Homebrew developer maxthebest certainly isn't running out of useful applications for the Sony PlayStation Portable. This time around, one of maxthebest's recent PSP homebrew apps, Screensaver (previous version can be found here), has been updated and renamed to a catchier name: SaveMe. SaveMe is an application that allows you to put your Sony PSP on sleep mode. While on sleep mode, you can see the time on the screen. The CPU speed can also be set to save on battery.

The second release of this PSP homebrew application packs in some significant revisions, which you can read about in the changelog below:
  • Now the prx runs in kernel mode (so it kicks out most of the freezes problems)
  • The prx doesn't crash when launching internet browser (thanks to kernel mode)
  • If hold is down, the prx won't launch (useful on USB connexions)
  • Deleted the config file (it will be back soon...) (so time is set to about 30 seconds and cpu to 10MHz)
  • Now the screen is switched off rather than displaying black background (saves more power)
  • Nothing is displayed anymore (as the screen is off, it would be useless)
For further information on how to install this homebrew, just refer to the readme file included in the download below. As always, don't even think of trying to install any and all homebrew applications without going over the readme file, if included. Enjoy!

Hmm..

It seems pretty cool yet the details are pretty vauge. Seems like it only has a time function on it from what I hear and uses battery life from sleep mode. Not exactly sure that I might need this yet tempted.

need a real screensaver

does any1 know of a REAL screensaver for the psp PHAT like something you would see on windows xp or any other windows. if there isnt i would just like to make this a suggestion to maxthebest for the next version of SaveMe, i think it should have a a config file which should show the amount of time the psp has to be idle for the screensaver to start and if there is a text screensaver you should be able to change the text to what you want it to be. i have always wanted a actual screensaver or a series of screensavers for the psp phat. hope there is one soon.
