New ChickHEN R3 incoming: VSH menu, plugin support, more

And you thought ChickHEN updates have reached a standstill? Heck no. We haven't even reached the yoke of the matter yet! Yeah, see the screenshot up there? Mmm hmm, from what it seems, it looks like Davee and the rest of Team Typhoon are busy updating their ChickHEN exploit to a new and very much improved R3.

Just as M33 would have their custom firmwares, Team Typhoon also plans to incorporate a VSH menu and plugin support (among other features) to ChickHEN R3. According to sky_warn over our forums, these are the planned features for the next version:

XMB / Game Version Spoofing
Photo menu redirections
Patch Playstation Network
Hide pic1 (already present on CF)
NandGuard
System Settings / MAC Address Spoof Version
VSH Menu
Plugins
High Memory for PSP 2000/3000

No actual release date has been scheduled yet, but Davee says it's not coming around any time soon.

If you want it so badly, learn how to write program in C++, combine in cygwin with pspsdk, and learn how custom firmware works. Don't use slow loading time to defend for your piracy. If you want pirate, buy 2000. If not sure, 1000 will definitely will. The way you guys screaming, begging for iso loader so "pathetic".

Don't you realized that, after several months the 3000 came out, we got a lot of good game. Know what, we didn't have any game worth playing except some titles ranked to hardcore like GOW.

Team Typhoon has ability to add iso support but they don't, just because some jerks like you. They want to keep the true purpose of CFW, playing homebrew, not playing iso. You are cheap pirate.

wine and cry about the pirates... all i have to say about iso cso is that im watin for it too (before i get a 3000 anyway) not realy for pirating cuz i bought all my games (and i dont realy care if anyone beleaves me) i just like to show off my psp stuff... i got 3 of them, the camera, two 8gig ms, 4 4gig sticks, filled with music, movies, and a bunch of games that i just couldent even stand to think of load times of. it dosnt help when you hafta tell someone your showin off to to hang on cuz it takes FOREVER to load off the disc!

Am I the only person here who would admit to wanting an ISO loader for the purpose of pirating?(I'll bet this sentence alone will lower the rating of this comment)

But seriously, reasons like faster load times, longer battery life, and fear of paying for a crap game are pretty valid.

But of course, pirating is bad and cannot be justified whatsoever. Despite there being people out there who actually want to rip their own UMDs and put them on memory sticks instead of using the UMD drive.

I swear, every time I come on here there are flames about piracy and the ability to load an ISO on any article that mentions M33 or this new HEN. Like it or not, it's going to happen eventually.

Buying a PSP 2000 now is pointless since they have the same motherboard as the 3000 series. Unless you want to find a used 2000 out there somewhere.

Before 3000, when everyone had ISO loaders. There wasn't much people not wanting it in the homebrew community. It was just accepted almost. However, what I don't like to see is as soon as a dev, or in this case a fair few devs, decide to not have it. People who may have pirated before jump on that train to snarl at those still bootlegging it as if they are some inferior race. It has brought out a lot of hypocrites.

I agree on the fact that we should stop people potentially being able to pirate and hurt PSP game sales, yet an ISO loader is always a great thing to have, on the go. Especially if you play monster hunter, the loading speeds are brilliant compared with my UMD counter-part which is essential considering each zone must be load when entering.

For me, I'd have to agree that PSP 3000 should more or less remain without the loader. I'm sure Sony has the message, we want to be able to do more with our PSP's.

PSP 1000 owners happy with CFW and 1.50 support.

PSP 2000 owners happy with CFW and slim system.

PSP 3000 owners happy with CFW and brighter screen.

All play homebrew. All are different. If you want to play ISO/CSO, then you will have to sacrifice something like everyone other psp owner. So stop the complaining.

the exploit that is running on the psp300 has nothing to do with ISO loading. its not possible. the exploit does not run at a kernel level. IE.. its running over the legit firmware, not actually altering it, this means sony still has control of the system, and there for ISO's will not load. until there is an exploit that acesses the internal flash memory of the 300, there will be no ISO loading, and if there is such an exploit it will not be this one, you may end up needing this to execute the final exploit, but the chickhen exploit is incapable of getting deep enough into the system to do ISO loading. this whole argument is stupid and pointless, as it's imposible

I'm sorry but everything said above is a load of crap.

The exploit was a kernel mode one (since it has flash0 access). It is running over legit firmware but just patches certain parts of the memory to allow homebrew.

Davee can implement a ISO loader. It is technically possible. He just has to add a little more code into the memory. He just chooses not to.

ChickHEN not being 'deep enough' into the system is a load of crap.

While I agree that this argument is stupid, it is possible for ChickHEN to have ISO loading.
