3.30 OE custom firmware delayed; no "new big innovation" either |

So the master has a bricked PSP...but really, when did that ever stop this guy from pursuing what he's already started?
As has been reported, the release of 3.30 OE custom firmware will probably not come in a few hours' (or even a couple of days') time. According to PSP-Gen, Dark_AleX cannot work on the 3.30 OE at the moment because of the little problem we've mentioned above. But the homebrew community shouldn't worry as he's just waiting for his new PSP to arrive at his doorstep anytime soon.
We've also gotten word from splodger15 from the ZionMax forums that the man himself talked a bit about the 3.30 OE custom firmware. Rumor has it that there'll be a "big new innovation" with 3.30 OE. But DaX clearly stated that "3.30 OE at first will not have any innovation except the fact of being 3.30". In addition to this, he also said that this new custom firmware will take several versions because of the complex processes he'll have to perform.
Right now the priority for the future is to radically [sic] change the core of OE, to eliminate the instability of the programming (that is especially evident in 3.10) and to gain some more space for the ram.
So there you have it, an "update" to what's up with the anticipated 3.30 OE custom firmware from Dark_AleX. Stick around for more news.

as i see it there's two ways to compleatly brick a psp nowdays, thx to DaX, and whichever was the couse, could hint out what DaX is doing with the new firm 1. u flash a whole firm, but during the process something goes realy wrong, and thus compleatly bricked psp. Since dax already made a few custom FW-s and all their installers were pretty safe, than the couse of this could be that DaX is trying out new ways to flash other than what he used before. 2. someone's messing with the prx that loads the recovery menu. So if this is the case, that means he's adding loads of new features to the recovery menu

I would rather him take his time and release it all together than him release the new features slowly over a couple weeks. Anyhow, that is just my opinion ;)
can't the problem with limited flash space be fixed by removing the photo and web section from the flash, then putting them on the memstick, then make them useable through plugins?

Sounds like 3.30 may have some serious under-the-hood changes. At the very least, I'd expect Sony to be using almost all of the PSP's flash space with the new firmware considering how they're compressing and cramming things in, and the recent poll on what features people wouldn't mind losing. As far as I'm concerned, I'd rather wait and have it done _correctly_ rather than fast. There aren't any games out that require 3.30 yet, so there's really no rush. Sorry to hear about the bricked hardware, though.

Supposedly it's broken, not just bricked, with an unknown cause. I believe with all the flashing he does, he has a modchip installed. I submitted news about this earlier, but I suppose alot of other people did too, so i'm not fussed. The reason why there are no good games for the PSP is because developers don't want to sink money into a flopped system. And learn to spell before you go criticizing others.
My guess is he was testing it on a TA-082 or -086 so he could be completely sure it would be compatible with all PSP's (if it works on a TA-082 or -086, chances are it's going to work on all PSPs) and since there's no working modchip for -082/-086, it's completely bricked... but I could be wrong.
gonna donate now. I encourage anyone else who can to do so also. Getting him $200 is the least we can do.
Shame that he bricked out a PSP. I'm glad he's working on the new firmware though. Hopefully we'll get custom icon support again with 3.30! We appreciate your hard work DAX!
maybe thats the big secret hes got planned, the ability to upgrade a ta-082 pss to 3.30 OE. because right now downgraded ta-082 psp's with CFW cant upgrade to the official 3.30 firmware.
its flopped because of iso users.. you can go to pspiso.com register for free and download any game.. FOR FREE. thats why its a flopped system.. the ds has no features except gay chat. but it has more games. Its not sonys fault that all these iso users download games illegally.

IT WAS NOT A BRICK! You can't brick a PSP with UP you *****ing morons, he said he had hardware problems this does not mean he briked... He has 2 PSPs, one with UP and one white normal PSP the white was already briked for some time and the one with UP *****ed up for other reason... You QJ *****s can't even get this right....

Dark Alex is THE best and glad he is still working on OE! :) my psp rules thanks to him! and without OE, my psp would ONLY serve as a internet tablet (or whatever you call them) and Mp3 player. but with OE i got games,Apps AND the Awesome Recovery menu!(the most handiest thing) and thank for the Hard work Dark Alex! my psp is Alive!
credit where credits due i believe harleyg is the master behind recovery mode have a look at his proof of concept firmware it basically flashes recovery mode into 1.50
I donated $20 to him and think that EVERYONE else should donate like $5 too... I mean $5, you won't even miss it... but if everyone gives $5, he can get a new PSP and not get discouraged about bricking

His firmwares are brilliant. if he's bricked his PSP with a UP then something seriously went wrong. (maybe sony have found a way to corrupt the chip??) Still waiting for theis but when its ready its ready, cant rush art. some painters spent years on their work, some right up to death, before completing it. Go DaX! Go DaX! sorry to hear about your psp, when your messing with the cutting edge of things, stuff like that happends, keep up the good work tho! custom firmware = the best! Also, the analog nub has no use in the xmb, I think that would be a cool improvement in the next OE, using the nub to do something (mp3, screenshot, reboot, poweroff, recovery, usb).
yes he has a chipped psp but not that 1 he broke it. The U.P is TA-079 or 081. I believe he broke his TA-082 or 086 trying to flash the cf into it. I sure he wanted to code 1 cf tat fits all motherboard (TA-079,081,082 and 086).

I have hacked many PSP'S for people with the tools he made and his custom firmwares are the best so the guy deserves lots of credit for his great work hopefully he can overcome this snag and have a new great custom firmware soon so I sent him $40.00 you people should send something for his good work.

Just wanted to take the time to thank you for working on this, since so many of us can't. Sorry about the bricked PSP, but hey, omelettes... eggs... we all know how it works. Just a quick thanks to you for all the work you have put in on actually making the PSP a viable and fun platform. I know before you came along, I was pissed that I bought a PSP. Since you got into firmware hacking, I haven't put the damn thing down. Hopefully my thanks and a couple bucks for your time will help you out. I know you have helped me.

Aside from the Hotspot instant-access, why do we need this to get done so fast? Everything else is in the current CE. Just relax people. I swear some of you people spend more time flashing your PSPs then you do actually USING your PSPs...

Yes you can. You can downgrade to 1.50 and then upgrade to 3.30 oe-a when it comes out, but dont upgrade beyond 3.03

yes he does..Obviously a 1.50 orginal lying around untouch... But I bet orginally he has 2 1.5 psp and 1 ta-82...
You must use the 3.03 to 1.50 downgrader. Then install 3.03 OE or 3.10 OE. 3.30 OE isnt out yet but once it is, you will be able to upgrade from any other custom firmware.
didn't DaX create 1.50 PoC? Well anyways he did make it a standard component for custom firmwares and greatly improved on it too with options such as USB flash access. In fact it is probably one of the best parts of SE and OE firmwares
I just donated 75$ US towards a new PSP for DAX so I pray it helps towards a quicker custom firmware release...

They're probably using your oe firmwarez, and if not, they're not enjoying all the features you added in all the custom firmwarez you've made. Keep up the good work! Donating ^.^ Btw, did DaX kill his mod chip? I'm pretty surprised he did all these flashing and still managed to keep it unbricked till now. Anyways, that's life, trial and error and then (hopefully) we learn from the mistakes.

I am not so sure DA actually bricked. Other sites say it just "broke". He must have a mod chip to fix bricks. Also, he mad the 3.10, 3.03 mix up and for that you need a mod chip.

PSP is the best handheld so far I think, as a geek, I love the PSP more than the DS cuz its more powerful and leaves more rooms for homebrews.
