Daedalus PSP - Image 1

This was a triumph! We're making a note here: HUGE SUCCESS. The DaedalusX64 project is out of beta alpha - they're releasing on time!

All the DaedalusX64 naysayers can probably retract their selfish statements now. Turns out that the the team working on StrmnNrmn's Daedalus N64 emulator project for the PSP has decided to actually release a beta version before their final R14 release (clarification: their own DaedalusX64-tailored R14 release). Y'know, a beta version to whet your appetites before the main course.

As far as we the devs know the final issues we had are gone. The Beta 1 Release Candidate is in circulation among our Alpha Testers. After this final set of checks we will be releasing the Beta 1 in less than 18hrs from this message for public release.

We still have big plans for Beta 2 and it will likely take longer than three weeks this time around, but we may release a patch update if bugs are found that we can put a quick fix to. 4 Devs have contributed code to this build. Others are planning on code for the Beta 2. We still have a long ways to go, but we feel that it's time to let everyone enjoy the work we have put in so far.

So. 18 hours eh? Either you can check back later on today, or first thing tomorrow morning when you wake up, rest assured, DaedalusX64 RC1 will be floating around by then!

Great job to every one who contributed. Also, Thank You! Can't wait :)
by _YOUR_MOM_ - 2008-11-11 09:03:50
yes

as you said. This should...But is it actually going to? AFAIK there is still a huge performance gain waiting to be achieved to call out a success. Talking of OOT this means a fps boost of a rough 100%...just wondering....

Yes!

I can't wait to play OoT in school. I mean...on the bus! By the way, nice job adding the "Still Alive" lyric in there. I love that song. =)

Response and real news

@_YOUR_MOM_ Lol, not seeing that soon. But speed increases are going to be a main goal of beta 2. @QJ Also QJ needs to get their news right. THERE IS GOING TO BE NO R14 FULL VERSION. LOL, we changed the version format out of respect for Strmnnrmn's original project. @Everyone Should be 11hrs to release from this post barring major multi-rom/stability bugs and that's the real news.

Nice to hear from ya mate!

"Also QJ needs to get their news right. THERE IS GOING TO BE NO R14 FULL VERSION. LOL, we changed the version format out of respect for Strmnnrmn's original project." Ayt, got it. Thanks for the clarification. ;-) the reason why I mentioned "a beta version before their final R14 release" in the second paragraph is simply because I was basing it off a previous post where you said that "11/01/08 I've now taken the R13 changes and added them to R14. So, I'm fully switching to the R14 code." So... I was assuming that when you said you'll be switching to R14, that'd be ultimately like releasing an R14 version, but tailored by your own team. ;-) Sorry for the confusion. I'll iron out that part in the article after I post this comment. Anyways, congrats with the progress guys! Regards to the rest of the team! Woohoo! ^_^V

this is insane!

how is it these guys do more in a month than StrmnNrmn did in YEARS?!?!
by SynGamer - 2008-11-11 15:30:47
Re:

Because StrmnNrmn laid the foundation for everything the developers are working on now. Basically, the current build could be considered 80% Strmn, 20% new devs in terms of code.

YUH!

i'll download it while i'm at school and test it out in 4th block. pretty sweet. can't wait to try it out.
by Kreationz - 2008-11-11 17:17:30
More than Strmn.

Nahh... 95% of the code is still his. And we have had 5 different coders that have added code. He's done most of the work it just has to be bug checked and performance analyzed. To emulate a 90+ Mhz system on a 333mhz one is one hell of a programming feat. Even as fast as it is. By comparison most PC emus need a 1GHz machine at an absolute minimum and then some...

hmmmm

School is to learn. And you shouldn't download stuff at school either. Just learn patience. It'll still be available after school too. And why would you use your psp in school? Shame on you

yessir

even in college people bring their portable gaming devices. I once saw a dude playing that pokemon puzzle game for the DS while he was in one of the computer rooms. I even used to play Polarium while waiting for class to start.

by JaXeRiR - 2008-11-12 08:21:28
What the...

When I open the ZIP file I downloaded from SourceForge.net, "daedalusx64_beta_1.zip", Avast! Antivirus says that "A Virus Was Found! File name: C:\Program Files\WinRAR\WinRAR.exe Malware type: Win32:Trojan-gen (Other)" This only happens when I open the DaedalusX64 ZIP..
by dragonracer900 - 2008-11-12 12:25:02
@ JaXeRiR

I didnt have any viruses, could just be Avast. You can scan the file with another program just to be safe. Make sure the file is downloaded from the link above. Other than that I wouldnt worry about it.
