PSP-Maps v0.4: browse maps offline using the cache |
Ó
Homebrew developer Royale has released a new version of his PSP-Maps application, bumping it up to version 0.4. If you haven't heard of this app, it's a map reader for your PSP, patterned after Google Maps, yet without using the Google Maps API.As you can probably guess, this new version comes with some nifty additions, which we've outlined below:
- added a cache on the memory stick
- allows offline browsing of maps in the cache
- added a configuration file
- added options to disable disk cache and transition effects
- added an error image when view is not available
- better zoom level (thanks to elefas for the tip)

KEEP IT UP! yo dude keep giving us updates with this, this will be an amazing app if it keeps getting worked on.
i have try the 1st release but i have delete it almost instantly coz the 1st release was almost unuseable and from there i have stop trying PSP-MAPS but today i thought i might give the developer a chance and i install it,to my supprise this version is so much better than the 1st release and everything went so well in my PSP,PSP-MAPS is gong to be a permanent resident in my PSP.
I was hesitant about this app but gave it a chance. Wow was I suprised! Very cool app and a must have for anyone with a PSP. Definitely going to be on my memory card now. Can't wait for the updates.
CXMB has been updated. CXMB will now let you change a theme by using: Settings->Theme settings->Theme Go to the CXMB site: http://www.2alien.info/2008/03/cxmb_for_390_plugin.html Find new themes here: http://forums.maxconsole.net/showthread.php?p=884531 And here: http://www.2alien.net/community/viewforum.php?f=10
hopefully we'll have Google Earth on our PSPs too. ^^ nah
I don't know how this API works exactly but I can't find hybrid view - is it implementet ?
Before I make these suggestions I think this program is great, I signed up just to tell you how good it is :) This is not critism, I think this program is amazing just I have some things that may improve it, If cache becomes over a certain size that is quite large, that it would be able to be compressed? Not sure if thats worth the trouble but just a suggestion. In the program menu, an information menu just telling the user what buttons do what etc. Possibly be able to put "push-pins" on the map? Be able to make "directions" so you could use it to get somewhere, that could be hard but I think that would also be good. Overall I think its great, really useful for when I need to find my way around places. Cheers :) Jed
