Portable VNC

The wonderful Ahman, the same person who is bringing us the latest version of iR Shell to the PSP soon has released another application to make your PSP much more useful. If you have no idea what this does then here's PSP VNC in a nutshell: VNC stands for Virtual Networked Computing, and it simply means you can use your portable console (i.e. PSP) to control things that run on your PC. Sound cool? Yes it does. The project was first started by TeamXos and has been updated by Zx-81  to include a host of new updates. Now, it has been modified by Ahman to run on firmware 2.71 via Dark_Alex's HenC.

Although many users are now on Dark_Alex's custom firmware 2.71 SE, it's nice to know that there are still a few developers out there making other 2.71 applications for some users. This update to PSP-VNC v1.2.2a not only adds support for firmware 2.71 via Dark_Alex's HenC but also enables you to use the HOME button to exit the application. The download includes 1.5 and 2.71 binary versions as well as the source code. Enjoy your PC's new remote control!

Ok. Is there a program that goes on my computer for this. If there is, then the program isnt included. How do I use it. I got it to load on my psp and all, but what do I do on the computer side.

@Kyle M

you said "Although many users are now on Dark_Alex's custom firmware 2.71 SE" Please think one minute about TA082 owners... if you write such things on QJ, developers won't feel the need to write apps for anything than Dark Alex's 2.71SE, and once again, TA082 owners will be the ones left behind... So many thanks to all developers who think about us !

huh

wtf i was always using this with my 2.71 se.
by - 2006-11-14 19:43:56
what can it do

What can this app do?
by - 2006-11-14 20:16:23
2.71

this is for 2.71 not SE
by - 2006-11-14 20:37:30
hg

where do u type "make -f Makefile.dev clean; make -f Makefile.dev" at?.
by - 2006-11-14 20:42:38
Emmm

To amorbis, you were using this under 2.71SE because it was actually being launched by the 1.5 kernel that SE has "native" to it. With that said, you still didn't have access to WPA capabilities because the 1.5 kernel portion of SE doesn't support WPA... only WEP. So, here's the definative question... will this run in emulated 2.71 (i.e. DevHook) without issues? Yes, some people are just too lazy to give it a try and see...

yeah

yeah so true who wants to brick their psp by installing a program which is still in development
by - 2006-11-14 22:05:18
It works on devhook

yeah it works just try it but the only problem that you have install only the devhook files of henc, the other way doesn't work
by - 2006-11-14 22:41:21
install

does this work with anything higher than 2.71 like 2.81 and where do you download the file to on ur psp?
by - 2006-11-14 23:16:22
Not yet...

Currently, the highest this will work with is 2.71. Not 2.80 yet, and unless an exploit is found, 2.81 is right out of the question.

Can anyone use this for more than 5 minutes?

Whenever i've used this, its incredibly slow and becomes pretty much unusable after about five minutes, and thats using it with TightVNC. Has anyone been able to use this smoothly for an extended period of time without any problems?

hen C ???

"adds support for firmware 2.71 via Dark_Alex's HenC" quick question..... it says hen c??? im still using hen b because it works just fine for me so i never felt the need to upgrade it to hen c that shouldnt be a problem should it?
by - 2006-11-15 15:35:22
wow

rather people really dont pay attention or just dont have a clue. sorry for anyone reading this that actually learned sumthin from there gaming experience so far. maybe qj should have a bulletin in there menu so that all 2.8+ readers can read explaining that unless an downgrader comes out they are screwed to only music and media. The new eloader for gta is now compatile with 2.71 so hopefully he can find a way to make it work on 2.8+ then people can use gta lcs to downgrade like i did origionally at 2.01. oh sorry not on topic am i. does this work on se firmwaRES dont feel like bricking my psp again.
