Aside from Dark AleX, one other homebrew developer that the community is beginning to tie closely to custom PSP firmwares is becus25. With that said, we'll be taking a short break from the fast-paced homebrew scene, as we listen in on a recently concluded interview with becus25.For starters, the Spanish coder explained where he got his name - "Becus" is actually the name of his dog, with "25" being added in when he attempted to sign up for an email account. The name has stuck since.
becus25 further explained that he joined up with the PSP dev scene as a challenge. He started out with Visual Basic, before moving up to the now-standard C++ coding format often used in homebrews. From here, he got into developing a custom firmware because of the desire to create an fw with his own improvements - the author further commented that more updates for the IE series fw were a possibility.
Moving further on with the interview, becus25 gave his own two cents on the possibility of Sony supporting the homebrew development scene. He mentions that he doubts Sony will ever do, further noting that the company "does not add sufficient protections to the PSP." Despite this, however, becus25 did state that he thinks the PSP "is more than a simple console," and that Sony could do better by adding in more features like a phone, and other goodies. We couldn't agree more on that last line.
That's the short on this recent interview - more details should be available at the source link.

To say it in a different way, if Sony hadn't removed homebrew possibilities from the official firmwares, OE firmware might not even exist...
