Best known for games like SMM (Super Mini Mario) and L.A.S.T 0.01 (Shoot'em Up Test Demo), Arguru is stepping up his game by testing his 2D engine with Turrican graphics.

An extension of the shoot 'em up engine used for L.A.S.T, but with the addition of non-linear scroll-maps, some 2d basic physics (body), and some map/tiling AI so map-text files can be edited easier (the engine will fill corners, shadows, etc). For those thinking that this is the same as the SMM engine, Arguru assures us that it's a new rewritten one. Despite all software rendering, it's running nicely at 60FPS with background parallax scrolling, etc.,

Sadly, we still have to wait for a couple more agonizing weeks before we get our hands on this new game. Oh the agony! So for the meantime let us content ourselves with L.A.S.T first. It'll be a good way to gauge how much we should expect from Arguru. And boy I tell you, after trying it out for a couple of times, I can't wait for the release of the next one.

» HOOOOOLLLYYYY SHIIIIIII......

Un-frikkin-believable!!!! Thank you ARGURU for making this possible....Many nights of playing this are ahead on my schedule. Can't wait for what you'll cook up next!

» It DOES work on 1.50fw

Sorry for the double post, but it seems the guy above me didn't try the KXploit method with NO hidden files...or you could make two folders:

LAST% >Eboot.pbp(PARAM.SFO & ICON0/PIC1.PNG files)

LAST >Eboot.pbp(just rename DATA.PSP to Eboot.pbp)

Hope this helps....If you can live with the corrupted icon in the PSP menu....If not, try Fluff's method...Go figure.

It does work on 1.50, just don't press the SELECT button while playing the game...It freezes the PSP into a voluntary shutdown.

» Simply Astonishing

This game really is quite amazing. Fun to play, has a good soundtrack, and "theoretically" has user creatable levels and sprites, if you have m4d artistic skillz that is...

Few small problems with it, you never die (even when your health reaches 0), and at the end, after the 2 bigger baddies, the game doesn't move on. Flawless other than that. Like the way you get blown backwards when hit by a missile, nice touch :)

Well worth a try, and it fully supports v1.50, try using "SeiPSPTool" if you are having troubles. As "Apoklepz" states, the select button does make it crash, so avoid it if you can.

» Coooool !!!

I can't wait for more levels... Absolut cool game! Great work !!! And I can't wait for PSP Turrican... that will be a shocking great game !!! You have problems to start this game with firmware 1,5?? Try the NO-KXploit patcher (it works with this) or start the Eboot file with the PSP File Assistant...

» heh

Yeah use the "no corrupted icons" tool to get this to run on 1.5. This game is great and I cant wait to see where it goes.

ever heard of copyright?

A copyright can only be violated if the stolen content is used for commercial purposes. This is a homebrew game. The coder isn't asking for any money therefor it isn't a copyright violation. It's the same as taping a tv show for your own personal viewing. It's legal in that regard and you must be either new to the scene because homebrewers borrow from commercial sources all the time.

» that ...

... doesn't make it legal. it's not allowed to distribute copyrighted material, no matter if you do it for commercial reasons or not. simple, huh?

In that case the accusations of crime should be thrown at PSPUpdates, not the coder.
