Dark_AleX: PSP Firmware 2.70 working on PSP Slim thanks to Time Machine - Image 1

The Time Machine has been aptly named. The app was first revealed showing that it can install the 1.50 kernel on the PSP Slim. Now, Mathieulh has posted new pictures that show it can install Firmware 2.70 as well.

Brief PSP history check: Firmware 2.70 was released back in 2006 and was the firmware update that introduced Flash 6 support. The firmware made the development of flash games on the PSP possible.

This is only the second feat Time Machine has been shown to do and we're excited to see what else the program will be able to do once it's finished. We'll keep you posted on updates. Here are the pics:

I truely think this is Great News for the PSP world ... course that just means my PSP Original has once again decreased in value :-(

But question ... can't the Slim handle Flash 6? Why the need to have Time Machine do 2.70 fw?

Unfortunately 1.5 kernel on the slim may have disadvantage to just using the 3.XX kernel. It may not have access to the extra RAM, no TV out, limited to 4GB memory sticks, no WPA WiFi, and others.

I am confused about the switching from French to English mid install... Does that happen to anyone else?

hi, i have a slim, and daedalus works on it anyways, the slim has the 1.00 kernal, which dadalus can run on, therefore, all you have to do is download it for 1.00 firmware and put it in game folder

# The PSP is running a FW --LOWER-- than 2.70...ValiX 2008-02-01 18:45
His Slim must already be running FW 1.50. If you look at the changelog for the 2.70 installation (bottom left pic),

The top 2 features that are added are:

- UMD Music can now be played under [Music].

- An Internet browser has been added.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but these 2 features were added in the FW 2.00 update.

Also if you look at the bar on the left side, the blue bit is small meaning that the list of features added is extremely long.

This probably means that he already has FW 1.00 / FW 1.50 running on his Slim although they are probably not stable.

While all things are possible, it seems unlikely that DAX would tarnish his reputation with a silly prank. I suspect he has many programs in development that we have no idea about. Like major corporations, DAX will make announcements on these kinds of software when they are ready. But if the past is any indication, QJ has definitely provided incorrect information from time to time.

Lets see, everytime Sony releases a new firmware, they think they have made changes that make it hack proof, so since Sony says it can't be done, it must be true.. yet here you are, on a site that lists homebrew and hacks for the newest versions of the PSP firmware. Gee, how on earth did AleX manage to do that when Sony said it wasn't possible.

Look at the Youtube video rather than the screenshots on this page... it is clearly a PSP Slim and it is running v1.50 firmware.

It is amazing how you suddenly became the expert on what can and can't be done on a PSP slim. Thanks for letting me know I was duped by AleX because I must be a total idiot to have believed it could be possible [heavy sarcasm]
