PSP Software Switch for Modded PSPs - Image 1Here's the thing: LAN.ST forum member ooblik was tinkering with his PlayStation Portable (PSP) one day and noticed that whenever he goes to camera options, the power goes out through the two little slots on either side of the handheld's USB-mini port.

He's now wondering if plugin could be written for custom firmwares that will allow to turn on and turn off the power if a certain button combination is pressed. This, you see, will be helpful because it will allow LED mods for the PSP to turn on and off without having to deal with the Wi-Fi switch.

QJ.Net Forum member califrag was good enough to entertain the thought, and he ended up creating the plugin. This became the homebrew creation known as "PSP Software Switch for Modded PSPs".

According to califrag, the preferred method to use this plugin is to flash it into "flash0:vshnodule" and then launch it from the "certificate utility" icon. In case you don't want to run it from there, what you can do is rename the file to the following before flashing:
  • update_plugin.prx - replace network update
  • premo_plugin.prx - replace remote play
  • lftv_plugin.prx - replace location free player
As always, do not use this program if you are not well-versed with flashing anything to your PSP. califrag suggests creating backups for all files before replacing them, and make sure that you have a good USB connection to prevent disk or file corruption.

Ja, please remove your link.

Ja please remove the link to the youtube video you posted and delete the video from YouTube. I was never contacted or asked if it was OK to post that video which is technically "my property". In the future please keep in mind that though shared publically, videos and other media content still has intellectual property rights and those rights should be respected. Please contact me via private message through the qj forums if you have any questions or would like to post my video somewhere else. I have posted this video on my own under acidmods youtube account and would like all traffic directed towards that link instead. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-EtCIx-Mhu4 Thank you. caliFrag

Cool

Nice. Install this even if you won't use it, if your power switch breaks (as they are known to do) then you have a way of still using it.

Voltage

I measured the voltage, its ~3.3V. Enough to light blue led, tough the superbright blue led needs 3.6V to light but it works from here.
