RCO Editor v1.15b - Image 1Homebrew developer ZiNgABuRgA has rolled out RCO Editor v1.15b, which fixes a bug in the decompression and GIM conversion routine. If you missed our previous coverage on this application, this program allows users to modify RCO files in the PSP's flash0 directory.

The RCO Editor is a pretty flexible tool which allows users to replace icons, sounds, text and even modify some page and animation data. If you've been using an older version of this application, you might be interested in viewing the RCO Editor v1.15 b. Here are the changes:

Changes in 1.15b
  • Fixed a bug in the decompression and GIM conversion routine
Changes in 1.15:
  • Rewrote GIM <-> BMP conversion routine
  • Dimension restrictions removed, as well as the "visible dimension" nonsense (RCO Editor automatically fixes that)
  • osk_utility.rco icons no longer cause crashes
  • Support for creating 4 bit and 32 bit GIMs (previously, only 8 bit supported) - effectively removing the 256 colour restriction
  • You can now use ICO, PNG and GIF files as inputs, in addition to 4 bit BMPs
  • Other minor changes and bug fixes
  • Added option to disable compressing resources - this is for some 3.7x RCOs not working properly with compression enabled
If you plan on downloading this application and trying it out be sure to go over the entire Read Me document included with the compressed file to avoid any unwanted problems. The developer also pointed out in his release post that those who plan on using the RCO Editor 1.15b should backup their original flash0 resource files before flashing custom RCOs.
