PSP MAC Address Changer |
Ó
gracz54 from our forums is back, and this time he's got his PSP Mac Address Changer done and ready for sharing. Now, if you download this, there's only one Eboot around. For the newbies, this means that if you're firmware requires two Eboot folders of the application, then you'll have to use PSP brew.
Another thing to be cautious about is that he's only tested this on 3.03 OE-A. For some run-through on the installation, just paste into psp/game150 (or psp/game). And then, run the app and press X to dump the MAC ID. Once you've grabbed a hex editor, you should be able to see your MAC in hexes at the beginning of the file.
This bit is important! You may actually change the MAC to whatever it is you'd want to be, but DO NOT TYPE IN NEW CHARACTERS or change anything else EXCEPT THE MAC. Why? Because it could brick if you do not heed this warning. So just be a good boy and follow directions to the letter.
That way, we'd all have a nice little MAC Address-changing experience.

Why would this be useful, though?
why would i wanna change the mac add
In the text, it says this has only been tested on 3.02 OE-A, but in the picture the changed MAC address is on 3.03 OE-A.
Someone help me! Does this run on 3.03 OE-A or not?
I thought it was illegal to change the mac address of a device, i was told something like it really goes against the FCC or something. i dunno, could be wrong
Cool app tho, i could see that this could be very useful in the future if/when sony gets a good online server running that checks and blocks psps with custom firmware
Hey "carboycam", why have you stolen my name?
What wold be the point in this ? i think i might do it another day tho so that my psp is more L33T than it is....
AND STUPID!
its tested on 3.03* OE not 3.02 !!! check the damned picture b4 posting this stupid QJ
Yeah, it was a typo. It works on 3.03 OE-A.
So gracz54, can we use ANY hex code we want? So long as it is the same length as the original MAC address.
Yes, you can use any hex code you want, just remember hexes go 0 to 9 and A to F, nothing else. ;)
From gracz54's comment post in this article:
"Yeah, it was a typo. It works on 3.03 OE-A."
The article was of course based on the forum release thread. The post was also updated to avoid any confusion. Thanks gracz54 for clearing things up for everybody here. :)
No problem, sorry for the typo tho ;)
...But so what? It's just another way to customize your PSP, be thankful someone bothered coding something like this (which probably isn't exactly easy); hell, i know it's not something I'd use, but it's still a neat idea, besides it might become useful.
OK, that wasn't very coherent, but you get the idea
Polska krew!!! :)
just tested it, it doesn't actually change your mac address, it just changes the system information mac address display. my router still says that my psp has the original mac address... cool i suppose, but pretty useless...
As i know my computer science if u use other characters than 0-9 and A-F could result in network not working or brick.
I have not testet the app, so there may be only choosable to use those characters, but im writing this in case.
You don't modify the file in the app, just on your computer, using your hex editor. ;)
Also it's not possible to input any other characters than 0-9 and A-F in hexes. ;)
It's just not possible. ;)
Because I forgot to include it in the app - big thanks to harleyg for all his research done on the IDStorage.
Then i understand. Then there are no problem, except the always existing little risk of bricking when writing to the flash.
how could you change a mac adress? mac adresses are hardware defined :S. And its useless to change em if you could.
if you read my previous post you'd realise that the mac address isn't actually changed, just the mac address in system information APPEARS to have changed. it is always the same.
where do you put the new macid.bin file in the root correct? and everytime i hit the circle or left trigger to flash, nothing happens the only two things that work is X to dump it and home to exit WHAT GIVES?
Press O and L simultaneously.
***** 'em
I just made my Mac address 00:00:00:00:00: 00
Thanks for this gracz54
Update released.
as far as i can tell this only changes the MAC that is displayed in the system info menu, i connected my PSP to my router then checked the dhcp clients table and my original MAC is displayed, has anyone else seen this is this suposed to happen?
Yeah, unfortunately it only changes the mac in the system info menu. :(
this is rly cool... i don't think theres any reason to change it other than customizing stuff but its cool in any case.. good work gracz54!
PS. wheres the update?

Nice app
On the forums, in the release thread.
this is gay taking away the ONLY thig that makes ur psp unique
I think this will make it unique..
and not the random, but my way
btw.. your MAC address stays as is.. :)
you just only change the display in sysnfo..
and it rocks. well, for us geeks..
nice work!
Great. So now if my PSP is ever stolen, the thief can just come here and never need to worry about being found out!
Yeah, you can use XVI32, it's free.
This will only change the MAC address in your System Information menu!
Wireless networks will recognize your real, unique MAC address, since it depends on the built-in wifi card of your PSP!
When i dump my MAC, the file has the only: ЗќЏK! What is it? I have 3.03 OE-A!I think it is because of Russian language on my PSP...
what is the use of this other than typing something 1337 in your MAC address
WTF?I changed my language, character set, and have no effect! What to do?I want to change my MAC!But i have only ЗќЏK in this file!
I saw my MAC!It was in the left!I searched it in the right! Thanks!I changed it to 040815162342 do you know what is it? :)
You Cant load game in socom with new mac must have old one
Nice idea. ;)
I know how to change MAC number, but how to change ketters?I want to have 48 15 16 23 42 LT how to do this?Now i can make only 48 15 16 23 42 00!
with this little app you can download stuff on others pc without knowing your mac address cuz if they make a check up of the MAC Address theyll see something like FU:CK:U!:04:20
You can't have L or T, this is HEX,
that means 0-9, A-F.
any one tried on 1.5?
Damn the Fellas at the Freakin' FCC
hey gracz54, where did you get that combine wallpaper? So damn cool
what file is being writen to? is it systemctrl.prx?
this should be removed as:
1. It doesn't actually change the mac address, just tried it, it only changes the system info display.. router still shows old mac.
2. Its a nice way to brick a psp if you screw up, and since it does nothing of use, its not worth the chance.
I dont get it, why in most videos do people block out their macadress?
its true, poland owns u all
hex editor
i never got around to upgrading to 3.03 oe-a so im still using 2.71se-c... but hey this is cool it works on se-c!
great, the one thing that wasnt changeable on the psp is now changeable. so if your psp gets stolen by someone who knows how to fiddle with homebrew, theres NO way to prove its your, without having disfigured your psp ahead of time.
How to make any letters?I can make only numbers, but on the screen, it is a lot of letters! How to make them?
Hey "Not carboycam", why have you stolen my name?
letters from a to f
This dosnt change your actual mac address!! it just changes how it appears on the system information screen!! some people are so thick! I bet you didnt even try loading socom using this!
I'm sure that it is possible to change the mac reported to the router, as people use that at my school to get their xbox/360 online (change to same as comp). That would be a useful app for the psp.
However, if it just changes the mac displayed in the sys info, i don't see much of a point for this, besides of course expanding our knowledge of the psp. Which is end enough in itself.
U STOLE MINE!!! DONT LIE!!!!
