guitar-tuner

For all those rockstar-wannabes, here's an interesting homebrew application just for you. Released by Zion is the PSP Guitar-Tuner. It basically allows you to play the string in the set you require and lets you play long enough for you to tune in your guitar. Smart, eh? The guitar-tuner features a fully functional menu, along with easy to follow backgrounds, and of course the tuning sounds.

How does it work with the PSP controls? Fairly simple. Start button navigates you through the menu, while Select returns you to the main menu, and the buttons as displayed plays the required tone. Simply select which set you want to tune to via the menu, then follow the onscreen instructions to tune your guitar.

To install this application, put the GTPSP and GTPSP% folders into the PSP/game directory, play from the xmb (PSP Main Menu) and voila! You are all set to rock out!

this would be a whole lot better if it used the microphone from the talkman translator thing...

(forgive me if it already does but the description doesn't mention it)

Only n00bs need a microphone to tune their guitar. About time someone released something like this.

» Been done

I hate to say this, but this program has been done on dcemu for sometime now. It was partially broken. I fixed it, uploaded it to a server and nobody noticed.

Not to mention the other version which came out, (psp guitar) which has many features.

» neat

cool program but the sounds abit um soft and distorted.

by Ken - 2006-08-23 04:37
» This program is a piece of crap

ok first off,

standard tuning and drop D are the same thing except in drop D the low e string gets tuned down to D (one step down).

all the others stay the same.

i havent tested this on a psp but i opened it and looked through the sound files and either standard tunings really wrong or drop d is.

and if thats the case drop c prolly is too.

/>
end of story.

since i have firmware 2.80 im making a flash version of this program using correct tunings.

by cerote pink - 2006-08-23 04:51
» they should....

A little bit harsh. The auther has put effort into it.

I also noticed the lack of knowledge in the sound archive, when one of the sounds was labelled S. I don't know what that stands for...

If the creator wants to stop people taking your sounds or images, I would be happy to help out, after learning from someone else how to stop people opening the files.

I got:

Dean 7 String (don't know the name)

Ibanez 7 String (RGstyle)

B.C. Rich Body ARt Adition (for only $65 but it needed alot of work)

Ibanez SZ720 (NeckThru Rocks and I installed a Dimebucker which is a kick ass set of rails)

And a Mock Fender that was hand made by someone but its a good Jam guitar and has decent action

by klelvliln - 2006-08-23 06:48
» Angus Young's Gibson Sg

yeah thats kool but us wanna be rock stars can tune by ear

by me - 2006-08-23 07:24
» ok...

this isnt the place to brag about your guitar gear, go to harmony-central for that. But anyway, when your working on that flash program, you should include the half steps, such as drop c sharp tuning, Id appreciate that alot.

by CarXCrashXHearts - 2006-08-23 08:33
» Dot dot dot.

The low E is the first string. Also, #9 is a complete idiot due to the fact he/she has 2.80 and neither can that person make sense in a statement.

i have an white rg ibanez with black striping around the edges with emg pickups only the best it sounds amazing top that if you dont believe me ill show you

love the idea of the program, but the sound files are terrible, very staticy and way to quiet, but with those improvements, would be great!

wtf #9 how the hell could you make a flash version of a game that requires sound the PSP browser doesnt support sound so quit tryin to act like your all smart and you know what your talking about and damn why tha hell would you want 2.80 anyway

What, no bass guitar version?

by ` - 2006-08-31 14:46
»

like everyone said, this is an awful thing besides the fact is was done very poorly by some other loser in the past

a chromatic tuner would be a helluva lot more useful

no one would ever use this program unless they were a total noob at guitar anyways

by bass face - 2006-09-03 18:12
» ia agree with joe!

great program, but a bass option would kickass!
