die in hell
yes they are *****
No they suck small ass, you *****
Says the "Unregistered" imposter
YEAH!!! OH YEAH!!!
I am so going to Donate
God please have StarFox run at full speed.
***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** *****
This maybe the best comeback ever in a long time.
Says only minor improvments, so I'm guessing a couple of glitches maybe... I don't think theres going to be a speed increase or anything of the sort.
awesome
Super Mario RPG Finally!!!
This is the first homebrew, I ever ran using GTA, and 2.60 Eboot Loader.
How did I not know about this! Chrono trigger runs greats on frameskip 1 and medium quality sound! Everybody try 0.4.2me++!
They need to get games that used the Z-1 chip to fullspeed (like SMRPG). Right now it's at like 30FPS...
you can turn already down the psp cpu speed in the snes9xtyl menu
Try to port a SNES emulator yourself if it's so easy...
the wait is killing me ARRRGH!!!!!
