Mystery team creating new Custom Firmware 3.51 |

A few days ago, Team M33 from Russia made waves when they released PSP Custom Firmware v3.51 M33. But even while many are still downloading this latest CFW, word is out on another 3.51 project under development.This project is being undertaken by a team of 10 developers (who wished to remain anonymous), who plan to create the CF by reverse-engineering one of Dark AleX's previous works.
What makes the project lucrative is that the dev team claims that once it's finished, their CF v3.51 will surpass even DA's works. Just keep posted in case we pick up news on this mystery project, and hopefully the dev team's name. Kudos to chuck for informing us of this homebrew development news.

Everyone was so annoyed when Dark_aleX left, because that typically meant no more of OE custom firmwares. As soon as one developer falls, three or four more will always rise to pick up where they left off.

Dark_Alex was a team of no less than 2. Him and math were def the main 2. And 10 is better than 2. Look how long it took D_A's team to make one OE. M33 made it in less than 2 weeks, and that's with having to decompile da's work.

D_A was NOT the only person working on the OE firmwares. There where several people that helped in different ways, as well as at least one person working directly with him.

codings rather hard (ive tried it) so it wouldnt be a totally great thing to do if you did nothing else. you quickly become bored of it unless you have really good attention spans.

Unbelievable. I've put up with QJ's biased stories for some time, but thats just blatantly irresponsible. Dark_AleX left the damn scene because he revealed too much about himself and Sony obviously sent him a cease and desist.
The team is remaining anonymous because its the only way they can help the homebrew community without putting themselves in harms way. Stop being immature little children over there at QJ and grow up.

He didn't need to give anyone the source as you can decompile it from his prx's as the m33 team have done, and anyone else working on new custom firmwares will be doing.
Besides if you agree he stopped because of sony's lawyers do you really think they would let him share his source

I don't know if it would be possible but I can think of one improvement. Fix the firmware so that when we play Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters, we do not have to manually set the speed to 266. I know that official firmwares do not need this. This is not a slam on any of the CFW's, they are a god send. This is just a suggestion.
its not a matter of which ones official. it depends which one developers, users, and theme makers, etc. decide to adopt. the reason OE became popular was because it was the first custom firmware to use a later kernel than 1.5 (earlier ones like 1.50 POC existed) and also by the time stuff like 1.62 IE came out everyone already embraced OE.

Built in support for USBHostfs or even better up, NethostFS support so that ISO's can be launched over USB or WiFi directly from the XMB.

I like having all the diffrent custom fireware out there. D_A's work was great I'm still on 3.40 OE-A and everything works perfect never had nothing go wrong. These people are working and taking there time for us to sit back and download the new custom fireware and not pay for it and have the greatest golden firmware to play all the new games as well as our homebrew.We need to STOP FLAMMING EVERYONE THAT DOES SOMETHING EVEN IF IT'S BAD THERE TRYING FOR US.............STOP WITH THE SMAMMING TOO

So you are saying that Dark alex's work was bad? his work was very well aprechatated for the homebrew communty and the cfws now should be held up to a higher standerd because with out dark alex making the idea of opening up flash 1 and 0 you would be still back to x flasher and other things like that. think twice when you critize him because he was a good edition to the homebrew communty

well in my case i find that all thanks need to be given to DA. i will test out these new Custom firmwares but will always stay with 3.40 OE cause its the best one ive come across so far and DA's work has always bin relyable. i aint had that many bugs and neva let me down. so i shall stay with my fw but i will keep a look out on these new ones.

With multiple teams releasing custom firmwares, it allows us choice. Just like choosing distributions of linux, or choosing a Mac or a PC, it is your choice and you can choose the one that suites you best. Not to mention the competition and the urge to make your work better will only boost the custom firmware and PSP scene as a whole.

Well ultimately it'll be up to the game, theme, and app makers to decide which custom firmware they'll support more, assuming there's a big enough variation under the hood between them all that warrants choosing one over the other.
Project EE was started by a group of kids on some forums--I'm not gonna say which ones--and they supposedly started an amazing new firmware update.
Come to find out later that none of them had any coding experience.
