TVSP Released. Watch TV on your PSP! |
Listed in: Homebrew Applications, News, Wi-Fi Tags: psp homebrews
Ó

Well, the good news just keep on flowing in. After the first playable N64 Emulator, we now have our very own homebrew Location Free Player! Yes, you don't have to buy an expensive $350 Location Free Base Player to watch TV on your PSP. This homebrew program does it for free!
Written by Lok Tai Fung, this program can receive wi-fi signals from DScaler, using a TV Capture/Tuner on your PC. Yep, all of it is free, apart from the TV Capture card of-course! Here's an excerpt from the readme:
"How did I come up with TVSP? Hmmm, it was one day in my bathroom to take a load off :-) When all of a sudden, omg, I have forgotten to bring anything in to entertain myself. Not a Maxim magazine in sight. Delerium sets in. What have I done??? While being quite bored, I had an epiphany. Hey, wouldn't it be cool if I can watch TV in the can. The rest is history."

Features:
- Watch TV anywhere with a wifi connection.
- Allows channel changes.
- No sound yet. It'll be added in the next version
Update: The .ini file wasn't uploaded in the previous download. Re-download it if you can't figure out how to input your IP address.

got a nebula digitv here, and dscaler only sees the composite video in. Dscaler was made for analogue tv really, so nope no support for dvb. (that i know of).
btw using 2.01 here too
Reply
kinda like running a second monitor in a window (in dscaler), was hopeing to be able to then run dvb-t app on "second monitor".
unfortunatly windows doesnt enjoy having more then one overlay.... but mediaplayer works alright on second monitor..
now if only i could get tvsp to work.. :)

Are there any plans to use the PSP together with the 'VIDEO DISK RECORDER' (VDR) by Klaus Schmidinger.
There are many possible useful functions in my mind that the PSP can provide..
1. Infrared Remote for the VDR
2. Programming of Recordings through graphical EPG
3. Streaming live TV or recordings via WLAN (mplayer)
4. ...
what is VDR: http://www.linuxtv.org/vdrwiki/index.php/Main_Page

here is how i got it working, finally,
i couldnt get it to even detect my wifi when i only had one network connection in my presets, so just made a second dumby one with the "network settings" option in the default psp os.
that got me passed the init WIFI line... when running tvsp.
then make sure as #37 said that you only have your ip address in the ini file.
thats how i got mine to work, hope that helps...

Anyway, here's some clarifications to help you guys.
1) For the INI file, make sure the IP is on the first line. The program reads the first line from tvsp.ini file and connects to this ip.
2) Your DScaler server computer can be over the internet or just in the same network. If your psp is in the same network, then you DO NOT have to configure your router to forward port 8888. Forward port 8888 only if you wanted to connect from work or somewhere over the internet.
3) It uses the first connection profile (or second, I don't remember). Just make sure the first two profiles can access your router correctly.
4) DScaler is a Win32 only program. I will use VLC in the future since it makes more sense (i.e. more tv card compat, etc). However it was much quicker doing this with DScaler since I have it already on my computer.
Tips:
I had a thought. You can use it like a security system if you have a video camera attached to DScaler's input. Anyways, enjoy.

I'm hoping your VLC version will work for me. Hopefully I'll also be able to use my DVB-T box this way.

My set-up...
PSP 2.60 (it does work!!)
MSI TV@nywhere Master (this is not a BT card it's a CX one)
Belkin ADSL modem wireless router
It works great. Just been watching Eastenders (Pah!)

My setup:
- FW 2.6
- eloader 0.97
- static IP connecting through wifi access point
- Pinnacle PCTV Rave PCI card with official 5.50 drivers
Exits perfectly back to eloader when you press 'start' ;)
Not tested with any other setups but this worked straight out the box for me.
Thankyou Lok, can't wait for sound to be added, in my haste to try this I didn't read the post properly and have been trying to get sound working for the last hour or so! lol
Keep up the good work!

#97: Only if it's fed into DScaler. You can hook up a DVD Player, Game system, Video Camera, anything you want as long as it's fed into the TV Card.

I have fw2.6 and an ATi All-in-wonder - set everything up as instucted got the ini file and everything.
My PSP says its connected (it gets IP and everything) but one of two things happens....
1 - Both PSP and Dscaler crash
2 - PSP says connection failed aftertrying to connect to a the socket (it was something along htose lines anyway)
The only thing i can think of that may be different is the pixelwidth thing because my ATI all-in-wonder doesnt use a BT chipset - the nearest thing to pixelwidth i could find was "Resolution" which i changed to 320 x 240.
Anyone else had any luck with an ATI 9800Pro All-in-Wonder?

Connecting to socket
Connection failed..
this is wat i get when i tried to do so.. In DScaler it said 'call to bind() returned 10048' ? error in dll?

Great Idea. A HTPC remote control with fullscreen GUI.
People that do not know what a capture card is.. Just ignore this topic. There isn't a chance in hell of you getting it working.

#107, i too cannot find the pixel width option, but in the deinterlace menu, there should be 2 columns. in the right one it is around the middle and says "evn scan lines only"

I also look forward to VLC support due to other capture hardware I own and the general goodness of VLC.

My TV Tuner is Mpeg2 encoder type (MCE compatible) and Dscaler doesn't support such cards. (Dscaler is extremely outdated btw).
Please we need a VLC version!

Just delete and readd your Conection but leave it with the default name: Connection 1...I think. It will work!
Also, It has to be the first in the chain, the program will go to the first on the list.
Lastly it works on 2.5 with GTA.
Good luck everyone.
