TOTALNewbi easyInstaller for Pandora - Image 1

Homebrew developer Xi-Bit brought forth another version of Pandora easy installer, this time one that runs via batch type procedures entirely through the command shell. Called TOTALNewbi easyInstaller, the project was a collaboration job between Xi-Bit and a pal of the developer. The wizard-like installer comes at a hefty 135 MB+ download, but serves as a great addition to your easy installer software options.

TOTALNewbi comes packed with install options, too, so it sort of justifies the longer download wait. It offers a four-way installer choice for installing Pandora on the original Sony PlayStation Portable, HellCat's Extended Menu, 3.60 baseline firmware for the PSP Slim & Lite, and M33's (Dark AleX) 3.71 custom firmware with the Universal Unbricker.

The archive doesn't come bundled with even a basic readme, but given the care put into the step-by-step procedure, we doubt you could go wrong with the application - unless you decide to do anything else than what the program specifies. As usual, the original PSP battery is required for the Pandora side, and the file best for executing once the archive has extracted is the START app.

Thanks again to Xi-Bit for his constant tipping.

» Not noob friendly

This is really not noob friendly it has loads of files i think noobs will find starting this up!

by xi-bit - 2007-10-03 06:56
» LOL

Do you really think that they are so much noob that they don't know that they should start the file called "START.exe"

They do not have to run any of the other files.

But we are working on an upgrade that fixes that problem! - if it even exists?

» Really a Unbricker and Downgrader?

Hey,

Just created a MS with this tool (Pandora Battery also created). Yes, I'm a NOOB but the tool was clear for me.

Ok, what now? On my own psp (3.71M33-2) it's working fine. Added the MS and battery and choosen for Option 4 and my PSP running now 3.71M33...So indeed working.

But work's this also on a new non downgraded PSP Fat and PSP slim?

by xi-bit - 2007-10-03 18:09

» problem

Do you need to start this with a PSP Fat

and then switch to the PSP Slim?

Using this app on the PSP Slim

I get through with the format process and

it asks me to eject the MS and then USB,

reinsert MS and USB and then it wants to

format again. After doing so I get this

message.

PSP MS IPL Installer

Load IPL code f:msipl.bin

Can't open f:msipl.bin

Press any key to continue . . .

From here the dos window just shuts down

and my MS left blank needing to be formated.

Whats up with this app?

No details as how to use it and I started by

using the START.exe. so it's not as if I was

a serious noob about it.

Plus the new version at

http://www.megaupload.com/?d+M172XSWM

is no longer at that address so you'll need to

create a new upload.

» having a few problems, wonder if someone could help

I seem to be having some problems, I am trying to use option 4:

Universal Unbricker (Universal Unbricker for FAT and SLIM) It's also an 3.71 M33 CFW installer!

Everything seems to extract fine but just after that I reach this screen:

PSP MS IPL Installer

Load IPL code l:/msipl.bin

241664 bytes(59 block) readed

Target DRIVE is 3

Check partation Sector

Check BPB Sector

Check free reserved sector:OK

Where I hit Y and receive:

Followed by the usual page when it doesn't seem to work:

This easy installer was mabe by HC and Xi-Bit

All files completed by Xi-Bit

Icon made by CraQkeY

Rest made by Noobz Team, Team C+D, Dark_AleX og HellCat!

Thanks to every one!

Press any key to continue . . .

Does anyone know what I am doing wrong, I am somewhat of a noob to PSPs, this is why I have provided all the info above.

Note. I have a new PSP Slim running Firmware 3.60 - only ran it for a few days before trying to downgrade/unbrick it. No other updates installed.

Cheers in advance.

» msipl.bin

Connect in USB mode. Look in the root of your memory stick (where you have the PSP folder and the UPDATE.PBP file). There should be a file named "msipl.bin".

Copy "msipl.bin" into the folder called "msinst" that was extracted from the ZIP file.

In the Command Prompt, switch into the "msinst" folder... wherever you put it.

Type "msinst X msipl.bin" where X is the drive of your PSP. Do not include the colon. For example, my PSP is connected at O:, so I type "msinst O msipl.bin".
