PSP CFW 4.10 M33 Dark AleX - Image 1

If some of you guys were wondering what became of all the drama that happened yesterday in the PSP scene, here's an update. Miriam has responded to the accusations that Dark AleX and Alek made yesterday about the GripShift homebrew enabler that he came up with.

In response to Dark AleX's post in the DAX forums:

I'm not going to classify Dark_AleX as a liar as none of you will believe me, so I will try to explain a scenario that could have been a reason for this false accusation. I guess I have some explaining to do after Alek was so nice (cough) to call me by my old nickname, making space for an even larger amount of flaming. I'm not going to deny that I am _HellDashX_, but I am going to deny the fact that this was all based around a lie. _HellDashX_ was the nickname of me (Miriam) and my partner Alex (unrelated to Dax), we worked together on several projects including the reverse engineering of the custom firmware. After we reversed several modules we decided to release 3.72 HX with great pleasure, which got flamed almost straight away due to the fact the modules were hex-edited. They were, but for those smart people out there, exactly how did we figured out what patches to modify if we didn't know how the modules worked? Back then we already had vshctrl and popcorn reversed. In 3.73 HX this was followed by a reverse of the IPL and several other modules, but the flame fest continued. After a while, we managed to get in contact with Mathieulh and Dark_AleX over MSN, due to the fact they were claiming we hex-edited another project. After they were proved wrong, we gained a level of trust from Dax over the months. After a while he allowed us to release a new custom firmware (we had already completely reversed the custom firmware at this time, every single module and the IPL), but I didn't want to disclose my nickname again as people started to stereotype it, so I released it with one of our names, Miriam. I exist, I'm not artificial, and I have nothing to hide.

Now that that's covered, lets go on with the exploit. I realise few people will believe me, I don't care, but I'll tell my story anyways. A few days ago I found a vulnerability in the kernel, and after several converstations with Dark_AleX about it on MSN, he told me he used the same exploit. I told him I was implementing a private HEN but couldn't get some things working, and asked for advice. After receiving some I still didn't manage to get it working, but a friend of me came up with another solution which turned out to work fine. After a while I received the source code of his own exploit over MSN, at this point the HEN was already 95% functional, all based on my own code. Dark_AleX asked me not to disclose this kernel exploit, but to look for another one, which I respected and thus decided not to release the current HEN to public.

However, under the pressure of several people I allowed MaGiXieN to make a video of the HEN in action, but not disclose any details. Which is exactly what happened. Nobody else but MaGiXieN and me have access to this homebrew-enabler, and I'm the only one who knows how the internals work. I would've appreciated it if Dark_AleX at the very least would've mentioned anything about this on MSN, so we could've worked it out. There was absolutely no reason to jump out in the open, unveil my identity and make false assumptions without even trading a word.

I was tracking down the firmware for a new kernel exploit, but I guess I'm not going to worry about that anymore. I don't need this e-drama, I have a real life and friends and family I care about, and I leave this post with one final message, "GOODBYE".

In response to Alek's post:

About the Alek post in www.dark-alex.org...well yesterday Magixien BEFORE RELEASE THE VIDEO, ask Alek if he will can release the video...and it is the alek answer:

"MaGiXieN: HEN mode
Alek: cool
MaGiXieN: with ISO and kernel mode ok
Alek: ok
Alek: all fine then, neither dark-alex.org or sceners.org will talk about it, at least officially
Alek: your merit, your work
MaGiXieN:
MaGiXieN: You can news it
Alek: will think about it when i finish the maintenance that i'm on at the moment"

So, as you can SEE Alek knows about the VIDEO YESTERDAY AND SAID YES TO PUBLISH IT!

Alek lie, as always...I NEVER broke my oath to PSPGEN, M33 AND ALEX. I NEVER SEARCH FOR THE FAME, I ONLY WANTS THE PEOPLE CAN ENJOY ANOTHER FIRMWARES!

It sux that the PSP homebrew community looses a developer. It does seem unfair that Dax went and just said his statement publicly like that. He should have tried to talk with Miriam and work it out. It is really stupid to get pissed when the thing wasn't even released, just a video.

everything can be solve if we all just sit down and talk about it like civilized people without getting on each others nerves. just don't get carried out by emotions. remember, certain emotions can lead to conflict. let's all be friends and be democratic about it. otherwise, kill everything... rather flame everything that replies. LOL

Oh f- it. Miriam is just being a drama llama. They are leaving because they are butt-hurt, not because they got called out on some *****. This stuff has happened in the scene LONG before homebrewers had a name for themselves, when the biggest names were the scene relz groups. Even MUGS *****`ed up and they left after being butt-hurt from stealing patches and relz. If either wanted to truely stay, they would, and prove they were able to really do ***** on their own... oh wait, they can't do sh~t on their own, hence why they leave.

Pride..it's all about pride. I mean c'mon, credits? virtually? Yes, I know credits should be given to the creator or to whoever does that crap, but to fight on credits virtually? Immature IMO. What counts is that they are working together for a better future in the PSP scene. Selfish, maybe, but the PSP scene is all about developments right? But hey, everyone makes mistakes, and now we lost 1 developer. It's called life.

who act all mature and say they are sick of the drama after flaming you. I was pretty angry when I read what DAX wrote. If it was someone else I probably wouldn't have believed it. But I mean, DAX? I guess we were all so ready to believe that DAX was god that we didnt think rationally.

Well, just saying I'm sorry for jumping to conclusions, and hopefully you accept mine and anybody else's apology. Good luck in future endeavors!

Well, Dark_alex is also just a human. He made a mistake.

I know DaX did great things and he's a godlike dev, but there should be a point where adoration has an end.

That said, I think if Dark_Alex and the people who flamed him apologize, everything would be fine again. Remember, It's all about Respect. At least that's my opinion.

Some info got leaked, so what? It's similar like Square-Enix's |insert game| "closed-door video" got released beforehand. It's not that bad. At least I am always interested in seeing how things progress sooner than later. Besides it was just a video, not a source code or anything, so let's not be childlish.

I love all of you and hate all the bull****.

This is so funny, who really cares?

This comment is not intended to offend, just to open up your eyes:

All you developers rule, no matter what anybody says, sounds like there is a bunch of followers,

and few leaders in the scene. Like war, we follow whatever fight we believe in,

not as if it is even a worthy cause for either side.

Remember the witch hunts? Sound familiar?

Keep developing and put your self-esteem aside for who really cares?

Your word his word, whatever. Respect each other%u2019s talent.

I love any contribution made to the scene, stolen, copied, recreated.

Does it really matter, is anyone paying any of these people. Do you really care?

No? So, who are we to say anything but, thank you.

Just crack the fN%u2019 3000k already. Love ya!

Because it is all for Freeeeeeeeeeeee eeeeeee.

Either way they are just other people with drama like you an me. Difference is, they are better devs than you and me (no offense ya'll). dont let stupid drama dissuede either of you guys. If HellDashX/Miriam still has potential to do good for psp scene and he wants to, then he should, ***** what anyone else says, if we dont care about Sony's critisicms, why would care about each others'? just a thought. but if he is underhanded and conniving then good riddance jerk. chea!

We need the coders to get along... its a small enough community. But as a post script its obvious that we are finally progressing with the 3000. That said, it is Sony's intention to divide the community using various methods... They don't need any help guys!

about 3 years old my older brother was 4.I had worked so hard for a lollipop that only we knew which flavor it was, I was washing the dishes (couldnt even reach the sink) sweeping the floors(broom was taller than me), and ..you get the picture etc etc. I lost so much sleep over that lollipop, I had a lot of other friends who had no idea which flavor it was but they all just wanted a peice of my lollipop. then one day, my brother showed them the lollipop, but it had a BLACK WRAPPER COVERING THE WHOLE THING, they still didnt know what flavor it was but now they knew it was real. I got soooo mad at my brother and told him to get out of my life. He did after telling me I was so stupid for overreacting because no harm was caused. We didnt talk until we were old enough to put it behind us. We laugh at it now we realize we were all just kids, and not something important like a custom firmware developer or something.

Well, this situation is not good. According to Miriam, he said there are many critical codes that he added for it to work. I believe we all realize that one of the most important developer is lost, and the disclosure of Sparta exploit may never happen.

I think this is the shiznit that Sony wanted. That's probably why they made the 3000 model the way they did. I guess they hoped to cause some homebrew confusion. This is a sad day for the homebrew community. I believe that all devs should share their input and creations with their colleagues but to their on right. No one should take their work without permission and claim it as their own. That's where we sit now. This scene would be great if things could stay smooth but like anything shiznit falls apart. We haven't had any real good stuff release in the PSP side of things in a while. It's starting to look more and more like the PSP community is on life support with no sight of help to come.
