Sony PlayStation Portable - Image 1Do you find yourself confused and befuddled when it comes to installing your custom firmwares to your PSP? Neophyte PSP owners will be happy to know that Moose_Island over at the QJ.Net Forums was kind enough to set up a CFW installation guide for their benefit. This tutorial is written specifically for the recently released CFW v3.51 M33 by Team M33, and details fw's installation for either PSP fw 1.50, or other OE firmwares.

Before you get started, just make sure to have at least 75% left on your PSP's battery, a copy of the CFW 3.51 M33 file, and a USB cable to hook up your PSP to the PC. As a brief recap, here are the current functions that CFW v3.51 M33 carries:
  • Ability to alter the CPU speed of the PSP
  • Recovery mode
  • Multi-region
  • Customize all your icons and more
The tutorial proper is available at the visit link to our QJ.Net Guides section for hacks, homebrews, and emulators.

i've been holding back on installing this CFW cause i've heard many bugs about this CFW...i'll wait untill the other "unknown" hackers make their version of CFW that MAY be better than Dark Alex's work.

» SICK OF NEGATIVE COMMENTS!!!

thankyou for making this guide and thankyou to everyone who continues to develop for the psp homebrew community.

if you dont like someones work why not suggest a way for them to improve it or better still develop something yourself instead of being jerkoffs and bagging people out.

» Customize all your icons and more

"Customize all your icons and more" - I keep hearing that when people try to customize Icons they get simi-bricks. So then how is it done? Also how does one go about freeing up space in Flash 0 on this new fw???

by noob - 2007-07-15 19:38
» ICONS?

what kinda icons and XMB custom themes are compatible with this Russian thingy?

I mean do I use all 3.40 icons and theme flasherers?

thanks

If people still think it's really hard, they're pretty dense considering you install it exactly the same way you did with all the old CFW's.

» this firmware is best

This firmware is totally awesome

but there it one thing if you update the WLAN fix delete the se conifg

at least thats what I had to do.

by DJ - 2007-07-15 21:11
» i agree ben...

anyway...how hard could this possibly be?! its simpler than OE.

by me - 2007-07-16 00:43
» Wha...?

I dont get it.

Maybe you try complete sentences next time?

by mohaas05 - 2007-07-16 02:21
» it IS OE

look at the recovery menu...its IDENTICAL to OE's. and all themes and features are the same as OE firmwares. Either someone reversed engineered OE and made it compatible wit h the 3.51 kernel or this is DaX's work.

by 2MoonsRise - 2007-07-16 02:25
» NICE

I know there should be someone continuous Dark AleX's work!!!!!!!!!!! !!!

NICE WORK TEAM M33!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!

NOW I DON'T HAVE TO WORRY THAT MY PSP IS GOING TO BE USELESS LOLOLOLOOLOL!!! !!!!!!!!!!!! !!

by if i update - 2007-07-16 04:19
» if i update

if I flash this, and another CFW comes out will I be able to flash that, overriding M33?

by mohaas05 - 2007-07-16 05:13
» yes

its just like OE. If the new installer for a future custom firmware properly formats the flash0 and the ipl then it will be just fine.

Why the impressive amounts of children on QJ?

Leave M33 alone, their CFW is brilliant.

If you have nothing productive to comment on, DONT COMMENT.

» recovery

guys, is this firmware compatible with DA's recovery files? say, if i wanted to recover back to 1.5 again? i noticed that the recovery mode of this fw is identical to DA's so i'm assuming it will still need the same recovery files as DA's fw. still, i want to know if some of you guys have tried downgrading from this fw to 1.g again? thanks for all the info.

» Cavestory

I can confirm Cavestory is not working on my PSP

-_-

by INT - 2007-07-16 19:40
» CAVESTORY!

nvm I had a corupt eboot

it works no need to be alarmed

by INT - 2007-07-16 19:45
» Homebrew not working

I found that if you actually take the homebrew that's not working a rewrite it to the memstick it will usually resolve issues with this firmware.

I don't know why but Cavestory wasn't working I took it off and put it back on and it worked

also I think it has somthing to do with changing 3.XX firmware Folder or whatever you were at and changing it to 3.51

Just somthing I found that made 2 of my homebrew games work. Quake2 and Cave Story

» Good Begining

Well if this is not a stolen/or reverse engg. of D_A work.. The region spoofing or Fake region should work.

Because Dark_Alex never succeeded to hack the Region Lock for Movies....

Lets see and watch. I would like to get the comments from other M33 fw users about this when they play other regions UMD Movies in PSP

Is it really that hard to install a *****ing CFW? Put two eboots with the correct names in one folder and run the update maker, then run the installer. In fact, it's easier than installing OE.

by yoti93 - 2007-07-17 04:48
» Huh...

I think i will stay on 3.40 OE, later, i will only copy 3.51's remote play modules and copy them to 3.40, that's all.

hey dudesw i still wanna know if you can dowgrade to 1.5?

by Question? - 2007-07-17 17:04
» o.k.

I was just wondering if there are any recovery files for this new firmware. I don't want to install it until I see some recovery files ( like the ones in 3.40 oea ) with it. because if the new CFW doesn't work well. I want to able to go back to oe.

Anyone know if there is a recovery. Thanks in advance.
