Your very own Arcade cabinet: 3D ArcadePSP demo |
Ó
Wish you had your very own arcade cabinet at home huh? Well, at least virtually, this is as close as you can get. PSP homebrew developer Spanner's 3D ArcadePSP demo is based on a PC app that's used as a frontend for emulators.
It's a frontend-type of GUI that allows you to "walk around" a 3D environment (Myst-style) and activate the emulator by going to the Arcade cabinet on the corner. In this demo, activating the Arcade cabinet (hit the L-trigger when you're in front of it) will boot Mame4All.
Again, this is simply a demo. It would be nice if we could see where it could be applied and how far it can go.

It'd be cool to have one that you could boot anything from your PSP on it. For example, you walk over to your PSX, and select which disc you want to put in, then that boots up the PSX Game on your PSP.
which arcade is this for? Atari 2600, 5200, 7800. etc?
pretty hot i like its different can u add other emulator's
This reminds me a bit of home! If only in home we could have a psp, to load this. Think about it, u r virtually playing virtually playing a virtual game. IT"S THE FUTURE!!!!
when i saw it im like that looks like home they should get this and turn it into a home like app for the psp called it Dome lol
SNES, open up ZNES. GBA, open up GPSP. Genesis and Sega CD, open up PicoDrive, etc. Sure it's not needed, but it'd look awesome. :P.
They been doing games in games for a long time, i mean 2 i remember are Shenmue and Final Fantasy 7, and i bet existing games could be modded to do this, like going in a certain room in Halo could make the game pause and minimise and run an executable command to open an emulator.
having the virtual arcade cabinet boot into whatever emulators are on your memory stick? maybe adding "slots", with each one pointing to a different emulator. (slot1: PicoDrive, 2: Snes, 3:Masterboy, etc.) I've got one stick with just emulators and psx games. I'd be fine with it just letting you pick from the list of emulators.
What a waste of time. We haven't had a Mame4ALL update since November 2007 and even then it ran like dog *****. Why the ***** do people waste their time with 'features' like this when the core product is crap to begin with? Get a decent *****ing version of MAME running on the PSP for Christ's sake and THEN let's start playing with fancy front ends, eh?
