PSPRadio Pre-Release With Links2 Browser! |

Ó

Raf, the author of one of the greatest PSP homebrew PSPRadio, has just given out another pre-release of PSPRadio. But there's more this time. He has just ported Links2 to the PSP!
First, I'll just give some details about PSPRadio itself. PSPRadio is an internet radio streaming client for the PSP. You can listen to shoutcast music on your PSP. It streams the music to your PSP from online radios, so there's so much music to choose from! There don't seem to be any changes from the older version of PSPRadio.
Now with PSPRadio out of the way, let me introduce you to Links2. It's is an open-source browser, originally made for Linux. It's always been one of the favorites for hardcore Linux users. And it has been ported to almost every architecture available out there. So it's about time it was ported to our favorite handheld. And guess what ? It's a fully featured browser which can be used on your PSP 1.5. It's bundled as a plugin along with PSPRadio.
A few minutes of usage reveals that it's quite a capable and nimble browser. You can download right to the Memory Stick. You can even view most of the sites since it supports Javascript too. And yes, you can check out PSPUpdates with it! There are a few niggles here and there, but that will most probably be sorted out in one of the upcoming releases.
For now, have fun with PSPRadio and Links2. All of our forum members are excited too. Here are a bunch of screenshots which Raf has taken just for demonstration. And yes, that's PSPUpdates being viewed in Links2. Thanks Raf!

wouldn't it be better to make it a standalone than a plugin?
Maybe that will reduce the memory issue...
When i try to start link2 in pspradio-3dtextmode.. i got memory problem and it gave me an error screen..
But no problem starting it in pspradio-textmode..

I'm suprised they didn't give any thanks for Danzeff in the comments. I'm sure it's in the readme though. That neat little OSK has been used it two programs now. It's a nice piece of software. It would be nice if they could Flash mod Danzeff into the 2.0 web browser.
By the way, it isn't compatible with 2.01+ because it is a plugin for the dynamic version of PSPRadio. The dynamic version isn't compatible with the higher firmware versions as of yet.

Besides maybe its jst me missing something but the number of categories of radio stations in this build is very low than before. I remember a month ago when I first discovered PsPRadio I was listening to some right wing hate monger... but anyways... am i missing something?

For some reason, this version of PSPRadio doesn't recognize my wifi connection. the name of it comes up as a bunch of symbols, the actual name of it is ' Painter '. I'm sure it will be amazing once I figure out how to get it to see my wap.
And thank you so much for the browser. I love you.

As with Rafs early PSPradio pre-releases which were buggy..they got better and better and now work superbly. I remember when PSPradio would lose my stream every few minutes. Thankfully this problem is long gone.
Now..if only i can surf the net with Links2 and PSPradio streaming in the background without it giving me that damned red screen!!!

...what was that for? "Long live Chairman Mao!!!"?
Stop going off-topic...

Why are the screenshots all offline? o_O
But I wish I can test it, I don't have a decent router/USB wireless dongle that can support PSP and use xlink kai.

Anyway, I really hope they release this as a standalone browser. It's the best 1.5 browser out there, and if it was standalone, there would probably be more memory that coud be allocated. I don't know, but I just don't like having to open up PSPradio and go to the link2 browser.

Just think of what PSP-Radio was like when it first came out, and think of it now. Raf is very dedicated to the hombrew scene, and we can expect frequent updates and fixes that will change the way people use their PSP. I have seen so many posts about how internet on PSP is worthless, and now that there is now a good, open-sourced browser the posibilities are endless...

Thanks to all the people that are happy with the port!.
I'll try to release as a stand-alone version next week..
Raf.
That would be pretty awesome man. Especially if it will allow us to load larger websites. I can't tell you how much I appreciate your work. Everyone needs to send this project some money. I will when I can afford it.
Thanks a million man. .A.J.
