iR Shell - Image 1

Even more good news for the PSP homebrew community! Homebrew developer Yoshihiro
has released a patch of Ahman's iR Shell v5.0 for all CFW 5.50GEN-B2 users. If you may recall, the latest version of iR Shell includes the uber cool advance multi-tasking feature.

The download will consist of two files, the first one will include the full version of iR Shell v5.0 with CFW 5.50GEN-B2 patch included, for those who still haven't tried the best shell for PSP while the other one will just include the patch for those who still have the app installed. The patch will not overwrite your data and previous configurations.

Thanks Michael D. for the tip!

» He should work on DSonPSP

instead of working on crappy GEN firmware!

by Spawnx777x - 2009-10-02 18:15
» .

does this mean that i can do that thing where i can play the psp games on my pc?

by TheLastGuitarHero - 2009-10-02 18:31
» ...

Dude, everytime this guy does something, you ***** and complain about working on that emulator, just SHUT UP.

Do you really think if he even reads your comment, he'll say, "You know, that dumbass is absolutely right, instead of working on my other homebrew that I can finish up in a day, I'll work on my complicated emulator which will take much more time. Because no one cares about playing newer games, or using IRShell, people just want the NDS emulator." Just shut, the Hell, up.

This guy has done more in the past few days then you have... Ever?

Anyway, thanks for this release man, and all your other stuff. See, even if he never reads my comment, at least I'm not a spoiled brat about it.

by Vlad-the-wrecker - 2009-10-02 18:41
» Thats what she said :D

Anyway - If he spend all those days then DSonPSP would be fullspeed.

Hes wasting time making a crappy firmware better when he could work on a emu that works perfectly on m33

» But if you need to patch gen so much?

why not just use m33?

by RocSqualie - 2009-10-02 20:05
» ....

Alex doesn't give two **** about you nor does he knows you. Stop slobbing him... errr.... i mean.... praising him like he's king of everything PSP related. If you want to praise someone, praise the ones who first exploited the PSP, which in turn made it possible for custom firmware.

by RocSqualie - 2009-10-02 20:08
» ....

by the way, not everyone wants to stick with M33 because of this thing called "options"

by Yoshio_- - 2009-10-02 20:34
» @Vlad-the-wrecker

you,Vlad-the-wrecker, don´t you have a better thing than flame on gen?

we all know that not all the games patched with yoshihiro´s game decrypter works on m33 due to required prx`s only found on 5.50+

PD: Do something to the humanity an make something useful instead of sitting in front of your pc and put your mental farts in QJ LOL

» If it wasn't for Yoshihiro............

I would not be able to play my GT PSP original UMD, i bought, so thanks Yoshihiro your my Hero. :o)

by suckmyofff - 2009-10-02 20:52
» Damn...

Yoshihiro is on *****ing fire man. Keep it up dude!

by markdonut - 2009-10-02 20:53
» Well,

Some of us buy newer games and want to be able to still use our homebrew (you know, that DSonPSP is) so we require firmware from groups who don't blow off firmwares because of lack of "new features" when it's the sony security circumvention that's important for legit users.

In short - shut the ***** up vlad if m33 is so great why can't i run beaterator or gran turismo on it?

Stop being a *****ing fanboy and just use what's current. I didn't update from m33 for a while out of laziness and reason. Eventually I need higher than 5.00 and usbversionfake.prx wasn't doing ***** anymore.

Just stop *****ing crying and lobbying for m33, to each their own (and 5.50GEN-B2 for anyone who wants to run any current plugins or games)

Untill M33 makes a new firmware they're old news. Just stop. Seriously.

"for those who still haven't tried the best shell for PSP"

Are there any other 'shells' out there?

by Foolmonkey - 2009-10-02 22:37
» Yes.

Plenty.

by batanen - 2009-10-02 23:28
» Thanks again Yoshihiro

I agree with Vlad that it would be great if Yoshihiro has time to continue his great work with DSONPSP. But probably more people need these features and are much faster to accomplish. Someone said that Yoshihiro had said in pspgen boards that he won't be doing DSONPSP anymore. He is going to release the source code of beta 7 (if not done already) and let us (or someone knowing about dynarec) finish it.

But thank you Yoshihiro for all your great recent updates. Japanese surely are great homebrew developers (remember wololo from Wagic). I was really sure that some temporary solution like Dectypter would never come. But I was proved wrong, which is good.

» I would not be able to play my GT PSP original UMD, i bought

yeah right

pull the other one dikhead

you've always been able to play it.

» YAY Yoshihiro :)

I know right, this Yoshihiro has done so much for the community already, i use everthing he has made so far :)

i dont want silly gen haters discouraging him from helping the community

thanks Yoshihiro i really aprecciate your work :)

you could be the next dark alex ;)

by FearEffect - 2009-10-03 03:33
» -

Yoshihiro and wololo are both french, not japanese.

by batanen - 2009-10-03 03:57
» French?

Ok. My misunderstandin g because at least Wololo claims his location to be Japan in his forum.

Qj could do an article about "who is who", though I remember there was something like that made before.

by yoshi314 - 2009-10-03 04:29
» hmm

i don't quite get it. i used gen-a patch, and irshell seems to work perfectly on gen-b for me.

what's so different about this patch?

by PSPfNruelzdude - 2009-10-03 04:41
» WoW...

...This Vlad the Pecker guy really needs some counseling! Anyway, keep up the good work Yoshihiro, the people who DO actually play PSP appreciate all the work.

by Kotonoha - 2009-10-03 05:11
» Fail

There was already a working 5.5 GEN-B2 patch for iR Shell 5.0. Well, working as far as a PSP-1000 is concerned.

by Fyga - 2009-10-03 08:34
» So what the hell was the point in commenting?

If the former only worked as far as 1000 was concerned + this one works for all, then that one was a fail + Yoshihiro's was a win. Freaking fail.

by Yoshio_- - 2009-10-03 09:22
» about that patch...

the patch that kotonoha refeers works also for 2000 =D

this patch doesnt work for me (semibrick) =/ maybe because I installed the other patch, or because the fatmsmod previously installed on 5.50 gen-a

» Have some *****ing respect

To all the people flaming gen. why don't you just sit back and enjoy the ride instead of flaming the work Yoshihiro is doing. m33 is dying a slow death and yet you still rage on about it as if it was up there, well it aint. I've used m33 from the off and still used it up untill today when this patch was relased. Now we can use irshell and run the latest backups and are also having regular updates.

WHERE'S DARK ALEX @ ?

THANKS FOR THE UPDATES AND PATCHES YOSHIHIRO YOU ARE THE MAN NOW.

by chrisruls00 - 2009-10-03 14:52
» Thank You!

I now have the one thing I was missing from GEN back! Thanks a lot for all you have done Yoshihiro!

by Vlad-the-wrecker - 2009-10-03 20:51
» Im baaack!

Gen stinks beacuse you have to patch everything to get it going, period.

by hammered - 2009-10-03 21:00
» Switch 2 GEN and be happy...

Look yoshihiro is making the switch to GEN easier morons, iRShell is like the best, but onli thing missing is 1.5 kernel for GEN since i like using IR remote... but still M33 is dead, DaX isnt updating so quit crying and move on, GEN is good, stop looking for a reason to be obsolete and get with the times :)

THNX YOSHIHIRO FOR UPDATING IRSHELL +D!!

by hammered - 2009-10-03 21:02
» ummm if he had custom firmware..

he wouldnt be able to play it, even if he had the original, because with the UMD in it still does a firmware check -_- so unless he wanted to set up timemachine he couldnt play it

by TheLastGuitarHero - 2009-10-03 21:55
» ...

You should have stayed gone.

by KingPepper - 2009-10-04 05:51
» Why the attitude problem, not every person pirates software you know.

As hammered said, i was on 5.00 M33-6, because i am a tester on the daedalusX64 emulator, go and check if you don't believe, so i had to keep my CFW for that, but no CFW was working with my original GT game, so upgrading to official FW is out of the question. so when Yoshihiro came out with solution, it solves my problem, i upgraded to 5.50 Gen B2, the only way to keep both things going.

So how does that make me a dikhead??? Mmm

by lexbian - 2009-10-04 09:04
» youre retarded vlad

when almost every new operating system/firware comes out that makes a significant upgrade (maybe the windows 98 upgrade to XP is a good comparison...) the old drivers/programs need to be updated or replaced. this is pretty much the same thing. old and otherwise obsolete software is being patched to run on the latest and most useful OS/FW. i mean did you stay on windows 3.1 because all the programs worked on it and not 95? will you refuse to update to windows 7 to keep an old windows 98 program? lets be perfectly logical. a patch is a temporary fix while people start coding new homebrew for GEN, which as its a more compatible firmware, will soon be the industry standard which m33 ONCE WAS.

simple logic. people will code for the FW that is the most useful. that firware USED to be m33, but now .... more games are playable on GEN than m33. so why write code for the obsolete?

by symbyosis - 2009-10-04 11:01
» you eventually have to give it up

I remember when I didn't want to give up my precious 1.50 fw, til lexbian told me to update to a CFW, which I did eventually. Fact is, as the games keep moving forward in FW updates, you should run whatever would run everything at its current state. I mean hey I'd love to still run 5.00 m33-6 but I can't play PSN's official FF7 and I never could figure out the multidisc joiner thing, which people dropped all support for. So now I get my IR-Shell functionability back even if it means my PSP Phat has to have Gen on it now too. Many thanks Yoshihiro hope you continue to put out more of your awesome work, and screw that ds emulator, there's plenty of them for windows and if you absolutely need it on the go, as someone suggested get a DS/DS-Lite/DS-i and get the damn cartridge.
