PNG for PTF PSP Homebrew - Image 1Homebrew developer akadewboy has just released PNG for PTF v1.0. This application allows users to convert 24-bit PNG files into 256 color 8-bit PNGs. This should prove to be useful for those who use Sony's Custom Theme Converter for the PSP since the application has strict rules on what PNG files can be used to create PTF themes.

In future releases, the developer plans on changing the error measure to use CIE u' v' color space to see if the converted images look better. In addition, he also want to increase the image input formats as well as do a detailed comparison with other quantization algorithms to see which one is most effective.

If you plan on using this program, be advised that it has been tested on  Linux (32 and 64 bit), Mac OS X, OpenBSD 32 bit, and Windows. Like all homebrew, be sure to go over the  documentation included before doing anything.

I just want to make it clear, I didn't make pngnq, I only wrote the GUI PNGforPTF and the Gimp Tutorial. Stuart Coyle get's all the credit for PNGNQ.
