UMD Identifier v0.1 |
Listed in: Homebrew Applications Tags: psp homebrews
Ó

Harleyg has released a new program for the PSP, a first of its kind if I'm not mistaken, titled UMD Identifier v0.1. This application can identify your UMD by the code on the disc. The developer has crammed around 250 codes/games with different region info into this. When you run the application, the UMD code and the name will be displayed, along with the background image of the game displayed (pic1.png).
According
to the developer, this UMD Identifier has only been tested on a 1.50
firmware. If ever the game name doesn't show up when this is used,
harleyg advises the user to copy the game ID, game name and region to
the "umd code" thread on PSPUpdates, UMDDB anyone?
Thanks for the heads up cooldocy795!

Perhaps loading a UMD into a new environment will allow for more accessiblity to such patches/mods.

But I think it has a use now tbh. A UMDDB. Nothing grand and dramatic, but I'd say essential for the PSP community.

Typing loads and loads of information into that crap the programmer who did this must be a complete idiot.
Ok, I agree with N°3. BUT what we need is a universal loader like umdemulator was in the beginning. Not what we have now. Up to 12 methods of running an ISO...
You won't get a universal loader with this app because nobody would want to imply every single patch into that (or a bigger) program. WHAT A WASTE OF TIME!

Learn to code yourself... or STFU... n00b!
Owned.

If you think the scene needs a universal loader so badly then why are you not working on it yourself.
Are you aware that a universal loader/downgrader will cause sony to further lock out homebrew with a quickly bodged new firmware with a .1 after it.
It's about time that people gave up on the downgrader/ISO loading scene. Buy your friggin games. Tightass.

this program just honestly looks stupid. i see no use of it and im not gonna download it . im not a programmer and could care less about 2.7 because i will never upgrade to it. from that description by the author... IT DOES THE SAME THING AS HOVERING OVER THE UMD ICON....

Just because a particuar device wont be useful to you it could easily be useful to someone. First consider the audiance of the program, then see if you are in that category.

Pressing the ***** out of my back is SOMETHING TOO!
Chris, Vincent and Mr. LOL are absolutely right.
BTW: You don't have to be a coder to know this is a piece of crap.

What to think of identifying a UMD if you buy it from someone else (meet via Ebay for example) who wants to sell it. Then you know for sure you got the right UMD in front of you instead of e.g. the spiderman free UMD but with the print on it of some other game! ;) Great app! Keep it up!

Explain to me, what has this got todo with isos or umdemulator? You think as soon as the word UMD is said its OH ISOS!
Jesus, if you do not have anything constructive to say, dont.
"look at its functions based on the description! someone whos downloaded it please tell me how good it is?" you criticize and you havnt even tried it? Oh, and dont, im guessing you cant even get around what this is supposed todo with your inferior mind.
Same post in v0.1 comments:
Are you guys complete morons?
Lets look at this using our brains shall we? The ONLY way you can identify your UMD is via PIC1.PNG, apart from that there is no way. This reads the code unique to the game in UMD_DATA.BIN.
I admit, the application itself is useless, the real use for this is for other developers to use the umds.txt (which contains 688 not 250, stupid lazy PSPU writers) inside there own program or shell.
The thing with you people is that it doesnt have a sexy menu, a neat background or doesnt contain something to run my illegal isos. Oh, and while im on menus: This ´thing is useless ***** , he should rather work on a pretty N64 emulator menu...
Excuse me? N64 menu? your ignorance amuses me.
Ill say this ONCE and ONCE only, if you think this is a waste, your a moron. If you dont know what it is, your a moron.

I can definitely see a use for this. As the scene progresses so do the game companies, as is evident with the re-release of GTA-LCS. They made a version of their software that breaks the e-loader.
Now wouldn't it be nice to be able to put that used version of GTA-LCS your poor friend w/ 2.xx is about to spend his hard earned money on to check if the disk is the newer version or the older version.
If you think you have something smart to say, think again. The nay sayers are showing their ignorance. So if you don't have anything constructive to add, please, STFU&GH.
