CFW 3.51 M33-7 in action

What we have below is a video clip from user name "victormartins" showing his PlayStation Portable running on CFW 3.51 M33-7. Aside from showing off the rather beautiful gameboot and wave on the XMB, this video should convince those who have yet see the custom firmware's features and stability.

Custom firmware is probably the hottest thing in the PSP homebrew scene right now. It's no wonder updates from this team of hackers is being closely followed by the community. Anyway, enough chit-chat from us. Here's the video clip and enjoy!

Does the background and icons come as standard with the CFW? That may tempt me to upgrade from 3.40OEA!

# No, but...Guest 2007-07-24 05:26
The custom firmware does not come with these additions, but there are various applications that add the icons, background, waves, etc. to the firmware. The fact that the custom firmware has an auto boot option means that if you install a theme or file that causes problems with the PSP's XMB menu then you can always recover from it easily.

stupid thing is, the stability has NOT been a problem at all! it works fine! The updates have just been developing no-umd mode, and using sony's iso loader n all that! But people get it wrong in their head.. "OH UPDATE? IT MUST BE UNSTABLE"..

But i dont like the sound when he moves between icons. Probably coz its the same sound when you get an error on your psp so i associate it with bad things.

But yeah, whats the point in this video!

maybe because the MAC address tells where a peroson lives, their SSN, what a person is thinking.

Actually I dont really kno why

# Bah.Guest 2007-07-24 07:16
They just do that because one dumb person saw another dumb person doing it in some video that QJ probably posted, and then they thought, "Well, when in Rome, do what the Romans do!" and decided to start doing it themselves.

# It's your online ID [rolleyes]Guest 2007-07-24 07:27
MAC address is used as your ID during online play. If Sony ever wanted to start blacklisting people like Microsoft did with people who hacked their XBOXes, then you'd be wise to keep this ID safe. Truth is, Microsoft is smart to blacklist hacked consoles from online play. Hacked consoles can run cheats, which ultimately destroy the fairness and ultimately the fun factor of the online gaming community. And without the online gaming community, the console wouldn't be doing nearly as well as it is.

I have just tested the M33 3.51 firmware with a few UMDs and was unable to start at least one game that I had in my (pitifully small) collection which worked perfectly on DAX's firmware. The M33 firmware seems pretty stable, but there are still a few bugs to work out. Not that this is a big issue since the game sucked anyway and I am sure that this firmware's bugs will be sorted out eventually.

MAC adresses can be either changed or spoofed. When you play online is your ISP who identifies the conection, and Sony is able to do online checks about the firmware running (p.e. via the web browser) and about the unique keys (the ones that became corrupted when you use some of the firsts downgraders that could identify a PSP, and of course, the also unique hardcoded PSP serial number. Those are the ways Sony can identify a PSP, not the MAC adress...

# waves and system informationGuest 2007-07-24 10:49
The point of the video i think is the fact that the M33 firmware would not work with custom waves properly before. If you went to the system info page, the psp would crash. This is proof that i can finally get my blue waves back onto the same background they were using. A lot of people like to customise their xmb's, this update adds a little more.

For the person up there, the theme is black32 encore i believe, which includes that background image.

It's actually a handy video for me, as i know i can use waveflasher again :P

Thank god the system info works in the xmb.....i thought it would never load. This video is so stupid. WHY QJ, WHY?!

Sticking with 3.40 OE-A till XMB modification is completely do-able and of course, HOMEBREW COMPATIBILITY becomes stable. Because around 40% of homebrew doesnt work with M33, and no, u cant see that with this stupid video. Waiting for a different CF besides M33 cause they suck ass.

now a fw 3.52 from them..

http://www.whiteone.us/index.php/2007/07/25/cfw-352-m33-released/

Here is the latest update:

- Now uses 3.52!!!

- M33 NO-UMD: fixed problem with Simple 2500 Series Portable, The IQ Cube

- Fix a bug which made Go!Cam, GPS and sceKernelLoadEx ecVSH* not work in game mode.

- PSN downloaded PSX games support wasn’t working in 3.51 M33 (didn’t work in latest OE’s either). Now it is working again. If an original PSN game still doesn’t work, we recommend to delete files KEYS.BIN if exists, and copy the game again from ps3 to psp.

Team M33
