Kreationz of the Daedalusx64 project has released the changelog of the program's latest build, and it looks like a pretty hefty update! The PSP N64 emulator now has TV out support, increased audio buffers, and a number of other fixes:
  • [+] TV Out Support (Chilly Willy)
  • [+] ME Audio Supported (Small speed-up with sound on.) (Chilly Willy)
  • [+] Increased audio buffers for better sound quality (Kreationz)
  • [!] Fixed Screen shots (Chilly Willy)
  • [!] Fixed an OoT Custom Blend Mode (Wally)
  • [!] Fixed shaking by using double display lists (Fixes GoldenEye 007 and others) (idea Wally, code Kreationz)
  • [!] Fixed FPS Display and Framerate limiter (Kreationz)
  • [^] Optimized code generation for fragments which branch to themselves is now optional
  • Fixes games that broke from R12-13 (Kreationz)
  • [^] Further avoid invalidating the instruction cache when possible.(Small Speedup) (Kreationz)
Kreationz also mentions that version Alpha 4 is already circulating among testers.

Here's a comparison vid of R13 against the x64 release, playing - of course - Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. PSPdemon, who posted the video, notes that the emu has a speed increase from the R13 release of Daedalus. It's also worth noting that "skies don't disappear" and "rooms are (partially) fixed."

A big thanks to Penpvdbs for the tip!

looks like its comming along pretty freakin good to me. looks like some people got some ass kissing to do. They never said full speed but for a freakin alpha clip thats pretty damn good. Cant wait for smash brothers @ 25-30 fps. i KNOW thats gotta possible seeing OOT up there and the fact that with the right setting Smash brothers ran about 20 for me before. Cannot WAIT for this!!!

...holy... crap...

This is a great improvement guys!

You got links house showing up (except for the top down) and pretty good speed increase. I never thought I would see Zelda playable. maybe Mario, but I thought Zelda just was too much. It still isn't playable, but it looks close enough that it's a possibility now. I can't wait for this release.

Have any improvements been made to audio processing? in mario, the game is full speed mostly aside from when music gets more notes at once you get slowdown.

Want to use this post to say that the video showned is for alpha 1, not alpha 4, so right now Legend of Zelda should be running around 1-3 fps in-game more than showned on the video. Its still a long way from getting the game to run at 30fps but it may be possible, and seeing hwo als going we may see egend of Zelda running at over 20fps with sound before 2010, maybe even before summer.

# correction...spankmaster 2008-11-10 10:12
actually it turns out on the r14 beta i can get between 30 and 40 fps on smash brothers one on one. frameskip 2 and some other settings changed and it is very playable! so if we get another 5-10 or so fps on smash brothers it will be at literal full speed! cant wait!!!!! aH!!!

It looks like Zelda running at 30 FPS might really be possible, I love that you can actually see the room and not it being all green.

I would also hope for great audio for the games but its best that they take their time improving other important things.

I can't imagine playing a Zelda game without audio! :(

Nonetheless I appreciate the improvements and dedication of the coders.

# About sound, and soon to be released public BetaKreationz 2008-11-10 15:01
For those that asked about sound

"[+] ME Audio Supported (Small speed-up with sound on.) (Chilly Willy)

[+] Increased audio buffers for better sound quality (Kreationz)

"

This means with sound on there is less of a drop in frame rate and better quality at the same time. Mario 64 is almost fully playable with sound on.

P.S. Beta 1 should be out within a week if all goes as planned.
