If Deniska's Map This! is a piece of artwork, it is a darn good conversation piece. One of the most talked about application for the PSP thus far, it has never failed to spark the interest of readers, considering the amount of comments and jumps it has received every time it gets featured here at QJ.
Just so we're on the right course (excuse the pun), a little refresher. Map This! can turn your PSP into a map viewer, easy as pie. The latest version contains the following changes.
- Compass bug fix
- CPU clock speed toggle between 222 & 333Mhz
- Battery life display
- Improved POI support (displays up to 400 closest POI on screen / works in "track up" mode too now)
- Basic waypoint support
- New configuration paramaters (READTIME, WARNINGDISTANCE, etc)
- People with slow baud GPS devices should try to adjust NMEA read timing (READTIME >1)
- Some graphics tweaks and new sample map.
Check out this video to see the application in action as it highlights the route feature.

The zip (or rar) file that you will download comes with an html version and an eboot version for the PSP.
It also comes with a program that downloads the maps for you.
You don't have to doanything really...

The GPS receiver for this costs about $60 if you shop around Ebay a bit... If you can't aford that, maybe you shouldn't be spending money on things like PSPs... Now, if you don't have soldering skills, that I can understand, you do have to actually _build_ something. But, yes, the GPS is available NOW.
I haven't heard what Sony's GPS will cost, but it sure isn't going to be free... And I doubt it will work with satellite imagery like this does... That's REALLY cool...
As for space, I downloaded a usable map for _ALL_ of Los Angeles (roughly 50 Sq miles) and it only takes about 48 meg. (It's not down to the lowest zoom, but it zooms in enough to read all the street names, what more do you want?) Take the Paris Hilton album off your memory stick, now you have plenty of room for wherever you live...
The only bad thing about this is that you have to download the maps for anywhere you are going to go, but most people don't travel too far without advance notice, just download the areas you are going to...
Downloading, BTW, only takes a few minutes and is easy to do with in7ane's tool...
And if you want me to see a comment you might make to this, you have to register. I'm smart enough to turn off the 'Unregistered' comments by default since, as can be seen here, 99.9% of all the unregistered comments are just idiot n00bs...

A GPS off would be useful.
my POI of over 1000 crashes the PSP
the 2kb files are too small for larger mem cards (my 1gb card uses over 8kb per file due to FAT)
Finding a POI is a pain if you don't already know where it is. Possible find function would be cool.
I haven't checked if this is or isn't possible, but zipping portions of the map would help with the sizing issue and keep the speed up as you'd only unzip one or two small zips.
