Do you have some more room for another PopStation GUI? Well, we better accommodate them since a lot of devs are keen on helping us maximize the capabilities of 3.02 OE-B. JuniorSlick passed by our forums recently and shared with us this program called PSX2PSP v0.5 which is a simple Popstation GUI blessed with image, save, and title support.

How to use it? Well, unlike danny_kay's take on the PopStation GUI gig, this one doesn't come with a readme file. But don't worry, the forum release thread is pretty comprehensive. Anyhow, this was made by KingSquitter and since this is the first time that we're talking about it, we'll give you some instructions on how to use it.

Usage
  • Place all the normal popstation files (BASE.PBP, KEYS.BIN and popstation.exe) in the "files" folder before use.
  • cygwin1.dll have to be in either c:windowssystem32 or in the "files" foler.
  • Don't have any other files than cygwin1.dll, BASE.PBP, KEYS.BIN and popstation.exe in the "files" folder.
v.0.5 info:
  • New name.
  • Handles already converted PBP files better. It is now possible to change title, game id and all other info in allready converted PBP files.
  • Preview option.
  • Extracts save ID from ISO file.
  • Gets game title from DB.
  • Separate game title and save title. Multidisk games can have different game titles but with one save title.
  • Shows what region the game is from.
  • SAVE THE NEW CUSTOMIZED EBOOT ON DESTOP AND THEN OVERWRITE THE PREVIOUS ONE AS IT WILL MAKE YOUR PSX GAMES NOT WORK
When changing stuff in a already converted PBP file all images have to be added again.

# This app does it all...ALMOSTGuest 2006-12-28 22:05
I just wish it had ONE feature. When opening an existing eboot it cannot see that it currently has icon(s). Meaning if you just want to change the name or save ID you lose the images attached to the eboot. Make it like PSP Content Manager or PSPBrew, where it can locate and temp store the current eboot images and I this thing will be PERFECT.

# Much better than danny_kai's GUIkathos 2006-12-28 22:19
This works much better for me. For some reasons danny_kai's output files decided to be really gay and not work.

This one's worked fine for me, and the ICON/PIC changes actually work. But one thing is that I need to get the resolution of the images resized so they don't look like blurs, but that's more my problem than this app's.

And to those looking for they key/base files, don't go looking through torrentspy, because it certainly doesn't have 200 seeds.

Awesome release.

Not only has this GUI been around for a few days. But v0.5.1 has been out for about 8 hours already. Long before this post came up. This news should have been updated before it was even posted on the site :P

# One Feature..Ninkul 2006-12-29 00:58
One feature i'm wanting in this is converting the PAL addresses in the ISO to NTSC (with Y-Fix of course), though i dont think we're going to see that in a PSX->PSP conversion tool anytime soon lol

# To the developer...MDFGuest 2006-12-29 04:31
popstation (command line) can process .mdf files (from alcohol) - have not tried your GUI yet - if it is not already, please make next version capable of using this function of popstation. Looks great - can't wait to try.

Yes, FF7 lets you save before switching discs, you can load that save on the next disc.

# corrupt iconGuest 2006-12-29 04:39
The best way to hide corrupt icon of recovery folder is to delete the recovery folder!! You don't need it unless your going to downgrade or reflash OE from the recovery menu, in which case you can enable USB from recovery menu and copy the recovery folder across.

This program sucks. Try Simple POPStation By Zinga Zurga. Its easier and have a built in database with all PSX games released by SCUSxxxx.

You just put ISO, output folder and select game title from the provided list. Under that you get thye custom image part with ICO0.PNG, PIC.PNG (or UNKNOWN.PNG) and PIC1.PNG.

Hit convert and thats it. Why is the SCUSxxxx number that important? Becasue to make multi-disc game work properly u have to make sure the game title and Game ID is the same for each disc and this app include the correct numbers.

Dont download this halfassed effort of app

# Games Not WorkingGuest 2006-12-29 06:16
Have tried Battle Arena Toshinden 1,2 & 3 - Soul Blade, Madden 97, WarHawk, Madden 04, NFL GameDay (all original NTSC PSX) and I get a black screen after the white text. Conversion rate is 0% - anyone having better luck? Anyone get any of these games running on PSP? Using Alcohol 120 (mfd image) and popstation command line.

# adding SND0.AT3Guest 2006-12-29 09:37
I actually like this program better because you can change the name from hot shots golf to the name of the game.

But does anyone know how to add music to it?

I converted the music file but it didn't start when I chose the game on my PSP.

is it cause the file was too big? (about 4mbs)

Its just a name. The version number doesn't matter either. I could release a psx2psp of myself that blows up your computer, thats v1000.94.

Names and version number doesn't matter :P. Are you happy, now I look like an idot :(.

Spider Man you should try this one, you pick your ISO and it automatically fills in the game name and will hex the EBOOT for you. It also automatically does the SCUSxxxx however on multi-disc titles you should change the numbers to be the same, looking at the db:

SCUS94163;;[U];SCUS-94163;;;;PS1;Final Fantasy VII [Disc1of3]

SCUS94164;;[U];SCUS-94164;;;;PS1;Final Fantasy VII [Disc2of3]

SCUS94165;;[U];SCUS-94165;;;;PS1;Final Fantasy VII [Disc3of3]

# Hiding the recovery folder.Guest 2007-01-25 14:10
I read through this thread and still found no solution, why doesnt the custom firmware hide the recovery folder corrupt icon too?

Is there any method (apart from removing it) to hide it, i.e: folder renaming conventions?

Thanks in advance
