Dark AleX: CFW PSP 3.80 M33-5 now available *Update* |

We've just been alerted that Dark AleX will soon be releasing CFW PSP 3.80 M33-5 soon. Not much details have been given as to what this fifth version of the original M33-5 CFW might have, but for now, we go by the global message sent in through Dark AleX's IRC channel:
-Global- ahem.... your attention please, M33-5 soon to ve released over the network update (I am going to global whenever it is so avoid refreshing the website or the network update feature every minutes) Thanks for your understanding
Again, please be advised that, to respect the developer's wishes, we shouldn't bombard nor pressure them in releasing the CFW in a rush.

*Update* Right! So it's out! Man, that was quick! CFW PSP 3.80 M33-5 is now available! Check out the changelog
- Fixed custom CPU clock not working in games
- CPU clock has never (in any SE/OE/M33) be set at all in games that restarted using sceKernelLoadExec to use a subgame or reload themselves, after said restart happened (e.g. Castlevania). Fixed.
- Added setting to recovery to hide PIC0.PNG and PIC1.PNG in the XMB game menu
- By default off, when on you will probably notice a faster browse in XMB games.
- This setting only applies to any kind of apps/games (pbp, iso) that load from MS, but not to UMD's.

I already got the update through network update. I happened to be upgrading a frinds psp to 3.80 m33 and noticed it said 3.80-5 when i checked the system info. Sweet, must be the first one!

The New things on this update are something like "fixed CPU clock which was not working in-game" and something to do with recovery looool

The clockspeed in GTA is working now, it's a lot faster than before. ty DAX!
it actually does make going into an ISO alot quicker with the hide ICON0 ICON1 thing =)

yh i just happened to be updating to 3.80 m33, wen it appeared, i though the number was wrong or sumfin at first...
if you were trying to upgrade to 3.80 m33 using network update would'nt it come up with 3.80 m33-4 not the original?????

Annoyed at the clock speed issue and just overall bad feeling of 3.80m33 was giving me, I pandoraed back to 3.71m33-2. And when I go to download update 4, I see 3.80m33-5 that fixes the clock speed. That's bull****.
This is exactly why these sites need to be constantly informed by the source (ie: Team M33, Dark_Alex, and Math, whoever) on what they are doing, what problems they know about, and whether they are working on them and think they're going to fix it soon.
I'm not updating M33 unless I have to for Pro Street and/or God of War. Hopefully I don't have to 'cause 3.71 seems better. But I guess it's good to know that that issue is fixed if I HAVE to update. Errrrrrrrrr, so annoyed.
is the "information" pic... when you're looking at a game, there are three things on the screen (besides the rest of the PSP icons)...
correction: 4 things you see and one you HEAR.
the main background, the STATIC icon, the ANIMATED icon (if you have one), the information pic and the background "music" (again, if you have one).
the information pic is the one that goes "explore the vast worlds of so and so" on the right side of the screen. it can actually be just another pic (of a character or something).

It's incredible that you can STILL find something to complain about.
No one was forcing you to upgrade, and you should know by now that every new CFW release comes with a few bugs. DAX has been releasing updates faster than ever, but you couldn't even wait a few more days so you just Pandora'd back to 3.71 M33-2 like a pansy. You want our sympathy or something?
Well, at least now you can go to 3.80 M33-5 if you really want, and maybe in a few days you can find something else to cry about!

Ok while I play some iso games my psp would freeze as soon as it tries to load the save and load option.

Do you have to have a OFW lower than 3.80 'cuz when i tried it, it said,"The system software of your PSP(TM) system is version 3.80.There is no need to update."Can you help me out?
just get the ISO so you wont have to upgrade.
throw your PSP at your wall and it will work. nah hahaha!! seriously, try switching ISO engines or whatever in vhsmenu.

billeylee8, I thought the reason for DaX's postponing was to not have to make small updates right off the bat. I thought he was taking his presious time to make it as close to perfect as he could before releasing it. How was I supposed to know this update was going to come in a "few more days" when those guys don't keep people updated as much as we should be.
Metal Jody, thanks for not being a punk like the other guys. So ISO's can be a higher FW than what's on my PSP and still work? That would good.
Obviously you didn't do any research. You can not use the Network Update to install custom firmware 3.80 M33 unless you already HAVE 3.80 M33-1 installed.
Also, you can't use ANY custom firmware without first having a Pandora Battery and a magic memstick.
Once you pandora your PSP to custom firware, then install 3.80 M33 first release, THEN you can use Network Update to install any later updates of M33 as they are released.
cant people just use google. so easy to find that answer that has been answered a million times.

I do like his work, but I don't like that he doesn't acknowledge (quickly, bluntly, and openly) that he is working on a particular problem, and give a reasonable estimate as to when it would be fixed. I know a lot of people chose to do that because of wanting 3.80 to have the wrinkles ironed out.

man. I don't know how to hack my psp. I have version 3.80 (non-custom firmware). Some people say you can't hack it, but i saw a video with the same psp slim (darthvader) I havewhich was the same version and all he did was use pandora and magic memory stick. Uhm is that all i need to do ? and btw the firmware it downgrades to is 3.71 m33.. yaddah yaddah.

I'm running 3.72 HX-2 and i can't install this new firmware on my psp phat.... it plays 95% of the "psp" animation and then just locks up with a white screen for a little while and then turns itself off.... help.... pls...

The Network Update feature doesnt work for me though, it always downloads a corrupted update, Grrr.

The New Network Feature Downloads the next CFW not OFW, say you were on 3.80 m33-4, if you went to network update it would download m33-5, =D
....seems to be the only good thing about it. Yea he fixed the clock speed in game, but it's still not as stable and clean as 3.71. Don't do it unless you have to.
All I did was state my situation and my opinion on it. All my bad mouthing was only in response to everyone else's bad mouthing towards me. So according to you, they should get a STFU as well.
"Let the big people worry about these things," how how do you think I am? Just because you DaX worshipers don't agree with my line of thought doesn't mean you're somehow superior and I'm of "small" age.

GTFO! You batch of ignoramuses couldn't wait just a FEW days for the new update? If so, you don't even deserve a CFW in the first place. I knew the problems existed, and I knew DAX would address them, as usual. I waited, I got what I wanted, I'm happy.
But no, people are never happy, they're just spoiled, ungrateful noobs that think they know everything there is to PSP hacking and modding, and are never satisfied with anything at all. You have no idea how hard it is to even create the CFW's in the first place, so you have no right to whine and bash DAX or his CFW (unless it's extremely constructive criticism or something). So until you noobs make your own CFW by yourself, without reverse-engineering DAX's or anyone else's CFW, just be quiet. It's that simple.

1. None of those guys tell us what they are doing, so how were people supposed to know that:
a.) They knew about it.
b.) They were trying to fix it.
c.) They were going to release a fix in
a "FEW days".
2. I've had a PSP for three years, so I wouldn't consider myself a "noob", and I don't think I "know everything".
3. I am "satisfied" with things most of the time, but don't have to "just be quiet" when I'm not.
Unless you want Internet Radio and whatever else wonderful 3.80M33 has to offer. I went back to 3.71 M33-2 myself, then to 3.71 M33-4. Seems a lot more solid than 3.80 M33.
I don't think you did anything wrong concerning the stupid Dracula icon, that was supposed to be fixed in like M33-2 I thought, but I still had it in M33-4. Maybe it's fixed in -5, but I doubt it.
Stay at 3.71 unless you need to update for a game or want Interent Radio. But hey, that's just my opinion.

I thought that was fixed with 3.80 M33-2 but I'm on 3.80 M33-5 and just started a new game and sure enough the game save an alucard icon ?:/
