Xandu's Media Player v1.2c - Image 1

Music lovers, gather around. PSP homebrew coder Xandu has released his entry for this year's NEO Flash Summer Coding Competition, Xandu's Media Player version 1.2c.

Yes, you read it right. It's out of beta and ready to kick some behind in the homebrew competition. In case you aren't familiar with Xandu's Media Player (or XMP), it's a media player with an interface that looks like an iPod. It supports a number of the formats: .mp3, .wav, IT, MOD, S3M, and OGG. It also boasts of an amplified sound output compared to the regular XMB, music streaming, and playlists where folders can be placed inside other folders.

Version 1.2c was basically polished, sporting only aesthetic (graphical) and minor bug fixes. Anyway, the known issues from the last release haven't been squashed yet, hopefully, Xandu will be able to iron them out in the next release. The said issues include song length and large sized album art issues, and only version 1 of ID3 can be supported.

If this is the first time using Xandu's Media Player, we'd advise you to go over his PDF user manual. Oh, and if you like the app, why not show your appreciation by voting for XMP? Enjoy!

» Awesome

You had me at Ogg Vorbis support.

For the uninformed, Ogg Vorbis is an open-source wavelet codec that is almost twice as efficient as MP3, and still much better than AAC and WMA.

Can't wait for ID3v2 support, rock on man.

» iPod Volume

I think he should include the iPod Volume Clickwheel so we can Up & Down the Volume with the Analog.

That Would be a good idea to put that into the next version!!

Keep it up man

» I like it...

But I think he should fix the scroll bar so that it is correct size and distance from the top and bottem. (It needs to start at the top and move down at different speeds depending on how much music there is. More music, slower scroll bar, 20 songs, very quick scroll bar) Also, I still do not like the fonts very much. U should make them smaller and not as fuzzy. Finally I think that sometimes in the menu the arrow that tells u to press right to go to that next screen is not even with the other arrows. (When I say arrows i mean >) All in all, this thing is cool though.

» love it

i love it man. keep up the good work Xandu.

Do you reckon you could somehow incorporate searching for music while current music plays? that would be uber handy.

This has the makings of a great App.

Once you get the kinks worked out and add some more features, like FF RW Etc. it will most definitely be replacing my XMB Music player.
