Team P86 has released the latest beta version of their "gateway to a faster PSP web browsing experience" homebrew app. Netfront Internet Browser Beta 3 further improves the already speedy app by increasing the Slim's loading capabilities by 200%. Here's the full changelog for this version:
  • The new logo was added(Thanks, Lelouch15)
  • The speed on Slim was increased(%200).
    • There is a bug which the mod didn't use UMD Cache and it used the same memory part with Fat... Fixed...
  • The mouse lag was fixed on Slim(Sometimes it may lag).
  • XMB Plugin was added...
    • If you want to use this mod instead of the default one, you should flash vsh folder...(flash0)..
  • Etc. Etc.
Again, this is still in beta so there may be bugs. If you guys have any to report - or just any general feedback you want to share - head to the forums and contact the team.

I'm gonna give this one a try. I've been tired of the turtle-slow brower that's been in the PSP since FW. 2.0.

Stop including the crap you consider music. It's horrible. I removed it and the PBP is 300 KB smaller, and 300 times less annoying

» ugh

Remove the messagebox that pops up when the program opens, and when we click "Exit web browser"

We don't need to be told which PSP we're using, we know already. And When I click exit I want to exit. I told you for version 2 to remove the prompt and you added another one? Are you a retard or what?

Thank you TeamP86!! Ive been waiting for a release of this to come out with a plugin to replace the browser in flash0. Is there any downside to flashing as opposed to using the eboot, besides the risk of bricking?

so out of curiosity, is this faster than Opera now?

by huggs - 2009-04-13 10:50
» no

not in my opinion anyways. but ive never been able to download stuff with opera so this has an advantage there for me at least.

» downloading with opera

i downloaded something with opera that this browser couldnt. some links wouldnt highlight when i put the mouse over them (youtube messages, myspace blogs, etc.). Opera is a great advantage for me. i just wish it would store cookies. Good work on this browser though, even though my psp is phat n crappy. i will tell my friend about this..

You are VERY unappreciative.

When you put together something(ANYTH ING) for the PSP,

we won't pi$$ and moan that its not the way WE want it.

We will just download it and shut up, much like you should do.

NO ONE else but YOU (on the WHOLE site) cared about the music, what do you think THAT means?

» Fats...

I love this browser. I don't use the PSP for internet very much, but I noticed the increased speed right away!

I didn't see any mention of the phat in this article, but I shall update it anyway. I'm sure they didn't make it slower.

Good work, guys! There is faith in homebrew yet! :)

» @ Techni

You sir are so god damn right!

I mean what the *****? Firefox icon on Netfront? It's the same as using some Xbox360 interface on your psp. Stupid *****s, it's like driving a Mercedes and replace the logo with a Honda one.

BTW PAINT FTW!

» Huggs got a fix for you

Make a "photo" folder in ms0:/PSP and you can save files now :)

HEAR HEAR!

I'm sick of the crappy icons and other crappy, brainless design decisions made by these people. The amount of homebrew I've removed because the software author thought they'd grease up their hand and shove what they consider decent music up your arse is staggering.

Plus it also bumps up the file size needlessly! What IS the point?

by ajnauron - 2009-04-13 14:45
» Seems to work even with custom themes

Now I don't have to disable my theme to use this. Yay.

cool im gonna do that. alot of the time im on the road and dont have access to my comp. to download stuff, and my psp's my only option, so thats a big help to me. thanks!!

Certainly much faster than Opera for me. I had a lot of problems with Opera only loading half a simple website and even turning my PSP off with that annoying click sound.

So you'd stop using a very good piece of homebrew just cos it's got a bit of crap music on the XMB? I'm rarely on the icon long enough to actually listen to it having either selected the program itself or moved onto something else in the memory stick menu.

» Doesn´t work with XMBEL

Hey guys!

I love this homebrew, but this version doesn´t work with XMBEL (XMB Eboot Launcher).

So i will not update. :(

so no go for that one

» » cxmb

include plugin into cxmb theme? dude your sposed to replce the htmlreader.prx plugin in flash0/vsh/module unless im missing something here... but if anybody does replace their plugin to run this from the intnt browser icon in xmb, let me know how it works for ya, im curious

by celebv1 - 2009-04-14 08:54
» i agree

A) the firefox logo is trademarked, you cant use it, and wtf is it doing on netfront?

B) the music should be removed, i removed the music, EBOOT was a great deal smaller. i can see the joy in putting music you care about into something you create, but its just an annoyance

C) bad spelling on a start message? seriously, remove it, its not telling us anything we dont know. also, why do all the work to make it say that? g'd^m, u could have left it alone and saved some time for yourself and users.

D)dont tell me to shut up and stop complaining, its not like it takes a genius to repackage something sony released made with a few hex edits.

im not being picky here, i spent way to much time on making professional looking unreleased half finished, junk, crashing betas.
