It's only been two days, but budding developer mark.sparky has already addressed some concerns with his fun gambling game Horses with version 1.1. Horses v1.1 addresses a glitch mentioned on the QJ Development Forums, where the horses just kept going after the race was over. For those who haven't picked up Horses v1.0, the game is a horse gambling sim for your PSP. You start out with $50 and you bet on who will win the race. If you win, you make money, and losing... is not fun.
You can choose your strategy for betting as much as you want, but it all boils down to luck and a lot of shouting at your PSP to make your horse go faster. Simple enough concept perhaps, but the execution is quite endearing, and the horses are cute sprites.
For the most part, Horses is a lua game that shows the spirit of homebrew. A good game doesn't need millions of dollars to make it addictive and fun. It just needs a lot of heart, and maybe a cute horse sprite as well.
