PSP2MIDI Update |
Ó
Rob King has updated his nifty PSP2MIDI application. According to the dev, "there are not really any new features" in this update, but he has made it easier for you to install the application, so that's definitely helpful. Now, you don't need to install other programs such as Python to make this program run. Rob King updated his application such that the only thing you need to do is download the zip file below, run setup.exe, and copy __SCE__PSPMIDI and %__SCE__PSPMIDI to /PSP/GAME/ on your PSP. Simple, isn't it?
This allows you to use your PSP as a wireless mouse for Windows, as well as a MIDI controller for your (Windows) PC. A Mac version is also in the works for countless Mac users out there.
On a final note, Rob King says that "If you would like to use PSP2MIDI as an input controller for Cubase or any other sequencer, you need a virtual MIDI driver like MIDI Yoke NT (http://www.midiox.com/myoke.htm). Then select one of the MIDI Yoke NT Ports in the output device selection screen of the PC server app and you can play any VST instrument in Cubase using your PSP and impress your friends :)"
If you want to try this out, just click on the download link below. Moreover, feel free to share us what you think about this application.
Thanks a lot StoneCut for the heads-up!

if there were a way to use this in combination with a pogram like pspkick or psprhythm, that would be awsome. I can already see myself making drum patterns on the psp, sending them to cubase, wirelessly editing them. A Dream come true! Someone, anyone? Pretty please with sugar on top?
FIRST POST WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
this is awsome i love, keep it up, the mouse is a lil laggy but its nice thanx
@2..... Don't you feel bad now.. Now you tought you could screem 1ST!.... But didn't type fast enough and ended just second... Don't you feel how stupid it is even trying..? Don't you?? Ontopic: Nice tool, ill try it, but i don't know if it works on my windows x64. but if it worked it could be used with more programs then cubase.. like one of my dj progs, and that would rule ;)
This is a great idea that has a world of potential. You have my full intrest, will try this out after i get out of work. i also didnt know about virtual midi drivers, i knew about virtual cd/dvd drives, heh you learn something new everyday :D
The virtual MIDI driver is not needed to test the application. You can always select "Microsoft Wavetable Synth GS" as output device and play right away. That will be quite laggy, however. But if you want to feed any Sequencer like Cubase, Logic, Fruity or whatever with MIDI data you will need a virtual MIDI driver to connect to. If you run 64-Bit Windows you will need to find one that supports that, I guess. You will get much less lag if you use a virtual MIDI driver and then play an instrument in Cubase using ASIO with it.
