VideoPSpy: hidiing your videos inside your PSP |
Ó
It seems dark420bishop has decided to make an application no one's managed to create just yet, and the discussion for it is getting pretty hot, what with all the insinuations of porn and all. The app, called VideoPSpy, allows users to keep private videos on their PSP without arousing suspicion.
Here's what dark420bishop explained about his new application:
The program will appear as a calculator application with the name "BASIC Calculator" in your XMB. The calculator program is functional, it's code is copied (with permission) from the calculator code included in Shine's Lua Player 0.20 with a few minor alterations. The only way to see your private videos is to enter the correct code sequence into the calculator. The program swaps your 100MNV02 directory with the regular 100MNV01 directory, replacing your regular videos with the private videos. Running the program again reverses the process, restoring your regular videos and hiding your private videos.
VideoPSpy has some interesting uses. For one thing, it keeps people from accessing your own stash of videos. A quick set of button presses can also let you hide your videos while letting you access something educational (if you have the Good News Bible, for example) to keep teachers off guard about what you're doing. More importantly, no one will ever find out your addiction to Taylor Hicks and American Idol, you cad, you. Enjoy the application, and don't forget to check the readme for installation instructions.

"It seems dark420bishop has decided to make an application no one's managed to create just yet....."
What about HideMOV by PJ1115? True, it doesn't swap video folders, but it still hids movies, music, and pictures.
This is a great app. I'd love to see it non-lua and intigrated into the XMB with a prx or something.
But it won't work for those who have friends/family that frequent QJ and already know about it.
There was a double "http://" in the link, which kinda screwed up the direction the link was leading towards. It should be fixed now.
this program will be awesome for all those jr. high / high school dorks who want to look at porn in school and not get caught. get a life!
the link is up again
simply install IrShell, setup login pass and rename any folder. no one can rename it without another file managing tool.
or
rar your *.jpg(if pictures) files with pass and unrar every time you want to watch. works fine even with experienced users.
If you take the time to read the forum post, I explain why I think this is better than the prx that hides your entire video folder.
doesnt work on 3.03OE
GENIAL! it work perfectly on 3.03oc!
now i can hide my porn, saweeeeeeeeeeee t!
This is pretty cool I guess, but I would prefer a PRX... Why not make a VSH prx that automatically hides videos on startup of PSP and when you press the right button combination (configurable to user's liking) the videos will become unhidden. I would like to hide certain photos, music, videos, and games when neccessary and it would be awesome if I could hide everything with a simple button combination, and unhide them by pressing the same combo. This sounds like it uses the MP_ROOT folder, but I like using the VIDEO folder... maybe your next release could work for the VIDEO folder? You could have a configuration file so we can just type in the name for the folders we want hidden. For example... say I have a folder called "Songs" in my "Music" folder and a folder called "Porn" in my "Video" folder that I want hidden with the press of a few buttons. I can type into the configuration file all of the directories I want hidden... I would just type /PSP/Music/Songs on one line and on the next like /Video/Porn and those folders would be hidden when I press the right buttons and unhidden when I press the combo. I hope you make this into a PRX and allow us to hide music and photos and games, too.
cuz apparently there is no version number.
there already is a prx that hides your videos. maybe you should check it out. the problem with that is (1) you can't selectively unhide your private videos, it unhides them all at once. (2) it looks suspicious when you can't get into the video menu.
Works!Wohoo!3.03oe-c.Propz this.
WOOT WOOT PR0N!!!
where can i see the video cant find them
I ain't got no porn videos, just pics. I download them in folders that the XMB Photo viewer doesn't read and use IR Shell to view them. You didn't read that from me, though.
ever notice that QJ always has alot of dead links?
It doesn't seem to work. when I load it up, it can't bootup the calculator. I see 2 files on the psp, lua player, and basic calculator, and im usig 1.5 firmware. Whats wrong?
tHERE WAS vIDhID OR WHATEVER IT WAS CALLED. tHIS IS A DIFFERENT APPROCH THOUGH, AND A VERY INTERESTING ONE AT THAT. i LIEK THE IDEA
(pls excuse the damn caps lock, im too lazy to rewrite that)
itll work as long as u dont leave any unsightly sticky residues on the screen
yes i did
I found the problem and fixed it, here are links to the fixed program.

Thanks for the feedback, anonymous mr.noob. :)
i added videos in the 100MV02 folder and then enabled the calculator too see my pron but cant find it on my psp :S
My psp only read the VIDEO folder :S
All of the same restrictions apply when using the 100MNV02 as when using the 100MNV01 folder. The files have to be in the correct video format and named correctly. (The VIDEO folder is much more forgiving.) Refer to your PSP manual for more information.
The program has been updated to support photos and all video directories.
