tee logoThis just in from our "Whatever Happened To..." Department:

Team Emergency Exit (TEE) has released a host of WIP news about some homebrew apps that you may have been wondering about. Well, wonder no more. The absence of updates was caused by a bachelor thesis, which is way harder to make than homebrews.

But the team is back and here's the latest:
  • Quake 2 will be the priority PSP project and the team promised to finish it.
  • Homebrew Manager was a nice idea but due to lack of public interest and because TEE couldn't find a server that would host the homebrew he decided to shelve it. (Memo to TEE: QJ will be more than happy to host all your apps!)
  • DualFlash is obsolete with the mod chip and was too expensive for the developers to play with the hardware. The project has also been dropped.
The score so far: One game on, two apps down.

However, you can expect a new game from Team Emergency Exit for the PSP and PC. Team member McZonk says it's not a port but a complete new game. So we'll keep an eye on that!

dual flash

nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo, no dual flash why am i the only one mad about this?

@#6 because there are Custom Firmwares, that allow you to launch a Homebrew or 1 of 2 different Firmwares (using DevHook or not) while booting the PSP. WLAN on while booting launches normal FW 1.50. WLAN off while booting launches last used Firmware of DevHook Pressing X while booting launches a Homebrew (can be changed in a config File) So it don't make sense to finish this dualboot thing. @News great to hear that Quake2 will be finished

Great news

All I am interested in is Quake 2, that game rocks and I simply cannot wait for it to be able to play real levels on the Psp. The Psp just gets better and better each day thanks to homebrew. Very nice to hear they haven't quit on Quake.

YES!

YES! Finally! I've been waiting for this day for a few months now. I really like quake 2, and can't wait to play it on my psp.

This is good new for the Quake 2 port

I have been looking forward to this for a long time, and I am really glad that they are working on it again.

"DualFlash is obsolete with the mod chip and was too expensive for the developers to play with the hardware. The project has also been dropped." Ah, arent there far more obvious reasons for dropping that? - Cough, cough custom firmware already done it... Anyway TEE Welcome Back, i was wondering when i could play Quake2 again. :)

Insider comment (nothing I can leak, though)

Hi, @LordSturm: You're confusing DualBoot and DualFlash DualBoot: Developed by placa to make different boot options depending on the WLan switch state DualFlash: The first ever concept of a PSP modchip, as part of a homebrew SDK (so not for the mass market) About *******... I can't really leak anything... Let's say: One less reason to buy a DS. :D Don't bother asking, I can't give you any real information.
