PSP Installer - Image 1

ADePSP has just released his uber-simple homebrew app for the PSP which makes copying files and folders onto a PSP a lot easier. All you'll have to do is place the target files in the MS_ROOT folder and distribute with the Install.exe.

Once connected, this app will automatically detect the PSP so that all you'll have to do is click the Install button. However, ADePSP says that this is just a simple addition and can only copy files and folders. In his next release, he'll update the app to include the ability to edit text files on the PSP, and tons more.

Additional notes from ADePSP:

The background image that appears on the installer is simply a file called pic.jpg which you can customize to whatever you like. If you include a Readme.txt file in the same folder as the Install.exe program it will be displayed when the install is complete.

Again, ADePSP knows that this is a very simple app so don't flame him if you guys think that you can do without his PSP Installer. But still, you gotta give him snaps for being generous enough to share even his simple works with the rest of the homebrew community">homebrew community. So if you have any suggestions on how he can further improve his app, just drop him a line in our forums which you can access by clicking on the release thread below.

# For DevelopersGuest 2007-01-17 09:30
Some developers provide install programs with their apps but i've not seen any that auto detect the PSP when connected and are so simple as this...

If you can happily read a readme and copy files and folders to the right places on your PSP then that's fine but a lot of n00b users get confused...

The purpose of this app is so that if a dev makes a new homebrew he/she can just include my Install.exe with it so all the n00bs have to do is run the installer...

Does that make sense...?

I think it's a great idea, I have been asking for a week

how to install my emulators on 3.03OE-A and all I get is

"Create the GAME150 folder and place them in it" but it

never works.

This will help and the thing is, I'm not a noob to this but

had just updated from fw 1.5 with devhook fw2.71 to

3.03OE-A and had no idea what to do with my homebrew.

Hopefully this app will show me where my files go and I'll

no longer have to ask the unwilling posters that only give

me half of the answers/directions.

In theiory this app should place the files in thier correct

places automatically right, regardless of fw versions

custom or not?

# Losers for a beatin??MickMog 2007-01-17 10:24
Wicked insider, try GAME instead of GAME150, ive never used GAME150 & never had a prob, make sure its set to 1.50 kernel in recovery (switch on & right trigger)

onto the noob beatin now, sure does make sense aDePSP an some ppl cant see outside the box they need to be locked up in

hehe, no offence but ur an ignorant buncha tw@ts. give the lad some feedback an u might get a better app in return, make sense?

a drag n drop window? now how to improve on that??? well maybe a window u can throw any file extension at & itll send it to the right folder ...

i.e.....eboots (in folders) send to PSP/GAME

iso or cso.....send to ISO

.mp4 - correct mp_root folder

.pmp - VIDEO

the benefits being u dont have to check address window to make sure its teh correct drive your copyin to, and that your not taking files from rather than overwriting em......

make sense candly....or cant u see that far from your dummy? dummy!!

hehe, i love seein noobs callin noobs noobier, i cant code but can see whats possible, get a grip & try helping out ,maybe youll get what you want rather than being pissed when u cant find the correct app??? strange f@ckers

anyway, aDePSP, as ive said before, good luck & ignore the losers...but keep posting updates to show em they ARE losers

Nice app man, i don't usually use installers to be on the safe side but this is a great oppurtunity for devs to make an

"Easy Installer" in a snap.

MickMog, thanks for your help, the answer laid in

the recovery menu like you said "1.50 kernal".

I sware I'm no noob at this just not use to a

recovery menu yet. Did fw1.50 have a recovery

menu as well, or is that a custom fw thing like

3.02OE-A/B + 3.03OE-A/B?

I've gotten more progress today within 5min of

your post than the past week and a half.

Thank you very much, because of your reponce

I've got my SNES, SEGA + GBA BaCk!

My Wife loves playing miss pacman, frogger,

marioworld + streetfighter and told me to tell you

thanks as well.

Have a great day!

# recovery menuMickMog 2007-01-17 11:43
aye, recovery menus an awesome newer addition, definately not in fw1.50, shame as itd have saved a few thousand bricks, i use recovery on a regular to check new apps that wont work on latest firmware.

it saved my psp from bein a missile when 3.02 oe-a' auto installer was released too.

this app will make it a load easier on the installation too but some numbnuts are too late in the game to see it ;-)

as aDePSP said, its more for developers to distribute apps without bad feedback cos ppl cant install it....this app will do the job for em. im no devbod but thisd make it easy to send my neice an app that may help (shes psp illiterate) but wont know how to install it, i send her a cd with it on ......get the picture.....?

hey candly, u in bed yet? hehe, only f@ckin wit u, but dont slate ppl for makin it a better world plz

I messed up on the folder it was copying from... I've updated the download so now it will copy to the PSP... It was looking for files in a data folder rather than MS_ROOT... My Bad...
