LiraNuna, a famous NDS homebrew developer, has decided to quit the NDS homebrew "scene" and join the much larger PSP homebrew "scene" as a result. LiraNuna's leave of the NDS community came as a shocker to many, especially those who were anticipating Tales of Dagur II - a sequel to the popular Tales of Dagur homebrew RPG made by LiraNuna.

Several months ago, I recall talking to LiraNuna on IRC asking if they would ever come over to PSP homebrew, and he responded that it is a possibility. LiraNuna is one of the most talented developers for NDS homebrew, and hopefully this will be evident the PSP community as well. So, I would like to welcome LiraNuna to the PSP "scene" and we would all love to see you bring some masterpieces to this beloved Sony hardware soon! Read below for LiraNuna's blog entry for quitting the NDS "scene" and joining the PSP "scene" -

IÂ’m going to do this simple and short.

Due to my latest discovery about the DS scene me getting bored with DS development, i have decided I do not want to be a part of it any more.

Expect a final release of dualSwan v1.2.1 really soon. All of my current projects are discontinued, as I will not work on them ever again. All of them are open source, and freely available for modification.
I will release a final swan song DS demo on EVOKE as promissed.

After EVOKE, IÂ’m moving over to the PSP homebrew scene. Projects page had been opened already.

lol

DS has a homebrew scene? I guess it's down to just 1 developer now.
by Mystic8277 - 2006-07-25 15:44:50
.

So what made him want to leave the DS homebrew scene? And Justin B. why do you use quotes around """scene"""?

NDS Homebrew has had a very large following, and some have even beat out the PSP in terms of homebrew quality ;) They just got DSLua about a few months ago, so everyone had to code in C++ before that ;)
by - 2006-07-25 15:46:05
what?

what is his latest discovery that made him change?
by - 2006-07-25 15:49:11
#7

He must have discovered he was a sadist and wanted to devote his time to making apps for people who will only moan about the quality.

LiraNuna!!!

Welcome!!!
by - 2006-07-25 15:52:42
Ahem

I would like to take this time to announce that I too am joining the PSP homebrew scene.
by - 2006-07-25 15:52:54
Don't let the haters get you down

"He must have discovered he was a sadist and wanted to devote his time to making apps for people who will only moan about the quality." Tru dat. I heartily welcome you to the scene. Please don't get down by reading the nastier comments by immature little kids. For whatever reason, PSP Updates still allows anonymous posting. There is indeed a large silent majority of PSP users who appreciate all the hard work that homebrew developers put in to their creations.

The rumors as to why he left are floating around on various NDS forums, but no one knows for sure.

dont listen to anyone who flames you. The most of us want you here. and welcome!
by Rehevkor - 2006-07-25 15:54:30
Welcome

We could use some more homebrew game developers. The various apps and hacks coming out are all awesome, but I'd like to see some original games as well. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with, LiraNuna.
by - 2006-07-25 15:54:43

that would be so cool lol there would be no reason to own a ds btw.................what will you be focusing on rpgs,3d rpgs,or emulators just wondering
by yoshinatsu - 2006-07-25 16:44:49
Welcome.

I'm really happy that a talented developer joins our rich homebrew scene. Although I hate Nintendo, I'm also sad, because some people are going to get really disappointed with that. However, we are people too, and since PSP offers much more that the DS (in the term of homebrew), it's good to have nice devs in our scene. I want to hope that LiraNuna, as an experienced developer, will help with his own way our scene, by making his very own project, porting others' projects, or helping others. We warmly welcome you in our humble place. Enjoy!

.

Welcome dood.
by skater9269 - 2006-07-25 17:05:47
just a question

does the nds really only have 4 mb of ram that is what i was told is this true
by - 2006-07-25 17:07:13
I have a DS Lite....

I have only run 2 homebrews on it and I never bothered again after that. However, my Psp has a 2GB Memstick filled with emulators, ports, utilities and much more. The Psp is simply more powerful and allows more flexibility in homebrew than the DS in my opinion.
by - 2006-07-25 17:28:28

Who the hell is that guy? Not really a shcok to anybody, seeing as he is unknown...plz come bak wth som real news, kthzbai

Traitor

LiraNuna's Apps were *****ing stupid anyway. Get out of here Lira Nuna. We dont need junk developers like you in our DS Homebrew Scene. Go to the crappy PSP Scene where you belong. With all the other trash. Hes going to make crappy Lua apps and quit on them. Stupid Trash Developer.
by - 2006-07-25 18:18:46
Poor thing

Sounds like you're about to cry, #36? And what "DS Homebrew Scene" are you talking about exactly? Seems pretty basic compared to what the PSP has....
by - 2006-07-25 18:33:27
TALES!!!!!!!!!!!

i hope he ports his infamous Tales games to psp!!!!!!!!! Playing on line a suggestion?...BTW welcome aboard the PSP homebrew scene!!!!!!!!!!!!!
by ++good - 2006-07-25 18:45:21
Welcome LiraNuna!

Thank you for deciding to develop for the PSP. The majority of people here are full of intrest in the highly developed skills of people like you, that can turn the PSP into a phenomenal device. Don't mind the minority nay-sayers. They are everywhere, as I'm sure you're used to seeing on the DS homebrew scene. You will always have a home here. Welcome again. ++good.
by - 2006-07-25 19:15:42
DS homebrew?

I'm just wondering, how does anybody run homebrew on the DS? I mean, what kind of disk do they put the apps on? My nephew has a DS Lite, that's why I'm asking. And welcome. The PSP homebrew scene is great and hopefully it will be a bit greater now.
by - 2006-07-25 19:50:14
welcome aboard. its ok to dev for two systems ;)

WinDS dualSwan Tales of Dragur all great programs. loved WinDs back when there was literally only a handful of homebrew for the ds. but as many as said, the psp is just a better homebrew machine, bigger screen, easier wifi libs, MUCH higher specs *meaning also easier to code for, many of our emulators run without ANY media engine support and almost run full speed.* and just because some of you dont know who someone is, doesnt make it a big deal. you think people outside of the psp scene know or care who fanjita humma or dark_alex are?
by - 2006-07-25 19:53:00
edit: 41

and just because some of you dont know who someone is, doesnt mean its not a big deal. you think people outside of the psp scene know or care who fanjita humma or dark_alex are? edit: grammatical errors

The poet ponders...

I wonder if I had any part in influencing this delightful decision?

by Gosugenji - 2006-07-25 20:48:56
cool

id like to say welcome to the ever-growing homebrew scene! its quite a rewarding experience, work at your own pace unless you promise something. overall easy system to program on once u get used to it. looking forward to some great homebrew LiraNuna :D
by - 2006-07-25 21:05:06
And so the PSP scene grows bigger

Greetings and salutations LiraNura, I hope you enjoy your time on the PSP scene, I hope it is everything you want, and I very much anticipate what is yet to come on the PSP.
by - 2006-07-25 21:06:30
Great News

It always is a good news to have a new developer who will join the PSP community. Talented or not, everyone is welcome. So, giving them a big welcome instead of making stupid threads you ungrateful idiots. Gotta love whatever you have so you are not going to regret when you lose it. Welcome to the community, LiraNuna ^_^
by R3TARD101 - 2006-07-25 21:06:59
Sweet

Thanks for joining us.
by - 2006-07-25 21:27:30
Welcome

Welcome. Don't let the kiddies and DS fan*****s bug you. The world is filled with them these days partly because it's just SOOOOOO popular to bash Sony. (and partly due to Sony, too.)
by - 2006-07-25 21:44:39
PSP > DS

PSP > DS Once Again. Sony wins. Nintendo sucks.
by - 2006-07-25 21:53:13
Welcome!!

I bet you'll find the homebrew scene much better for the PSP. It's more flexible, more exploits found, more apps made, and it doesn't cost anything to use homebrew! Hopefully we can see something exciting from you soon!
by Knocturnal - 2006-07-25 22:05:57
Welcome the drama king

Don't get too excited the drama king will eventually get tired of the psp scene and move over to whatever that portable machine microsoft is putting out by the end of next year and you can quote me on that.
by - 2006-07-25 22:08:20
Excellent dude!!!

Welcome LiraNuna! Can't wait to see you work your PSP magic!
