Sleep 'n wake with Sleep'n'Wake v1.2 |
Ó
When the second version of homebrew application Sleep'n'Wake was released, you guys went, "Great app! Keep up the good work MK2k!" The homebrew developer simply quipped "Will do!" with the almost always given smiley face in the end. Now, guess what? MK2k just did that and released Sleep'n'Wake v1.2 over at QJ.Net Forums.
Just like the second version, the coder mentioned that the homebrew community kept on giving useful suggestions and reporting bugs so he decided to improve the program. For those who don't quite get the drift of this application, it is actually a program that turns your PlayStation Portable (PSP) into an alarm clock.
There are many changes and new features to Sleep'n'Wake v1.2 so you better update your version now. As for the changes, MK2k said that the Snooze Mode!, if activated in the Alarm Mode, has a snooze time between one to nine minutes. Aside from re-arranging the Main Menu, a bug fix has also been implemented to accept ".mp3" in all capitalization variations.
Aside from these, the new features that come with v1.2 are:
- Full cbr/vbr/abr 8kbps-320kbps 44.1kHz MP3 support
- MP3 can be of arbitrary length
- Manage different playlists for Sleep and Wake modes
- Add / remove mp3s
- Save / load / randomize playlists with the Playlist Randomizer Option in the Playlist Edit menu
- In Sleep mode you can set a special, more silent volume
- Wake mode is entered at a preset time with volume maxed (you can always adjust the maximum volume with the VOL + and - keys)
- Snooze for a preset amount of minutes in Wake Mode by pressing L or R shoulder button
- Write yourself a message which will be displayed in Wake mode
- USB Mass Storage can be enabled/disabled within the app
- Energy Save Mode (underclocks the PSP to 50MHz while no mp3 is running)
- Big Digits Time Display (set 24h or 12h am|pm as you like in the Set Wake Time Option)

this is a sweet app., I'm so getting it right now:)
Heya, don't miss the AM|PM time display, aight? ;D
dude when i asked "does it waste yor psp battery" i meant like say you goto bed at 12pm and want to wake at 12am/ Will it be running psp battery power for the time in between?
Yes it will. Read the textfile bundled with the app.
Keep it up man this is some awesome stuff! Also nice to see the dev taking in comments and posting on QJ :)
I had a 0.5 version before the 1.0 came out. That 0.5 was for myself, I was happy with that. Everything else up to 1.2 now is for you lot, so it is necessary to get your suggestions and cummunicate :)
Wonder if it would be hard to change the snooze to make it so you could choose ANY amount of time. I would love something that I could set to go off every 3 hours without having to reset the alarm 6 times a day. I know not many people would need something like that, so it's kind of a selfish request, but thought I'd throw it out there. ;)
hm, i think that would swallow the app too much. Maybe I release sometimes a "pro" version, where you can script events, up to then you must live with setting the alarm by yourself :)
Hmmm but now as i rethink your issue, i think that is possible, ok it's on my TODO list. But next update won't come tomorrow, so stay tuned ;D
Sweet. :)
Does this turn your psp on if you had it in sleep mode like with rss feed downloading?
This is sparta!!! http://www.freewebs.com/easymoneymyway/
Nope. Read the text inside the package to get the point what the app does.
Gotta love this app! But i'd like to know if 50 MHz is the lowest you can go to run this or could you go lower? Caus if you can go lower that would be cool...even though 50 is really low compared to 333 MHz, i like to know that my psp isn't cooking up a storm during the middle of the night if you know what i'm sayin
thanks for this, good idea and very handy to have. thanks again.
Its taken forever to have an alarm on the PSP.......thanks alot !!!!!
Use your logic. How the hell, can your psp keep track of the time without using battery life? Magic?
keep up the good work as this is a handy app for me as i used it today and it was awesome, thanks
thanks (am/pm)
this is a great app, can't believe nobody has thought of it earlier but i have no use for it coz i have a Samsung K5 (the mp3 player with the speakers and also an alarm) but nonetheless great app, keep it up
50MHz for reliability, it can go lower but I had issues with triggering the alarm in say 20MHz. So it'll stick to 50MHz :>
I have yet to try this... but I was wondering... does the mp3 pause during snooze or does it reset back to beginning of the song after the alarm goes off again? and is it skinnable?
It pauses. Skinnable not yet, stay tuned :)
i spit on this kind of homebrew PRAISE ALAH DEATH TO AMERICA
I CAN'T INSTALL ON MY PSP PLEASE HELPME. HOW TO INSTALL THE PROGRAM. THANK'S
Check the readme, you just put it in GAME150 folder as usual if I remember right. Great app BTW, I love the feature to have different volume at night and in the morning! I have wanted this for my stereo for a long time! So anoying that if I wanna use it as an alarm I can't listen to music when I go to sleep since the volum will be to low the next morning, you fxed my problem!
Good to hear, i missed that too ;)
Thanks, used it this morning, and this one is definitely staying on my memory stick ! I know it's a bit too much, but I wish this app could be merged with PSPradio so that it can turn on a webradio instead of standard mp3s....
Yeah, I had that idea before but wanted to make a stand-alone app first. However I'll check if it is possible to enhance pspradio in the SnW way in the future :)
