DaedalusX64 R14 update: R14 based code is a go *Update* |
Ó
Here's an update on the new Daedalus project, or rather, the DaedalusX64 project, which picks up after StrmnNrmn's R13 release. This update comes from Kreationz, and it looks like a pretty good start for R14:
11/01/08 I've now taken the R13 changes and added them to R14. So, I'm fully switching to the R14 code. So currently:
- R14 Code Base with:
- All R12-R13 broken ROMs now running (TLoZ:MM and others...)
- Speed Limiter Fixed
- Sync displays proper values when Show Framerate is On
- Logo/Preview bug I had in R13 is gone
- Debug Screens are turned off (No pressing [] to continue)

*Update* Kreationz has given quite a beefy update on the progress of DaedalusX64, recounting all the tweaks he, Wally, and Chilly Willy have managed so far. It's mostly a collection og streamlining the code and tying lose ends from StrmnNrmn's code. More importantly though, we're also given a hint as to when we get the first public beta release:
With all three of these updates [from Kreationz, Wally, and Chilly Willy] we now have better speed and compatibility than any prior version of Daedalus(R12-R14 included). There will be another Alpha in 2-3 days max. After this is tested(in bout a week), the SVN will go online. All the developers will have access. Then in December everyone will have read-only access with the developers having write capability. The first public beta will come out about that time. (Read: Early December.. 1st-5th time frame.)

old.
In my personal opinion you, QJ are hypeing this DaedalusX64 project a bit too much. I'm not trying to diss the makers and I hope they will make a great update to the emulator, but come on.. this is ridiculous.
If we want DaedalusX64 updates we will go to daedalusx64.com, right? Of course it's a bit different for big updates like DX64 RELEASES etc.
Once again, I just want everyone to know that I respect the makers of DX64 and I think they're doing a great job but..
you kidding? this is a NEWS SITE!!! they're doing there jobs and fulfilling the purpose of this site and conglomerating news about each of there categories and reporting it here (eliminating the need to go to other places just to check). i check this site multiple times a day and its great that they DO provide this kinda news because it would suck to have to go to a developers site for every application you want to check on! thank for reporting this stuff. its good to here!
I was gonna say what Spankmaster was. QJ is just doing its job god dammit!
good to hear some real progress on this project from real coders. not just some false promises from some dude who is shiny.
interesting (good) to see how he is not even mentioned in this release.
i greatly look forward to testing out there release.
this is exciting. i'm looking forward to the release
I'm pretty sure shiny wasn't lieing and Isn't he still part of the team or did I miss something?
This seems very believable really great news, I hope it doesn't get delayed more than it is currently.
For a constantly updating compatibility list for Daedalus go to Myspace.com/Daedaluspspcomp atibility
To clarify it for people that don't believe this will be better, they have some skilled people in it. Shiny, Chilly Willy (worked snes emulator mod), Wally (a skilled coder), CaptainMorgan, and more...so it's gonna be much better as they have tested some games and say there is indeed a big speedboost.
...but which games will be running at full speed?
I am soooo looking forward to a release of Daedalus that will play games at full speed, even if it is only a few of them. I am not saying I believe or disbelieve that this will happen, but I am thankful that some people decided to pick up where Strmnrmn left off. The success of this project will likely revitalize the PSP homebrew scene. )
Right now, Daedalus can't play anything. The roms are all way too slow. Without full speed, you can't realistically call it working.
Like kittykat said ^ "even if it is only a few of them", it'd be great to finally play something on the n64 on our psps.
this is what ive always wanted since before i first hacked my psp. this would be the ultimate dream come true.
to the team who is re-doing daedalus, i just wanna say stay motivated on your mission, because this is one of the greatest undertakings in all of psp hacking. i hope you know the infinite joy you will bring to psp hackers around the world.
Forsaken 64 runs perfectly. full speed with sound, without a hitch. mario 64 is perfectly playable with sound off, and there are a good 15 games that are ALMOST up there with mario in terms of playabillity, such as banjo kazooie, lylat wars, super smash bros, etc. if there was about a 5-6 frame per second increase in speed for those games, plus sound support, they'd be perfect
FPS increase is great and all, but i won't play a game without sound. Simply can't.
forsaken and mario are the only 2 games that work well enough to play.
super smash brothers besides that if ad-hoc can be enable for mario cart with sound at 90 to 95% speed then I can say I can't ask for anything else from you.
Holy *****, "I can't ask anything else from you except a functioning ad-hoc enabled emulator even though 90% of the games don't work, also I would like it to run at 95% speed even though Mario (Occasionally) and Forsaken are the only ones that can run that well."
Oh yes, no problem.

So basically you're just bragging that you knew about it first and want credit for knowing where to find it before qj can update us on it. Guess what. Nobody cares. Keep you're comments to yourself next time.
