VSH Rebooter PRX v0.2 with installer |
Ó
MaTiAz either has a lot of time in his hands or he sure is one fast coder. After releasing VSH Rebooter PRX v0.1 just two days ago, he's back with a bumped up version of his homebrew app, a plug-in for PRX devs. The updates for this version may not be a lot but they're stiill definitely helpful, especially now that v0.2 comes with an installer (he added this because a lot of you guys were asking how-to's). So anyhoo, whaddya say we get this show on the road and bring you the all-important...
Changelog:
- Included an easy installer, which can install the PRX to Network Update or Location Free TV (or both if you like). Read the notes about the installer though.
- The Reboot PRX can now shut down the PSP too, hold L while selecting Network Update -> shutdown
- Copy the rbprxinst folder to /psp/game/ like you would with any other homebrew (GAME, not GAME150 or GAME302)
- Launch the Reboot PRX Installer
- If you don't know what to do after these steps, you should NOT be using this or trying to install this.
this program comes with NO WARRANTY AT ALL, so follow the instructions so you're safe. I'm not responsible for bricks, and I doubt there will be any, except for because of user stupidity (which I doubt will happen either).
Well, there ya have it. But before you go fiddling around your PSPs, know that the readme file was put there for a reason so go use it, okay? MaTiAz would like to give a shout out to "TUW, Mathieulh, kando, harleyg, Coldbird, Dark_AleX and lots of other people I've forgotten at lan.st and other places".

F1R57 P057!!!
it would be better if it was just for shutting down and the hold L was reboot
My vote is that DA places this NATIVELY in the next OE-C version of 3.03 he releases. Right now there are 2 useless icons on the user interface. Network update and Location Free TV. It would be good if he's either replace them with this or just get rid of them altogether so that they are not listed. I never understood why he removed the PRXs for Location Free (yeah, it was to free up space in F0), but leave the choice there in the menus. Get rid of it... MAKE IT CLEAN!!!
are we not supposed to run i through the xmb to install? because running programs from PSP/GAME just doesn't work. you'll just end up getting the error code: 88820148 going by that..i'm assuming this prx is just for 1.50?
and TY MaTiAz
It's not very easy to just remove an icon from the XMB. It's easy to make that icon do nothing or replace the PRX to make it do what you want though.
its meant to be put in the GAME150 folder ma dude. it works on any firmware
It is not imediately obvious that a replacement icon file is not actually included in the pack - you can semi-brick your PSP. But it is recoverable using the R button on startup (thank f*ck! Or I'd be very annoyed) Feel free to flame now RTFM - but I think it's important.
Ah, thanks very much for pointing that out. I will make that clear in the next release :)
i downloaded the installer and then it start writing to flash for all of the icons like network update or location free player , after it was done then it shut off my psp , i turned back on it only load but it doesnt show any icons at all , infact nothng appeared on the psp except the battery info and it wasnt very clear. i can still go to the recovery mode, please help me if u know how to fix it
this bricked me i followed all the instructions
ok guys this doesnt work in the GAME folder, so tread carefully... i tried to run it and only managed in the GAME150, however the files werent found and it mucked me up...
i had to put 302customizer back in recovery folder to save going back to 1.50 again...
302 customizer sorted me out and im back on my psp again!
TREAD CAREFULLY AND ONLY DO IT IF YOU ARE SURE
Is there any way to translate menu? Like Network Update -> Reboot PSP.
I hope you still have your own personal DATA.DXAR still backed up somewhere! If so, copy it to the recovery folder, along with the eboot from the 303oeflasher (from the original 303oea install). Then run this eboot from the recovery menu. I did exactly the same thing (see post above!) If you don't have your data.daxr file then you'll need to do a bit more work and get the recovery files and downgrade again (the recovery files are in the 302OE download (not in 303 for some reason), and you'll need the 1.5 (or whatever) update file. I hope this helps.
Hi MaTiAz - how did you go about changing your "Network Update" to "Reboot PSP", as shown in your screenshot? I can't find anything obvious that I can change in a hex editor.
agreed
MaTiAz specifically said don't use the GAME150 folder. If it doesn't run from GAME folder, then you need to change the setting in DAX's recovery mode. Configuration -> Game folder homebrew. Then change it back after you've installed it sucessfully.
Yo I can't find the Text in the .RCO file from 3.03.
I don't want to use the one from 2.5 because it misses a lot of icons. From the original 3.03 fw.....
Please add a warning to the article, as several people has semi-bricked their PSP's with this tool.
u noobs it doesnt brick ur psp if u FOLLOW instructions
btw it goes in the game folder with 1.50 kernel
i have fw3.03 oe b , they dont have a customizer for that one , what else can i do
where is the recovery folder (meo), and i have another psp with fw3.02 oe a /can i create a data.dxar and use it for mine ( keep in mind that i have 3.03 oe b )
Do not use someone else's DATA.DXAR file - it'll brick your PSP!!! If you haven't kept your own, then you'll need to use the recovery files from the download package of 302OE, and place with a 1.5 firmware update in the GAME\RECOVERY folder. Google this for more info.
Well, i got my first brick with this app. Lucky we got the recovery mode! Nice to see that the recovery mode works! LOL
It could be done while the data.* file is created. If there's anyone out there that can make it happen it's DA. That part of the xmb can be stripped out. I have a feeling he just didn't want to bother with it.
DA's custom firmware's are absoutely AWESOME, but they do need just the most minor of a polish they can get. That's all that is missing in my opinion.
Problem is most of these advanced devs think/realize that there's a lot of other homebrew out there that can do this sort of simple stuff so they don't bother to mix it into their own work to PERFECT it... and in the end their work is very good, but it could be PERFECT if they just took a little more time on the polishing up bit.
Download 3.02 OE customizer from here:
http://dl.qj.net/FW3.02-OE-Customizer-v1.0-PSP-Homebrew-Applications/pg/12/fid/11869/catid/190
-Change the name of its folder to BOOT or RECOVERY.
-Get into recovery mode on your PSP turn on the usb.
-Place the folder with the 3.02 OE customizer into the game folder.
-If you named the folder "BOOT" go into configurations and enable autoboot of eboot.pbp.
-Exit out of RECOVERY mode.
-Use the program to copy the original topmenu_plugin.rco back to your psp.
This works on 3.02 and 3.03 because the file is the same.
Comment abuse for better visibility.
I semi-bricked my psp 2 times before I figured this out. Here are the instructions that worked for me.
1. Go to recovery menu and set Game folder homebrew to 1.50 kernel in the configuration if you have 3.02/3.03 OE.
2. Put rbprxinst in /PSP/Game
3. Run rbprxinst and backup both topmenu_plugin.rco and update_plugin.prx. DONT FLASH YET.
4. Copy topmenu_plugin.rco from \PSP\GAME\rbprx inst\original to \PSP\GAME\rbprx inst\ (up one folder).
5. Use some hex editor on topmenu_plugin.rco to change the name Network Update to something like "Reboot" if you really care about having the correct name.
6. Run rbprxinst again and choose the options to flash both update_plugin.prx and topmenu_plugin.rco
If you semi-bricked your psp, as posted below, you can use your backed up DATA.DXAR or download the generic psp brick fixer from here http://www.klmsoftware.net/?p+55
DEVS: If you are *****ing with something as expensive as our PSPs make sure to include DETAILED instructions with proper grammer. I can't tell you how many times I have downloaded a program for my psp and had the readme be very hard to understand because of either huge grammatical errors (likely because English was not the dev's first language), or simply incomplete instructions. Don't assume that we know what the ***** we are doing. Most of the time people are still learning stuff about what goes on inside the psp, and have no idea what is going on.
/end rant
So the comment system removed my backslashes (I was lazy and copied from windows explorer)
In my previous comment, step 4 should be "Copy topmenu_plugin.rco from PSP/GAME/rbprxinst/original to PSP/GAME/rbprxinst"
I flashed my PSP with a DATA.DXAR file for 3.03 OE-A FROM A FRIEND. It wasn't a DATA.DXAR file that MY PSP created. I used someone else's, and no brick here, PSP works great. So shut your mouth and get your facts straight, I even had my PSP clocked to 333mhz when I updated to 3.03 OE-A. It blazed on through it like hell.
Well, that's kind of obvious.
ya i bricked mine too and already unbricked and figured this out but i was afraid to try it right away
thanks
or you can put it in the GAME150 folder and the GAME folder but in the GAME folder delete the eboot (so you dont accidently load the wrong one) and then after youve backed up both the update_plugin.prx and the topmenu_plugin.rco (before you flash anything) move both the backed up files to the GAME/rbprxinst folder then run it again and flash it
agreed
packaged instructions were flawed.
can understand they didnt wanna distribute sony copyright *****. but how bout a simple file check to prevent a semi-brick?
thats what a REAL developer would do (yes. thankyou for decent homebrew dark_alex - recovery mode is a godsent against bad programmers)
this homebrew doesnt need the flaming it recieves.
its a nice tool, but providing incorrect instructions when flashing to nand, well, that will be the developers own demise. matiaz.. never again. sorted!
this will be alot easier if tha author hex edited it to Reboot mah PSP or somethin instead of us doing it...less likely to brick this wayy
Was lazy to reply before...now thw self destruct buttom can turn off psp...lol
save urself the drama of flashing on 3.02-OE/3.03-OE
and use this plugin instead. and yes, its customizable!

enjoy. (no chance of semi-brick!)
I semi-bricked using this, but only took me a few sec to fix the problem. The app looks for all of its files under the GAME folder, NOT GAME150! Therefore, when you try to flash any of the files from GAME150, it finds nothing and deletes the file it is supposed to flash over. Simply make sure your folders are set up right, and you should be fine.
Can I start the VSH-Rebooter-PRX-v0-2 through the recovery mode and change something and use it again to fix my PSP
Thanks to you ChaseWR your instrucktion helped me a LOT
