pimp my XMB!!!

At a rate faster than some of us might change our underwear, Art's been releasing updates for his XMB "make-over" tool one right after the other. This time around, X-Flash is now flapping its features to v18j. It seems that, for the past couple of updates, Art has been focusing more on tweaking firmware support for his homebrew.

Not that we're complaining. For a developer to make his application more compatible with PSPs far and wide is quite natural - and ultimately the subject of praise from the entire community. Especially with Dark_Alex's release of 3.03 OE-B yesterday, Art's still up to the task, and has gone changing his underwear updating his homebrew once again. For today's version update, here's what's new:
  • Added intentional support for Dark_AleX 3.03 OE-B. (it's safe to use the version spoofer now).
  • Preserved support for Dark_AleX 3.03 OE-A2.
  • Button combination writes current PSP Nickname to use as a custom version spoof.
Ah, the nuances of multi-firmware support. Gotta love it. For those who are new to this and wish to get into the whole "pimp my XMB with icons and whatnot" bandwagon: make sure you check the readme included in the archive and follow the instructions to the dot. This application writes on to Flash and can potentially brick your system if used incorrectly.

Thanks, Chris B., for the tip!

awesome

this is an awesome app - nice one art is it possible to make more room for the gameboot?? what if put in options to take out network update(already in), foreign languages, certificate util, and anything else that wouldn't affect the basic operation of the psp or internet/wifi

PLEASE, SOMEONE HELP ME...

i updated from 3.03 OE-A to OE-A' the other day and now all i can use is Recovery Mode, nothing else works... PLEASE, someone give me DETAILED, step by step instructions on how to fix this problem. I have read some posts/articles on the same subject, with people saying that if the Recovery Menu can be used, then it can be fixed again. I have tried a few times already following other instructions, but all were telling different ways to do it... Plz, someone reply with the correct way to unbrick a semi-bricked psp?

top_menu.rco

hmmm.... couldnt find a way to flash it/ so i went to that new psp system info screen and pressed all the buttons, lol, then sed flashing top_menu.rco now i have shiny newe gold xmb icons, but one problem is i have a random extra network update icon under game now... although it does nothing its annoying and also anyone know whether evry icon in xmb can be changed.... or is it just the actual "top" menu? thanks
by - 2007-01-12 12:07:34
,

I think there are some issues with the top_menu.rco that replace some of the sub-icons with others (camera has USB connection etc). As for the proper sub-menu icons, AFAIK thi shas been done but through rigorous hex editting and as of yet there is no public tool we can use to do it ourselves.
