PSX2PSP v0.7: a new converter for PSX games |

PopStation is the name for one of those fake PSP-looking gadgets that play bad versions of Tetris, but the PopStation that talks about PSX game emulation is something we definitely love. Hot on the heels of the danny_kay1710 and Quake's PopStation GUIs is another application that seeks to make PSX emulation a lot easier.Except it's not a GUI.
Zalbard has released PSX2PSP, an alternative program for converting PSX iso files from their normal format into the PSP eboot.pbp format. Zalbard says it works "without cygwin.dll, base.pbp and popstation.exe," so it may be something fellows with slower computers might want to try using if your conversions take a lot longer than expected. This is version 0.7, and he hopes to add additional features in future releases.
Now for some actual info on the app. We've noticed that it runs just as fast as the PopStation in converting files, and sometimes goes faster than the PopStation depending on the game you're converting. PSX2PSP v0.7 has a problem with saves though, as he mentioned in his tip to us, so be forewarned.
All in all, it's impressive, and you may want to try it out for yourself if you're feeling the need for a change. Enjoy the download, and have fun satisfying your RPG fix.
Note: The PSX2PSP download contained files of an illegal nature, it has since been removed. If you are determined to find this all in one PSX to PSP converter best of luck finding it on the interwebs.

What is this Speed++?
It speeds up the conversion, but it creates more lags in the game.

this is nice .. except I dont understand anything. i love dark alex. i made my 1.5 psp in 3.02 OE-A then into 3.02 OE-B.. but this psx converting and all that is too complicated so i download it from bit comet. pls make the words a lil more easier and specific. and pls put pics of how to convert to. anyways. i was wondering. umm.. does he mean like we put our own ps1 games in the comp then convert?
The blog said it no longer requires base.pbp, those that mean you no longer have to have a copy of Hot Shots to convert?
my Pop station rocks. Way better deal. It was only like $15. Screen might not be as nice but has way better load times...
Or if you are lazy, try creating a shortcut to popstation. Then drag your iso on top of the shortcut.

Next, I've investigated the EXE file and this program seems to INCLUDE PART OF SONY'S HOT SHOTS GOLF 2 EBOOT WHICH IS COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL SOLD AT THE PS1 STORE AND IS NOT LEGAL TO DISTRIBUTE! Moreover the program seems to include/generate a keys.dat file from thin air which ALSO SEEMS NOT LEGAL TO ME! I think you should investigate that or take the download down ASAP before Sony finds out!!
just mark the option to make keys files and select the iso file and CONVERT! i tested crash team racing and ists near perfect! only thing is sound at main menu and the screen is a bit down. but i think thats coz its a PAL game you don't need hot shot 2 iso or any ***** like this, just mark the KEYS option Didn't tested with Speed++ option yet
i found it but it doesn't matter, I'm still at 2.8 (ta-82) and it won't work. I wish someone would PLEASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSE make a downgrade from 2.8 to 2.71!!

dude it's out now, you can downgrade, but not 100% chance, only like 90% successful so far..but you can downgrade, it's on this site. I'm waiting to see a 2.81 downgrader for ta-081 or ta-079 for my friend, so he can finally downgrade and quit wasting money buying fps's on the psp, since they all sucks for the most part.

IF you have to the custom 3.02 firmware or IF you can just use the official sony 3.1 firmware to play the ps1 games. Anybody know?
Don't know if you were talking to me but if you were I can't downgrade. I have a 2.8fw TA-82. If someone would make a downsoft to 2.71 I'd be in good shape. Only problem with the 3.01(whatever it is) OE-A/B is that DA dropped the location free TV and I have it and use it on my PSP.

Yup - open the EXE file in a resource editor - you'll see the BASE.PBP and KEYS.BIN files right there. Yeah, I know this is totally irrelevant, and no-one really cares, but I just feel like saying crap...

What are people using to convert the ps1 original disc to iso? I've tried nero and sonic's program both make an iso file and I've converted it to an eboot but it simply will not load.. the boot menu shows up in the game section but the second I click on it boom.. shows the playstation info then black .. so it's definitely something I'm doing wrong when ripping..

Yeah I just tested dbz ultimate 22 and it didnt work (black screen, pressed home key and it went to the psx screen with button assigning and screen mode so it seems to be working , just not this game, lol , im going to rip MGS next and test it ...
Who gives a *****ing *****? At least it doesnt include any game data, just the emulation files (which can still be used in popstation, just use that eboot made, turn it into base.pbp and it works). There is "part of the eboot", but not any game data, which is why the eboot remains at 1.41 MB. When you convert your game, it writes the iso headers and the iso to the eboot. Next time think well, because I can even use the same data from other games and it wont matter. And also, about the pictures (icon0, pic1) included in the eboot (1mb), well theyre found all over the net so no need to call it illegal...
Good thing you got it, now get ready for future PopStation releases by DAX. This converter has problem with game saves, so use PopStation for the full PSone experience.
It's illegal because you don't own the license to it, not because you can't download it.
No you don't need it for this converter, my guess is that it has something similar that he has made himself (and thus legal to distribute)

I had that same problem, it was some kind of problem with my ISOs. When I tried isobuster (available at download.com) it worked perfect, except I'm in PAL region so my graphics are shifted down a bit
Well, just tried out Crash Bandicoot 1... it works, just the screen is a bit offset to the bottom... the bottom is a bit cut off and there is black space between the border of the LCD and the game screen :) And the savegames work for this game :)

It would be nice if you put an option for ICON0.png PIC0.png and PIC1.png... I'm gonna stick with popstation for that reason.. I want my own Logos/Icons... Well, if this alredy got that function, I'm sorry.

Wow this is so great....not.. I dont see the big deal for all us popstation users, the popstation is much better, guaranteed working, and yea. Although a + for our friendly dial-up users out there who just cant torrent hot shots/crash bandicoot.

All the guys that have a space between the picture and the top of the LCd using PAL Games so , Please I found 1 converter in www.pal4u2000.com and looking for Zapper2K (or Zapper2000) Can any1 Post where i can find it , it's an old program. Please , I want to check it beacuse i heard the best converter from Pal -> NtSc is donw with both programs. Thanks.

I'm using NTSC and I still have a gap at the top and bottom of my LCD.
After using IsoBuster on FF7 & FF Tactics, I used this to make eboots but when I try to load them under GAME, all I get is a stall on the background XMB without icons and text (but it is not frozen, the wavy lines still move) Anyone else have the same experience with these games?

The emu was designed for NTSC games, and PAL games have a few extra scanlines, so that's probably why the bottom's slightly cut off.
It's probably the same save problem that you're going to run into with popstation. Since the game label is hot shots 2 on all your converted games, if you try to save 2 different converted games on the same memory card they both try to save in the same place.
There is no group called MP3.
No they wont. They don't save to the savegames folder, they create their own files in the game folder.
Nevermind what I wrote, my point is that they don't. All of my savegames from other games had their own spot when I was looking at them with Crash Bandicoot.
I never see anything mentioned about the DOCUMENT.DAT file contained with the Hot Shots Golf 2 game. Is it an unnessesary file?

Right, and Crash Bandicoot isn't a POPSTATION converted game. ;) Of course all you need to do is open up the eboot with the newest version of PSPBrew and change the game label (don't mess with anything else though), and then save it, and no more save game problems.

There's JUST 16 bytes!!! You can seen it in any BIG file, just copy of that! qj do not listen this fools. You're using pirate firmware, downloading and playing iso's - that's LEGAL???

I made an image of Spryo Riptos Rage using alcohol 120% and then i used this thing to make a eboot out of it. I copied the Eboot.Pbp and Keys.Bin to E:/PSP/Game/Spyro and when i try to run it on my psp it gives me "The game could not be started (80020321)" I have psp firmware 3.02 OE-B with a datel 4 gb hard drive. Am i doing something wrong? Syphon Filter which i got from the playstation store doesnt work either. :(

I could be wrong, but I believe that it's the instruction booklet that you can view in game. So no, you really don't need to add the hot shots 2 instruction booklet in with your other games.

Perhaps YOU use pirated isos, but some of us still own PSone games and would LOVE to see them on our PSPs. ...Or are you one of the fools who upgraded to 3.03 and are simply jealous of the rest of us? I use ISO Producer; it's meant specifically for PS1 discs... which my drive has SERIOUS problems reading.
I don't know what the whole problem with saves is all about. I play my PS1 games and save fine.
just patch your eboots so they wont overwrite each other...
i think thats the same error I saw when I tried removing my KEYS.BIN from my folder...
i just installed 3.02 OE-B with no problems, but now when i try to start the PSX game i made with this (i used GT2 sim mode disc) it sorta locks up and then fades black then a message comes up "the game could not be started (80000004)" does anyone else get this? and does anyone know how to fix it?
Downgrade from 2.8 to 2.71 then use the TA-082 downgrader.

Seems the games are not compatible with custom boot sounds. I reset the original boot sound on my PSP and both games work perfectly.
I have the same problem except i see error 80020321 and then i go back to the xmb. Using a datel hard drive, any one know for a fix for this?
You can select a new icon for the eboot, thats what I did Castlevania actually saves! This is the only problem with this converter, saving. FF7 does not save.

i got OE-B and uhh i ripped Star wars Jedi Power Battles and converted it and got the keys.bin or whatever and it still dosent work!! it boots into a black screen and then does nothing. then (what i assume since the PS3 isn't out in Australia yet) when i press the home button and like a menu comes up for buttons and screen mode and manual and obviously quit game.... WHAT DO I DO!!! -dano PS: it was a PAL game

I've been looking into this error (8020321) and it is a problem with the Datel hard drive :-( Other homebrew apps have had the same problem with the hard drive. It is unlikely that you did something incorrectly with popstation.
