Virtual Tape Recorder

Art, from our forums, has once again updated his Virtual Tape Recorder program for the PSP today to v2d. This program, in case you haven't been reading our previous coverage, is based on and uses Iteixeira's audio library to record input from a PSP-compatible microphone to create an audio file. To use this program, you need a microphone for your PSP which doesn't use the USB connection to connect to the PSP or Art's Nokia headset boom modification as a DIY alternative. Here's the changelog for v2d:
  • Fixed Rewind to work at correct speed during playback.
  • Reel is now a Microsoft compliant wav file.
Art plans to further develop this program, adding a better looking GUI, the ability to play sound files at normal speed in reverse, and to extend recording time. At the moment you can record up to four minutes which takes up a 20Mb file. Indeed, Art is branching out and tackling different apps.

Its official. we have retarded people.

I must say..the "first post" guys are becoming such a pain in the ass...damm...why do you guys insist in such goal? whats the point? you must be very very n00bs to do such thing.. Anyway... This homebrew is nice and has a lot of potencial! And it as been developed by a portuguese, and thats cool, cus i am portuguese also.. Here's a message to Iteixeira: "Boas!Estás a fazer um excelente trabalho com esta aplicação. É de facto muito útil e no futuro ainda poderá vir a ser mais...continuação de bom trabalho e com todo o apoio da comunidade tuga da PSP. Fica bem, um abraço".

Woot!

Man, this app is great. I know it'd be super complicated, perhaps impossible??? but a multitrack version would be soooooo sweet. Nice work M8.

Suggestion

From what I understand right now, you have to do some weird modifications to get a microphone working with the PSP. Right? Why not make the program reverse the headphones or PSP speakers to record. I know this can be done. Or does it already work that way?

is it possible to use the headphone jack as a line in port? that would be really cool (musical instrument direct recording) im pretty sure its possible as a friend of mine worked on doing it for ipl for a little while but someone beat him to finishing it but then again the ipod is a different device

stereo line in?

I want to use this program with binaural microphones and to sample from records, the radio, etc. This would probably have to be done through the usb port since the headphone set is mono only (4 bands are: left audio, right audio, power, and record, I think)

A very serious question

This helps me with practicing my beat boxing skills. Thanks ART!!! YOU TEH GREATEST. In your next version or some version down the road, would it be possible to make the original track loop and then record over it(while the loop keeps going)? Also, can I use IRShell to play music while using this to beat box with??? I'm scared to try. BIG UPS FO ART!! YO YO!
