iR Shell - Image 1With custom firmware 5.02 GEN-A now freely swimming around in the Intertubes, some people may be wondering about how it affects homebrew compatibility, more specifically those who use Ahman's iR Shell a lot.

Well, wonder no more. The guys from PSPGen have released a hex-edited version of iR Shell v4.8 that is reportedly 90% compatible with their new custom firmware.

Nothing was mentioned about what the remaining 10% was, but it's still pretty good news for iR Shell fans who've already switched to the new CFW.

» the remaining 10%

i think it's the functioning of Nethost. it freezes when loading isos and csos. previous irshell didn't do that.

It has come to my attention that there has been an unofficial release of iR Shell v4.8 that has been edited to work with 5.02GEN-A custom firmware.

At this time, irshell.org will not be supporting this release of iR Shell v4.8 until further notice. Once a final determination has been reached by myself and the rest of the staff, we will update our members.

Please be patient with our decisions. There are considerations being discussed while making this decision.

Thank you for visiting irshell.org and enjoy the forums.

due to the timing, and total disregard to the many wonderful people who work hard on this project, this is where we stand at this moment

once we have the time to discuss this with our staff, and get ahman's opinion we might review the situation

» Please Update to Official

I hope you do, those added features to the GEN-A are sweet. would love to enjoy IRSHELL on this.

Loving the GEN-A Upgrade! No problems yet here. 2 days of testing. Seems pretty solid.

IRSHELL is the Best thing ever.

Hope I don't have to down grade to continue to use the IRSHELL, but will if IRSHELL not updated to Official vers to support this firmware.

» same here

I'll downgrade if iR Shell does get an update. it's useless without the official ver.
