PSPComic v0.9 screenshot - Image 1Given that a very, very large demographic of the PSP community love their comics/manga/magazines as much as their games (and homebrew), we imagine somebody out there will take a liking to Archaemic and Kip's PSPComic application. This homebrew is a comic book reader built to read cbzs and cbrs directly from the PSP's memory stick.

As Archaemic states, the app may slow down when resizing large images, although the program allows user to overclock their PSP to 333MHz to remedy this problem. As for the rough on this first release's controls:
  • D-Pad: Pan
  • Triangle: Zoom in
  • Cross: Zoom out
  • Circle: Rotate clockwise
  • Square: Rotate counterclockwise
  • Select: Zoom to fit width
  • Start: Open menu
  • Left shoulder: Previous page
  • Right shoulder: Next page
Full installation and usage instructions (Menu controls) are available in the file README. Users are also advised that this app will run on firmwares 1.50, 2.71 SE, 3.02 OE, 3.03 OE, 3.10 OE, and 3.30 OE. Lastly, the bundle also carries PSPComic v0.9 Beta's source codes - users planning to use these for future works will be reminded these codes are mostly under GPL.

Guys looking for other important details can also visit Archaemic over at PSPComic's release thread in the QJ.Net Forums. We thank the pair for the effort, and hope the guys here will enjoy the download. Keep posted for future updates.

There's been a great program already out for the PSP called PEP-viewer, hasn't been updated in a while, but it works very well for comic viewing. http://pepviewer.blogspot.com/ ... Course I'm sure this'll do a nice job too lol ^^

THANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOU

THE ONE THING I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR SINCE I OPENED THE BOX OF THE PSP! THANK YOU! It seems to work quite well and has yet to give me any problems, and i like the simple interface, and the zoom adjustment is nice to(when noticeable). Only other thing i could really ask out of this is the ability to listen to MP3's while viewing the comics. This however, is more than enough! Im off to read some BATMAN and DARKNESS again, thank you

Love it!

This is a great program. I really like it. Cbr and cbz files are actually rar files with images in them, so you can also use it to read PSP magazines. Just rar the images and rename the .rar file to .cbr The only thing I would like to see in the next version is the option to always view the images at their original size. With large images you have to press triangle a couple of times every time you go to the new page. But hey, we've got the source. :)

imo eReader's the best viewer for the PSP atm, with it's text and image viewer. You can listen to mp3's while browsing files and it also supports zips and rars. Also it has bookmarks and many other features.

fantastic

hi, thanks a lot for this nice app. some suggestions: -have the programm remember the rotation settings (or make an option for always rotate) -make a two-page view (to get the original page design as intended by the artist) cheers

problems

Not sure what I'm doing wrong, but every time I try and load a comic, the program says: "SDL_image error: JPEG loading error" help.

Great Program

Thanks Archaemic! This is a handy utility. It's works wonderfully. I will second the motion made by dude: It should remember zoom and rotation settings when changing pages. Also, is it possible to only cache the viewable area to speed up load times? (as opposed to loading the whole page each time), or would that make scrolling to difficult? I imagine the speed of the PSP and the flash memory would not make it too difficult as it loads rather quickly as it is. Congrats on your homebrew Archaemic. Keep up the good work.
