PspIrda 0.0.1 |
Ó
Mat17 stopped by our forums recently and shared to us his homebrew application, PspIrda 0.0.1. From the name of the app itself, you may already have an idea as to what this is for. Basically, PspIrda is a file transfer program which will let you transfer files between your PSP, cell phone, Palm, PC and other compatible devices. This looks like a first release, so play nice you guys.
According to him, the Irda stack used in this program isn't from him, but from an anonymous author who wishes not to promote his work. But still, Mat17 extends his thanks to him.
Anyhow, the app has its share of shortcomings. For now, the only working configurations are file transfers between the PSP and a Nokia 6131. The other configurations (PSP-PSP, PSP-PC, PSP-cell phones, Palm-PSP, etc) are yet to be tested, so your feedback would help a lot. On our side, we tried it with a Nokia 6233 and too bad for us, it didn't work, but hey that's just us. The dev also divulged that the main problem with this release is the transfer speed. According to him, "it's slow, really slow; the speed is 9600pbs."
Also, the GUI isn't exactly to die for, but he said that his objective in creating this app was to release something functional to test it with other devices. With that, the download link is right down there. Mat17 included a debug version which has a debug.log containing the data exchanged between the two devices. View this release as a diamond in the rough and hopefully, it wouldn't take so long for this app to be one sparkling bling.

Yay! Finally the Psp's IR system can be used better! I`m trying on my Nokia 7260.... Yay first post! lolz...
I think there will be another version of this very soon because it sounds like a nice app. :)
Now this is a great app... This homebrew will be first prority in my PSP. Nice, well done! Cheers.
Hey All (sent the creator an e-mail on this already btw)! Tested this on my IPAQ 3115rx. It sent a small file (66bytes), but only sent a tiny portion of a larger file (124kb) before failing. Regardless, it will communicate with PDAs - looking forward to the next release! --Databoy2k
Hmm i tried this with my N6131, but doesnt work.
excellent ive been waiting on this for a long time :)
This requieres kernel access right? :(
Hell Yeah, i have been searching for this type of app for a long time! Keep up the good work!
this is good news. i been waaitin for something like this to use with my se w800i. wouldn't it be cool to use your phone as an ir modem for your psp to get online without having to be in a hot spot. that'd be nice. or how about a nice remote for my laptop for watchin movies
It won't work for me.. Boy pspupdates made it sound really ethused about this program. NOT. Anyway this file seems to small I think its nothing more than a souped up hello world but thats just me.
Gee *****ing Gee, arent you a happy fellow.
Good program, very slow but has the major functions to send/ recieve files over irda. (working on my nokia 6101)
Goodwork on this program and to the other author. Will this work on 2.71 SE-C? I have a infared reciever on my laptop, desktop, printer, and 2 different phones so I would like to try it out.
it works on my biki i can make it do tricks and send it messages...yay
YOU ARE A GOD!!!! I LOVE WHOEVER WROTE THIS! SAVED MY ASS TODAY! and it's funny how today i searched all over the web for something like this and it just got released! wonderful app! works perfectly with my siemens s65/66. thank you!
Thank you for your comments. To JohnnyMcKinney : if it's a simple "hello world" program, it's a magic one to have so much PSP talk with phones, laptops, etc! the problem is I'm not Gandalf... Don't forget to send the debug.log if it doesn't work (read instructions in the zip) MaT
I was able to send a TINY amount of information from my psp to my Nokia 3200. My phone was also able to send the same file back without error. When I say tiny, I mean tiny (Like 26 bytes). If I try to send a ringtone or crappy phone pic, it won't work.
Try with the debug version with a big file and send me the debug.log created in the psp/game/pspirda directory. MaT
I can tell you that PSP-Nokia 6230 works, but very, very slowly (5 minutes for 68,8 kb, a photo form phone to PSP). I was able to send a photo from my 6230 to my PSP, and send a picture of a savegame back to the 6230 form the PSP. But it's very, very slow. If you can speed it up, i'd been in heaven
hey it works with my mobile nokia 6230i, too
this is bullsh*t look how slow the dam thing is
