*UPDATE* XMBE v1 (Cross Media Bar Extension), version 1.1 |
Ó
PSP homebrew developer Auraomega is better known for projects like PSPLock and Roadblocks, but it seems that the dev works on another project as a break from the main ones. The homebrew dev has decided to release another project called XMBE, just in case anyone else wants to use it.
XMBE, or Cross Media Bar Extension, is currently on version 1 and is basically aimed for XMB customization through external plugins (In English, that means it allows users to make changes on the XMB, the clock and date display for example). Auraomega admits that the current release is still a bit bare since not much time has been spent on it. Anyway, the current release has these features (taken from Auraomega's post in the forums):
- New clock, with the time in hour:minute:second:micros econd:AM/PM.
- Full length date, currently this is in the English format, I may convert to USA format for the next version.
- Remaining battery life
- Glow or Flash effect on the lettering
Anyway, check out XMBE version 1 below. Please go through the readme file - it is quite informative as it does list the known bugs and installation instructions, among other things.

*UPDATE* Homebrew dev Auraomega came by our forums to update XMBE to version 1.1. A few changes were made to clear up some issues, including enabling text by pressing the left shoulder button (there is no text at boot up anymore). It can be enabled again by pressing the right shoulder button.
Here's a snippet from XMBE version 1.1's readme file: "You now need ms0:/seplugins/XMB.txt. Inside this file you should type the full path to extra plugins. Up to 5 plugins can be loaded at a time, see the XMB.txt file for an example."
Auraomega noted that a small config file will be included in the next update just so users can make little changes, like the date format. Check out the new release by clicking the link below, don't forget to go through the readme file first, though.
