tgaWave Custom Wave Texture Injector v0.3 |
Ó
Want to pimp your PSP without hassle? One of the few good places to start is with your unit's cross-media bar. The homebrew scene was recently bombarded by a lot of custom XMB waves, so this should be easy. (One homebrew coder even came out with a flasher application to preview these custom xmb waves first before actually trying them out.) This app that's just been released adds to the long list. However, coder Vulpix's tgaWave Custom Wave Texture Injector v0.3 is somewhat different as it doesn't require hex-editing.
All you need is an image editing program such as Photoshop and you can already edit your wave's texture by applying filters to whatever image. Vulpix was good enough to provide all readers with a step-by-step process on how to use this application:
- Open system_plugin_bg_deflate_part2.tga in your favorite image editing program (Photoshop/GIMP/etc).
- Change the wave texture as desired by using filters in Photoshop or whatever.
- Save the targa file with the same name as you opened it with.
- Run start.bat.
- Put system_plugin_bg.rco that was created in /vsh/resource/
- Done!

good app
Nice app
this is gonna be awesome cause I have Corel Paintshop pro, OhYEah!
Vulpix, Would I be able to add this to my Custom PSP theme pack? I put together all of the best psp programmes and themes in one pack. Your programme would be ideal!
doesnt work for me.. i changed the tga.. Saved in 24bit and 32bit (both compressed and uncompressed) but it doesnt work, the wave just isnt there... Using Paint.net
It should prove to be Useful
I think I done everything right, and I got no waves at all...
same here, can't get it to work, maybe cause it says it has to save it in 256 colors?
What firmwares are supported? Can use this to alter fw 3.10's labels? Where can I get a proper decrypted top_menu.rco for fw 3.10? Thanks
This is wrong. You *DO* need to hex edit the TGA. you need to replace all instances of FF with C2 and replace the last 18 bytes with 0B002800DCD5010028000000280000007073705F6C6F6F70. An ass to do, but beleive me, it looks BRILLIANT. Use the file i've linked to below compressed in a zip file. I've already modded it to work. Just extract the TGA from there and overwrite the one that comes with it. http://www.uploadtemple.com/view.php/1171398024.zip There's the URL. Enjoy.
semibricked xD f*** 45kb system_plugin_bg.rco I think it must be under 41kb... and the tga must be 256colors yes -.- damn gimp.. damn paint.net *system_plugin_bg.rco replaced* *love DAX, love DAX*
You might wanna fix what you said. Vulpix said that there was less hex editing involved, not no hex editing involved. Please read carefully before writing a topic, you just semi-bricked one of your reader's PSP units (DevilGun)
thanks.. i'll try your method :)
i open the file.. change it.. save it and edit the hex.. but its still not working o.ô
Download the file I posted above and try that. It worked for me. I've uploaded an RCO that uses the flame effect too. Don't worry, it's legal, and if it's not... then the program isn't either. Download it via the URL below. http://www.uploadtemple.com/view.php/1171401211.zip Flash that straight to your PSP. flash0:/vsh/resource/
i thought the point of this program is, to build my own wave.. not to flash yours ;)
anyone flashing with OE must be aware of the risks before he gets there, not only custom, but custom-customising....riskier than the norm. u gotta learn how to use recovery mode someday....why not when u make a f@ck up as he did, hehe, chillman its not his fault, there maybe a slight language barrier where EVER the author is from....and wherever the downloader is..... anyone downloadin of the WORLD Wide Web should account for this
if it works for one but not others,,,,are those who got it RIGHT just lucky? or does it work as its instructed??? lol, it works, use it right & check all filesizes & changes with instructions ;-)
When installing a pluggin my PSP brick and now it doesn´t go through the word sony . I know that there is a recovery menu and i have opened it already but i don´t know how to use it. I tryed some options but still don´t get it. Can someone help me? Please... @lex
This ***** is soo annoying.. Instructions suck too.. people are not born knowing this ***** already.. thats why people are asking and asking how to use it.. Bcause of the LACKS of instructions.
i open it up in photoshop and i can't do anything to it. What am I doing wrong?
Ok! i know it´s very boring to ear this again but i brick my PSP and i need some help. So, if anyone has instructions for the recovery mode please send to @lexoverhead@clix.pt ...or... giabout@sapo.pt @lex
first if your on 3.03 oe-c and 3.10 oe.... just enable flash0 usb and reflash the original file....but if your under youll have to start it all off by putting the 1.50 eboot under: ms0:\PSP\RECOVERY\eboot.pbp good luck
it was ms0:\\PSP\GAME\RECOVERY\\eboot.pbp
When your psp doesn't go past the SCE intro then just put the original unedited file into your flash0 via the recovery menu.
Image>Mode>RGB Color. double click on the layer and click ok. its now editable. anything i do from then on makes the waves completely disappear. maybe it has to be a different color mode? a few more guidelines would be nice. :)
QJ editors pleaseee upgrade the tgaWave rar to version .5 thanks!
1 question i still have the original unedited on the psp ? can you tell my old the stapes please
try using the default TGA first. If it still dosn't work, then you're doing something wrong with the hex editing.
Sorry if it sounded like I was being rude. But the fact is, regardless of whether it was intentional or has caused problems. @DevilGun: Yeah, you are supposed to be able to design your own ones, but it seems that everyones struggling.
I didn't understand your post properly. Pretty funny since I also posted about Ryan misreading things too...
So THAT would explain why only I managed to get it working. I was using version 0.4, not 0.3, because I came across this proggy on the forums. I guess writing the article takes a bit of time. QJ dosn't seem to have fixed this or replied to anything. I recommend just going straight to the forum release thread.

when i edit it the waves dont in my psp they just dissapear. What ami doing wrong?
The concept of this is brilliant and awesome. But the even after following the instructions to a T, I still have a bricked PSP. WTF!? It's a real shame seeing how I had high hopes for this thing.
where is the vsh file directory thing?
woah...a PSP user!!! ...lol I'm a PS user... IN YOUR FACE!! --------------------------- Those with no graphics experience do not get this message
lol, he put slashes but pspu just deletes them! ms0:[slash]PSP[slash]GAMERECOVERY[slash]eboot.pbp
No matter what I do, or who's custom waves I try to insert into my flash0:/vsh/resource/ directory, the waves never show up! just a blank xmb background, well the color displays, but no waves :( what am I doing wrong?!?
how do i get rid of a blank xmb ?
