Mess with topmenu plugin, get 7th XMB icon? |

Confused? So was he at first, and we're still confused here. This is a result of xShad0w flashing the backup topmenu plugin after he was dissatisfied with the results of an icon theme (that much we're pretty confident of - and even then, that's stating things in very general terms).
The full thread, available for discussion below, is running in the direction of developing this "accidental discovery" into a "custom" homebrewed 7th XMB menu for... something.
We hope xShad0w doesn't mind if we use his photographic evidence of the what-it-is-in-question. Let's see where the discussion - and the devving - go from there. And thanks for the tip, pspgamer81!

Everything I need is right under the Game folder. But this is still sweet, any kind of change like this is a cool one just because it's something new.

im fairly sure there are prxplugins that can take screens of the XMB. do so.
this happened to me about 2 weeks ago. ! i didnt know what caused it eather, so i flashed my PSP back to 1.5, i was going to post my discoveries... and then i forgot :-(

i flashed my the topmenu to my kids psp a month or so ago & got 2x WWW icons, the normal one worked fine but the one below dodnt have text or action, but it glowed the same as the others, i flashed my own psps topmenu at the same time & it went fine, so i tried theirs & didnt get the same double icons, theirs did the same again with my own custom topmenu, i thought its gotta be down to the model of psp as theirs is original jap model
another thing thats got me thinkin this is theirs has 2 icons more than me whether i use 3.03 OE-A - 3.10 OE-A' they have portable TV & Playstation spot icons i get neither, u think this is cos i have a euro psp1003 model psp & they have jap psp1000???
japanese psp's have pTV under network, it's actually nothing more the the browser but it only goes to the pTV site. this isn't inplemented in other region psp's because sony is just testing out pTV in japan only.
we could use this to have a dedicated menu for launching custom PRX's, like the reboot PRX, the recovery launcher PRX, the screenshot PRX etc. instead of having them dotted about in unused menu icons.
it is NOT ptv people. it is an actual 7th spot horizontally gained when you flash a 3.10 OE-A topmenu to 3.03OE-C (thats what this guy did)
I hope dark_alex can incorporate this into an 3.xx oe all for homebrew and iso's... that would be the biznitch

Not only did I get this, but the shadows we're all messed up. This happened when I tried to put the topmenu_plugin from the original 3.03 back after flashing a custom one. At least, that's how I got it.
Make The Game one for Homebrew, and make the new one for ISOs and CSOs
Hope this Leads to a homebrew icon so we dont need to go to Game> Memory Stick
yeah like angelo said make the game150 folder somehow redirect under there and have all the homebreweboots and isos there.

nice and all, but did anyone notice his awesome XMB wave? thats is sick, QJ should post a xmb wave pack with abunch of already made waves and some pics, kinda like the batterie and volume bar ones, cuz i still cant figure out the whole hex editing thing.

Heres how it would go.
Homebrew would go where it normally does.
PSX Eboots and ISO's would go in a new folder in the PSP folder called ISO. Then, all of your PSX's and ISO's would be displayed under the custom icon.
I would like that.

Actually this happen to me just before and I thought it was funny as I was reading it. I changed my xmb icons back to the regular ones because the new ones I had weren't working and I got the shadow of my network and game icons mixed up and had an extra icon. I should've taken a screenie :(
this is interesting. if that slot isn't supposed to be there, i don't know if it should be tampered with. on the other hand, those who have the guts (and loot) to hack further, may just be able to add/remove xmb menus!!
my pimped-out 3.03 oe-c PSP is so perfect for me now, i wouldn't think of flashing it anymore. Well maybe just one more time hehe >:D

Yeah, this is interesting, but it's COMPLETELY spoiled when I'm going around, moderating the comments, only to find about a BAZILLION stupid ones such as the "I like gay" comment or the super-long blank one. Honestly, do as Digg does (or at worst, Slashdot): ditch the five-star system and use a numerical system. After a comment falls below a certain threshold, it disappears from common view, and disable "Anonymous Coward" postings. Seriously, make 'em register. I can settle for the half-decent "news" coverage, I mean, hey, where else am I going to get an RSS feed of major homebrew news? But the commenting system makes me want to stop coming here. Learn to take some responsibility and start BANNING people!

I agree. To be honest, I couldn't have been bothered with Wave hacking until I saw this. All of a sudden, I have an urge to trick out my XMB, but I have little clue where to find a ton of good ones. A Wave-pack would be completely awesome. I'd try to figure it out myself, but I'm a total n00b with this kind of stuff and haven't the clue where to learn to wave-hack.
