PSPQsteer - PSP homebrew by pacopad - Image 1The last time we heard from PlayStation Portable homebrew developer pacopad was for PicoozIR's release. Today, we got another release from the French developer: PSPQsteer, a homebrew application that lets you use your Sony portable as an RC controller.

The Tomy Qsteer cars are pretty simple, you get a small controller and a small IR operated car. Pacopad's PSPQsteer allows users to choose from four channels (A - Triangle, B - Square, C - Circle, and D - Cross) and users can control the car using the D-pad (plus the right trigger button for dash) to control the car.

This release of PSPQsteer is still on beta so pacopad is calling for some comments and suggestions about this initial release. This doesn't come with a readme, but installation is simple - just drop the files on your GAME folder. Check out the download below and test it out on your Qsteer. Enjoy!

Cool

Lol, I was looking for something like this earlier today and now it happened. Maybe I should look for dates with supermodels.

RC cars

Do the ZipZaps that you buy at RadioShack work with this.

umm

Nah zip zaps are radio controlled and you can mod them also to go as fast as some larger rc cars. 20-30mph.

Have been waiting for this

Got a ChoroQ car last summer and was wondering if the PSP could be used with it. Controls are very responsive with this program, although they do take a little getting used to (I don't know if the steering could be controlled by the DPad as well, although I suspect that it would would not be as responsive or finely-tuned as the current set-up). The PSP does not have the range of the original controller, but that 's probably a hardware issue. Overall, a great program! Thanks!!!

Suggestion

How about programmable buttons? I've been searching for such a long time now... You see, I've got an old IR controlled car, not too different from the one in the picture I think, but I don't think it'll ever be supported officially. I bought it like 5+ years ago and never seen it in stores since. Pretty fun tho.
